I think for the pro’s with the less able celebs it’s a balancing act. They want a routine that shows what the celeb can do, but not one that is so complex they forget what they are doing half way through. Alesha was good enough to wing it and follow Matt when they both blanked, Matt Di Angelo got away with going off for a nice sit down but someone like Matt Goss isn’t going to get away with standing looking thunderstruck for half a dance while Nadiya tries to steer him back into the routine. I think sometimes the simple routines are all they think the celeb can comfortably manage.
Yeah, I would much rather watch someone like Matt do a basic routine with not great technique than watch him be given a routine that is far too difficult. There’s really only so much her and Kai could do last year with their partners 🤣

If there's any female pro who should get an elderly politician, it's Nancy, I don't think she's that good (better than a few others but still meh) yet lucked out with two really good male celebs in a row, in years where there weren't very many male contenders. I did feel a bit sorry for her losing out last year on the final, but it took Janette 8 series and Nadiya hasn't even had one yet.

I doubt we'll see Jowita with a contender this year which is fair but I'm hoping her non contender celeb is more a Chris Ramsey/Dan Walker type who can stay in for a bit and isn't outright hopeless. It would be a bit unfair if she got a no-hoper after winning her first when Gio got pushed for years to win and still didn't get a dud after his win. And totally agree re Gio - too many newer guys deserving of their chances for him to get a look in if there's any justice.

The last two weeks with Tony, Katya seemed noticeably frazzled. I think she's given everything she can with the dud celebs but we've seen those partnerships enough now and I think she'd be grateful for better celebs going forward.
I’ve really warmed to Nancy the last 2 years, particularly when she was partnered with Rhys. I am interested though to see how she does with someone who’s not as good as him or Will.

Both her and Tony were *fried* by the time he went out: Katya worked so hard to drill the routine into his head, and suffered many bruises , and he tried so hard in rehearsals, and then he got onto the dancefloor and you could see 40 hours of patient training just go "bye bye! 😇". The fact his knees exploded was a mercy, neither of them could have gone another week without cracking.

Give Katya someone like Max Whitlock, a UK gymnast in excellent shape. Someone who might not win, but can pretzel her into ten thousand different bendy shapes on the dancefloor and carry his own and her bodyweight on his own pinkie finger, let her have some really creatively bonkers fun.

I had really high hopes for Katya when she was paired with Adam Peaty, for the same reasons - his fitness and Olympic experience - I was hoping they'd be the perfect pairing for her to showcase her ability because she really is exquisite. Unfortunate that he was so wooden and the partnership fell flat 😔

Maybe not, but I still think she deserves it based on the run she’s been on since 2018 lol. She won 6 years ago and since then she’s drawn the short end of the stick almost every time, I actually feel sorry for her. I think she’s always given the tit dancers because they know she’s the best pro at getting the most out of them, but that doesn’t mean she should get them every year the poor girl 🤣 It’s impossible to predict tbh, on paper there are pros that should really be getting contenders this year, and there’s also the obvious ones who should be getting duffers (gio, nancy, maybe dianne & graziano too).
‘On paper’ Matt had huge potential and I think it was thought he was a ringer, with his pop background ….but no, bless him.

It's funny how in the past year or so some people are saying she should have a young sporty chap who could keep with her but hello she had that already with Adam. You could tell she was overworking him and doing too much thats why I would worry for an actual ringer being partnered with her the poor fella would have a heart attack after week 2!

I think Adam's problem was that he was a tall athlete and not a performer or someone with dance background. We're not in 2006 any more, the days of the sportsmen ruling the competition are long gone - most of the recent ones have been quite poor. Still a better bet than someone like Mike Bushell and maybe she miscalculated it a bit but I don't think he was a contender beyond being young and fit. More in the level of Jonnie Peacock, Greg Rutherford and Ben Cohen.

Oh did Adam break up with the mum of his child? That’s not a huge surprise but also kinda sad. Least they gave it a go!

Yes last September I think. They seem to still be friendly . I noticed he started liking Holly’s posts a few weeks later, but he had already met her via Tilly when in Strictly so not reading too much into it. Apparently he started chatting to her more a few months ago.

The sportspeople that have done well have all had a sense of special awareness and balance. It’s like when Len was honking over Darren Gough being a big blokey bloke, it’s like - hello, you do know what his day job entails, don’t you? Colin Jackson personified fluidly and balance as did Ramps. Really, the writing was on the wall from Mark Foster that swimmers … not so much.

It’s a pity Nicola Adams/Katya got covid as I think she had a lot of potential

I would like Katya partnered with a creative actor who has a bit of dance experience and is up for crazy characterisation with whatever choreography she throws at them. Joe wasn't the best dancer but he was good at getting the characters and embodying the vibe of the dances - performance is worth so much more than we think.

Athletes, even gymnasts tend to be quite wooden. I actually thought Louis Smith fell into this category as well a little bit. So yeah I hope Katya doesn't get another one of those this year and gets a Danny Mac type instead!

And I think Katya got a bit deflated after all the home wrecker rumours started again. It must be so rubbish to finally get a "performance" out of a non-performer and then instantly get called out on it.

I think just give Katya Aimee Fuller, only person which can keep up with her 😅.

Zara McDermott? Really??? Love Island is just blatantly scraping the barrel. They need to fire the casting director.

Tbf she's become a celebrity in her own right and I will say that her documentaries are actually pretty good.

She's annoying AF though, her and her doofy boyfriend.
