Another DM article about Layton this morning with James Jordan wading in. i know this is rinse and repeat but the naivety that the majority of these actors that appear have not had dance training at drama school and that the variations of this show around the world also have contestants with extensive dance experience is mind boggling. someone said this morning “I don’t know how Layton lives with himself” tad dramatic for Saturday night light entertainment. Just bugged me this morning!

Arlene’s not a bad one to have coming out to bat for you though, and she sounds like she really likes Layton.

Amazes me really. Debbie McGee was on TV at the weekend talking about her extensive ballet experience and how she was in a ballet company when she met Paul Daniels. I do remember it being discussed a bit when she was on the show but I do not recall the same level of vitriol. Likewise Caroline Flack, etc. I wonder what the difference could be? 🙄🙄😡

Exactly! Every year we google the contestants to see if they’ve trained and usually the actors all have. For example Nigel who went to the very prestigious ArtsEd but it literally wasn’t mentioned. Also been in musical theatre as have so many others. Layton hasn’t tried to hide it at all. BBC won’t let him win though, it’ll be Ellie

His behaviour initially put me off him, (having liked him before he started) I like him now, again.

He seems to have become much calmer, as she becomes more frantic. I think he said something along the lines of it not mattering about the glitter ball. That it was about so much more than that. And he meant it. I don't think he could say something fake tbh.

I know they all have to trot out certain lines...friends for life and so on. At this rate, it will be Bobby running screaming for Erin Island. Or swimming there through Dianne's tears. 🤣

Well Shimmy Jimmy (as I’ve seen him referred to on DS) needs to wind his neck in. I go on YouTube and the only things that pop up for him are his critiques of a job he left 10 years ago and videos of him and his wife jiving in shopping centres.
The closest he came to the glitter ball was with massive ringer DVO so he can STFU the massive has been hypocrite.

What a turnaround over the last few weeks (since Blackpool I think) where Dianne is now the one in for criticism and Bobby has ended up looking the more mature one out of the two

I agree, and its actually unbelievable how quickly people forget what a pair of twats they've both been OFF the dance floor.

Yes on the show they are sweetness and light but off it between the pair of them their behavior just reeks, his sudden quiteness while she takes the reigns because she needs him to concentrate now and focus on the last big push as though his stupidity needs sweeping under the rug - new narrative he's a quiet good boy way more deseving than any of the others, isn't that right Di .
 
The bleeping mail always make sure they use pictures of Layton looking effeminate from his AS week and leave the comments open so they know they will get extra clicks. They just keep feeding the hate.
All the people who have decided they know his vile personality from watching him on the TV each week would do well to pay attention to what a well respected professional like Arlene says about him having worked with him.

I always think too about @Willow9999 saying that they barely interacted with each other at Blackpool. The partnership is what makes a lot of people connect with a celebrity. The other 2 pros in the final have excelled at this as they have put their focus into showcasing and developing the celebrity and have developed true connections with them.

This is the most beautiful comment from Arlene. I'm sure he will glow reading such nice things. I just wish there were more lovely comments for him out there that didn't get a load of laugh reacts from sad fuckers.

I just don't understand people getting a negative opinion of Layton's personality from his time on the show. He's always been warm, funny, open to criticism and greatly respects his partner. Not once has he done anything to suggest he's a diva or thinks he's better than anyone else - watch him in the Clauditorium and he is the celeb bigging up the others, giving them hugs and cheering the loudest for everyone else. Any "ooh he's a diva and he'll throw a hissy fit" remarks are just cloaked homophobia.
