He has a dance absolutely in his wheelhouse … character driven, side by side and familiar but not too familiar. Yes, I think he was almost certainly going to be either joint top or second with 39, and either Bobby or Annabel were definitely going.
 
For me the heart went out of Strictly when Krishnan was eliminated. He was never going to win but he was such a delight to watch and his smile was infectious. To kick him out over Angela R was a travesty. Now Nigel has gone, what started as such a promising, seems to be limping to an end. Layton and Nikita were fabulous last night and without them the episode would have been totally dire.

I love the below comment I just read on Digital Spy.
I thought I might put down here my reasons for not voting for a pair who plainly were playing on a pitch severely slanted towards their own goal. So as I did the morning chores I began to think about what I was going to say. So i I asked myself some questions then. First:: Is Layton the best dancer? Yes, but…. Are his and Nikita’s performances more imaginative and better performed than anyone else’s? Well, Yes. Has the partnership of Layton and Nikita been the most interesting this year? Yes. Is Layton’s Argentine Tango the only routine you (I) have watched twice this year? Er..Yes. Has Layton always showed impeccable manners and good behaviour? Yes. Is he as emotionally invested in Strictly as the others? Yes. Will he be as devastated as the others would be if he didn’t win? Yes. Does he deserve to win? Yes, absolutely.

So, I am seriously unappreciating how quickly I can change my mind. This year my votes go to………Layton and Nikita.

Same here I couldn't believe how gutted I felt when I saw that they had withdrawn. Took a lot of the sparkle out of the show for me. I just love him, and Katya is my favourite female pro. It was lovely to see her joy at having a non-duffer this year.

Is there any contingency Strictly could build in for people withdrawing for health related reasons or whatever? A lot of you here are familiar with the permutations and combinations, which I am not. 😁
