Aside from the Botched Lift (tm) can we raise a glass to one of the other moments of last night- Gorka's face when Dianne slagged off her fellow pros in favour of Noodly Arms. First shock, then eyeroll, then ironic clapping while saying 'thank you' with pursed lips. Icon.

Yes, I have seen a fair bit of 'she's too perfect, she's like a robot' complaints about Ellie over there. And of course, the 'evil Machiavellian schemers using underhanded showmance tactics to get the glitterball' accusations are rife. It is interesting that their Appreciation Thread is so much smaller than you'd expect for the favourite to win.

The Layton haters' never-ending stream of 'he's too good to be there, it's not fair! But also he does everything so wrong you can't even tell what dance it's supposed to be!' is something else though lol. You'd think they'd get tired of saying the same (contradictory) thing every week, but nope, broken record every time.

Love me a Pissy Gorka 😂

I don't really have any instinct one way or another about Ellie and Vito, I'm bad at picking up such things. Sometimes I think maybe and sometimes I think nah.

their show dance was 🔥🔥 i remember loving their charleston too - at least i think it was their charleston, the one where she lies down and he does a back flip over her 🤣

gymnasts are always such good contestants: i hold out hope that they’ll get max whitlock one day 🥲 i’m sure i remember flavia saying that really a gymnast is the perfect partner because they have the stamina etc, but have also been taught very high level poise and artistry presentation skills.

Oh yes, Olympic medal winner gymnast and 5ft bendy and graceful professional dancer will always invoke a wonderful memory .. on the other hand .. 5ft professional dancer who couldn’t lick Flávia’s boots and 6ft something worst actor on telly who didn’t know where to put his hands (in the figurative terms of the lift) just …. [fill in the blank] 😳

BTW I don't blame Vito for that (in my opinion) terrible quickstep - the music would never have worked.

exactly! there was barely any quickstep (because, in fairness, it is a literal polka beat) - and they essentially just acted out the scene from the film. impossible music to dance to, but you can’t criticise one and not the other.

I find that their routines are so packed full of little details that they just get better with each viewing when you notice something different ♥️

Yes Ellie’s routine was the one that was least true to the style yet the haters are ranting she was under marked and calling Laytons dance, that quite clearly was a Paso, another show dance that was nothing like a Paso 🤨
 
Strictly isnt Strictly now Nigel had to withdraw he and Katya were the show for me. Going to miss them and gutted for them they haven't had closure like the normal eliminated couple do. No more training together I do hope we get one more ITT interview from them. Not only was he a great dancer he is a lovely man inside and out.

After seeing the show yesterday I know Nigel would have 2nd or 3rd on the leaderboard and would have got through to the semi final.

Based on the dances last night Layton and Nikita were the standout for me and totally deserved the first 40. Now Nigel has gone I will be supporting them two now.

From comments I've seen a lot of Nigel voters are transferring their votes to Layton - I guess it makes sense as both are showmen who know how to sell a dance and make it entertaining.

i think so too. i was always a two votes to nigel one to layton girl - layton will be getting all of mine from now on.

also intend to force all the ladies at my mum’s annual strictly final party to do the same. they’ll be several proseccos in at that point, it’ll be easy!
