that’s interesting to me given the look of complete horror on vito’s face 🤣 it was definitely the expression of a man who knew it was going (potentially) dangerously wrong.

like you say though, maybe it was just so extremely messy that it looked way worse than it actually was. i thought both of their reactions implied it was bad though!

I think it was the speed she came down at that made him 😬
Watching it back Vito's reaction, smothering her with kisses and holding her head in a tight grip refusing to let her go near the judges until he calmed her down probably saved Ellies night a bit, she was on the verge of breaking down and he refused to allow it but it also gave the judges time to realise how upset she was and to be gentle with her.

Watching on 0.5 speed it's not that she doesn't stand thats the problem its the part where she fails to catch his hand on the way down that Vito :poop: himself.

Another lurker / first time poster.

I think a lot of the “confidence” talk is more about the year Ellie has had - facing 2 major life events almost simultaneously, even the strongest of us would struggle when faced with losing our jobs / relationships but to lose both together must’ve been horrendous.

Apparently her ex was a dancer and he cheated on her, I cannot help thinking TPTB knew this and put her with the hot Italian singleton as a way for her to stick two fingers up to him!

I am not giving up hope that there isn’t more to their relationship than they are letting on, but given Vito’s history and the gutter press they are keeping it quiet for now.
If they were just friends, they could have gone down the route of “big brother / little sister” (especially as he is part of the family). There have been too many little clues, especially on Saturday night after the showdance when Vito cheekily said maybe he should have given her more Parmigano (Gorka’s eyes said it all)!!!

Interesting that Ellie said that is how the lift was meant to go - eg that’s how she was meant to come down, it was just very messy and wobbly as she didn’t get her balance at the top. I don’t think it was the huge disaster it was made out to be at the time
She definitely fell down pretty much, but I guess she was supposed to come down that way, but more gracefully. It's the fact that if Vito hadn't caught her she'd have had a nasty fall. His face when he realises it's going wrong tells you that. She misses his hand and he has to grab her by the waist. I think for a relative non-dancer it was too difficult - Layton might have managed it, with his years of experience.

Graz was on BBC this am and he was raving about Ellie's 'journey' in the sense that she made huge progress to having to do really difficult choreography and the trust that takes. So I'll give Vito the benefit of the doubt and say it was because of his faith in her and wanting to show off her abilities he put the lift in, but it wasn't needed. (Anyway, it was nice to see one Italian is delighted for Vito..)

They said on Claudia's radio show on the day of the Final when she mentions the lifts they said so far they had never gone wrong. I imagine if it had been going wrong in rehearsal it would have been taken out. Hopefully it's given Gilkison, Flint and TPTB something to think about but I doubt it!

Yeah I don’t doubt she was meant to come out of the lift like that, upside down, but much more gently and controlled and in time for when the song ended. As it was she kind of fell down instead and her head was stuck in his crotch whilst upside down as Vito tried to untangle her (I suppose there are worse positions to be in 😛)

With the best will in the world, those kind of moves are specialist showdance/cheerleading moves and they are mainly gymnasts first and foremost … even after 3 months’ the celeb ladies are barely dancers (whatever the judges say) let alone gymnasts. I think they need to realise that just because someone says they will give it a go so not to disappoint the team/their pro dosent mean they should.

This is the thing, it’s all very well for them to be all “oh she was happy to do it she’s so brave etc” but imagine her saying oh actually no I don’t want to. I’m sure Vito is lovely and wouldn’t have meant to pressure her, but I’ve also no doubt that she felt the pressure to perform and take the risks for him as much as herself

Which is when of the Gilkeson Team should step in and say … nah. It’s going to take longer than 4 days to get you up to that level. Here’s something that looks just as flashy but with less risk of facial injury.

After just one dance and a couple of weeks training, Sally apparently still can’t laugh without pain, which is bonkers really. There’s no wonder Nigel still doesn’t know what day it is.

Karen posted a nice group shot (and it looks like Motsi talking to Nikita and Layton in the background)
