Layton won’t win. Firstly because he’s obviously a ringer and secondly because of the blatant homophobia I’ve seen across social media by people, mostly of the boomer generation it has to be said, who clearly aren’t comfortable with two men dancing together. A lot of these people are usually supportive of the ringer contestants so it’s not hard to work out why they have such a problem with them.

It’s funny, isn’t it because most of the elderly people i know (and there’s a few due to the Aged Relatives) love Layton and cheer when he appears in a dress … but most of them knew someone who was gay when they were young pre-1967. The most vocal I know are the middley Ones, which surprised me.

After seeing the show yesterday I know Nigel would have 2nd or 3rd on the leaderboard and would have got through to the semi final.

Based on the dances last night Layton and Nikita were the standout for me and totally deserved the first 40. Now Nigel has gone I will be supporting them two now.

I feel the exact same 🙁

I know it sounds daft but i was so excited for his Arginine Tango, that combo of him and Katya and what they would of produced
then the excitement of who would dance off in the quarters and semi - if we had of had a Layton Ellie and Nigel final just knowing their show dance with Kat being able to do whatever she wanted with lifts and tricks and the jeopardy of the three of them all capable of giving each other a run for their money as to who wins ....... now it just all feels a bit flat, Ellie will be nice, Annabel will be polite and Bobby same old and all the judges favourites from the start .

She looked like the celeb in that dance, it was bizarre, pretty sloppy, even her shimmy at the start looked hammed up. Not holding herself stiff in the lift, remember Katyas stiff as a board drop, was stunning.
Literally no idea how D got a partner and Nat didn't.
As for Layton and Nicky's dance it was fabulous, but for me just shows how much of a dancer Layton actually is and it takes the shine off it for me, seeing someone like Angela doing the At Tango took my breath away that week, seeing her going from no real dance training to that was unreal.

a strong charleston followed by a strong AT (which i think they had next) could have done it for him. along with redoing his paso (probably) in the final and a katya showdance.

It would have been such an entertaining final with Nigel there 😢. And now we have to sit through the judges fawning over either Annabel or Bobby as well as sitting through their bland dancing 😑

All my votes are now going to Layton but I won't be mad at an Ellie win. She's obviously a great dancer, just lacking that spark that makes her memorable. Would much rather she wins over Annabel though. Actually, I might throw some votes Ellie's way on the evening if it looks like Annabel is in with a chance

Dianne's always been one of the weaker dancers and pros but she's really dropped the ball lately. Not getting a single step right in the pro challenge, dancing in a sloppy manner (felt the same for her contemporary and jive), odd comments and desperate behaviour... It's all getting a bit uncomfortable to watch.

FYI Angela S has a LOT of dance training and performed in a professional Irish dance troupe. Does knowing that now take the shine off her AT? It's still brilliant to me just as Layton's dances are no worse to me for knowing he's trained in other dance disciplines.

As much as I loved Nigel I really don't think he could, especially with the sudden baffling rise in Annabel's popularity.
Based on bets alone it's like the narrative AJ might have just taken it from Rose on the night if she smashed her 3 dances, that was never going to happen no matter how well she danced.
Like Rose, Ellie appears to have wide ranging support from all types of viewers which I have always found a more reliable way of predicting the winner.
The person that's appeals just to one type of voter like the nans or the social media vote will usually struggle at this point because it's just not enough.
Often the dances almost don't matter on final night, Hamza didn't have a particularly spectacular final night, by that point most people have made up their mind.

Now I think there might be a possibility Annabel could take the win, she's polar opposite of Ellie too that means there will be no split vote between them and she has a compelling story and seems to be this years journey contestant.

Same here. I thought I would like him (I'm a sporadic watcher of Eastenders). Then his initial behaviour really put me off.

Now I think comes he across a lot better than Dianne and is trying his best. I agree re the couples choice. I absolutely didn't get it and the bit with Dianne up on his shoulder made me want to scream at the telly.

I have said previously that I hope he was okay with the theme and didn't feel pressurised by anyone into doing it. There's an innocence and naivety there that would be far too easy to exploit.😕

to be fair to her, i don’t think it was physically possible for her to hold herself stiff as she didn’t have the support to do so - bobby was holding her too weakly.

her little kick as she attempted to do it is still killing me though 🤣
 
Annabel’s popularity is the most baffling of all. The Facebook Karen’s were all apparently ‘in tears’ watching her dance last night but I just found it meh, like her really, She seems nice enough but I find her dull, I’m sorry she’s lost her husband but this isn’t the X Factor. It shouldn’t be about sympathy

Angela toured with a professional Irish Dance troupe.

So, not really a surprise that her Jive, Argentine Tango and Charleston were her best dances. She already had the training for fast kicky legs and side by side synchronicity.

From the way the comments and scores went last night, I get the feeling that it was going to be the Designated Nigel Comeback Week (shared with Layton). He has a dance absolutely in his wheelhouse … character driven, side by side and familiar but not too familiar. I think the bus was being revved up for either Bobby or Annabel and they weren’t fussed which.

Nah cause most of us over here did Irish dancing like Angela did, did a number of years myself and there's not a hope it translates as much as starring in the west end does. Layton is utterly brilliant, amazing to watch but if he wins he's never going to get away from the ringer label.
I think Nigel only got away with it cause he was so well known on the soaps too, whereas not many knew Layton from Bad Education etc, so his whole profile is "west end, billy Elliott"
We still have a "results" show tonight, they could have kept Nigel and Katyas interview for them and fill out more time 😂

Format wise I'm still missing seeing the pairs doing the same dances, I'm not a fan of the randomness with everyone's dances (although we know they set ones to favour some pairings) still hate the couples choice and the barefoot dances 😂

I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt that she does know how to do the step correctly normally and she just got confused because of something to do with where the sequence was considered to begin and end between each step... but then she said that other pros immediately told her it was wrong after watching her recording. And she said she still wasn't sure what she'd done wrong... um...

i imagine he’s woken up this morning and seen all the clips of him being interviewed with absolutely no memory of it happening.

like back in the day when i’d awaken at 2pm on a sunday to find myself tagged in about a hundred of my friends’ facebook photo albums 🤣
