The DM being insensitive arseholes is nothing new, but they've written a whole article about how Amy is in the new Strictly trailer when it's actually Jowita ffs (I'm guessing it will be edited or deleted pretty soon)

I saw that article and wondered about that. I actually went back and watched the clip over and over and thought ‘Surely that’s Jowita?’

I was just reading this and facepalming 🤦‍♀️ maybe they'll edit it when they catch up on this thread 🥴

How insensitive to Amy if she sees that undergoing her latest round of chemo and to Jowita who was last year's winner. Seriously do they do no fact checking whatsoever?

I wonder if we'll see Hamza back on the launch show. I hope so.

Layton, I hope, will be more likeable than his promos, yet I’ve seen him on other things and he’s hugely confident and a little arrogant, which doesn’t usually go down well with Strictly viewers. He’ll go very far no matter what because even if he’s in the bottom 2 he’ll never be voted off by the judges as he’s already an excellent dancer.

Well we all saw this coming with his baby due soon.
But missing out for the sixth time isn't nice why does he stick around just to get the same disappointment every year.
The one partner he had didn't do to badly compared to other pros first ones.

I realise Neil isn't popular over here but he doesn't deserve to be treated like this every year.

What’s the point of employing him if they never want to give him a partner?

I understand that it gives him a regular income each year and he doesn’t have to work so hard for it as if he gets a partner (is he paid less than the other pros?) but you’d think it would hurt his ego as well to just be dismissed every year

Personally I don’t think they need all the pros they have. The dance floor is too crowded when they are there doing a group number and they just hang around not doing a lot

He’s probably fine with it. I think he works with the couples for training and choreography as well as being in the dance routines. Strictly has always had back room staff and he seems to have eased more into that role … which is probably actually more secure than being a pro with a partner.

I agree. This was the role he had prior to having a partner, perhaps he actually prefers it to competing. I'm personally indifferent to him, but he's clearly well liked by the others and they employ him for a reason.

For all you long-timers 😁 just wondering what was Neil like, as a partner, when he did get to compete?
I'm a relatively new Strictly viewer, I know I can look up who he danced with or how far they got but just curious about how he came across?

He seems quite happy in a mostly cheerleading role now. That's all I have seen him in, since I started watching.
Presume he does background work as they are keeping him on.

I actually thought he was great with Alex, plus they obviously genuinely got on as they are still friends now. They also got quite far in the competition. I really don’t understand why he was left out the next years until he got Nina. Considering they have so few British pros compared to the early years, and he gets a leading role on pro tour it’s surprising he isn’t used more. I presume Lauren has a partner this year so Kai isn’t the only British pro in there.

He seemed to get on well with Alex Scott but it was a slightly odd run they had - when Neil was injured, Kevin partnered her for a couple of weeks and the AS they did really showed up how lacklustre Neil's choreography was. It wasn't bad, but just a bit flat and didn't really seem like he was pushing her? Whereas she did a great AS with Kevin that she really shone in (and I'm saying this as someone who has a Kevin Clifton allergy 99% of the time). And then when she was back with Neil, it felt quite flat again, and then their vote eventually dropped

With Nina, I thought they were a bit unlucky with their dance order for week 2, but it looked like he'd tried to put too much in the tango and it backfired. I don't think he was a bad partner, but just didn't have that knack of making the dances look great on screen and getting the best out of his celeb

I do agree that he's probably ok with being benched this year and with his role as a 'Neil' (not quite full pro, but not anonymous bts person either). But saying that, I'm sure he would be over the moon to get a partner again in a normal (not expecting any babies) year. Because that's what being a pro is all about at the end of the day

He is 41 though … which is getting towards the top end of the age range for a pro dancer. Getting a secure role as a Gilkeson Back room Aide-de-Camp probably beats being The New Anton.

He's only had two partners. Alex just narrowly missed out on a semi-final place. I was never massively fussed on Alex, but voters got her far. There were two or three times that she should have probably been in the DO, but then I did enjoy a couple of her routines. Thought the Ghostbusters one with Kevin was ridiculously overpraised, though.

Nina went over really well on her first week with the samba, but I thought she looked like a drunk aunty at a wedding 😂 Then, as already mentioned it went pear-shaped in week two and she was the first boot.

I think Neil is better in his current non-celeb role, really. I also think he gets excess flak because he's the unfanciable one as opposed to much else.

Until Neil got Alex, there was a (probably just DS-based) theory that he helped Katya with her choreography.

I do wish Strictly would ditch the dance troupe, I agree that the dance floor is just too full with all of them on.

Plus they throw in extras every year - 2022 had Giada, Jake, Arduino, Ashleigh and Pasquale.
I’m still shocked that Strictly haven’t cast Pasquale yet. He’s literally won 4 DWTS in a row and is extremely hot. He did actually audition last year as well, then went on to Italy and won that, despite his partner recovering from an injury.

I think they deem Pasquale as too old at 34 to be a new pro. When they hired Vito (same type) over him, it was game over for his chances of joining.
