Ellie - Slightly weird song, slightly weird routine, horrible singing, but I thought she did pretty well given what they had to work with. Really wish we could've seen what she could do with a proper song and styling. She acted it well though.

Annabel - Irked me that no one mentioned her clawlike grip on Johannes' shoulder. Other than that it was fine, but I would say it was the same, if not slightly worse than her American Smooth. No improvement. But her scores were fair so can't complain too much. Whatever they did to that poor song has to be one of the worst crimes the show has ever committed. Up until it was usurped by the sea shanty fever dream anyway.

Layton - It wasn't quite what I was envisioning, I think they could've used better parts of the song and I still think a little bit of capework wouldn't have gone amiss, but thankfully all my worries about it not looking great in the camera blocking footage were unfounded. It was absolutely amazing and well and truly deserved the 40. I loved it, it's probably tied with the Cha Cha for my favourite of their dances. Thank god their costumes were great after last week's debacle. The singing was as horrendous as expected, but after a few rewatches I'm desensitised to it. Aww, Nikita crying! 🥺 And all the other pros so happy for them! 🥰

Motsi and Nikita both mentioning the trolling, presumably given the green light from high up? Curious why they've suddenly decided to gently address it now. I think having some intern delete the worst of it from the official insta/twitter/facebook pages from the start would've perhaps been a better move (though of course the bigots would've screamed about their right to free speech being censored.)

Booby - I didn't actually think it was that bad? Apart from nearly dropping Dianne, of course. The 9s were too high, but I thought he did alright and it was one of his least bad dances. Wouldn't rush to rewatch it or anything, but it was OK. I honestly started to find Bobby a bit less annoying this week. He seemed to be taking it more seriously and working harder and I was about to be happy for him to get reasonably good scores, up until Dianne had to open her big trap and blather that bleeping nonsense about trusting Beanstalk McNoodle Arms (who just nearly dropped her!) more than the other pros. :rolleyes:




Can't believe we have to put up with either them or Annabel in the final. I really wish Angela was still in. And Nigel of course. :cry:

Also, will never understand the nutters who whine about ringers. What a snoozefest the night would've been without Layton. It was bad enough without Nigel. I really hope Katya is allowed to post some rehearsal footage on instagram. You could tell it was going to be a great one, possibly go last and get the second 40. It'd be a real shame to not be able to see any of it.
 
I really can’t believe that Ellie and Vito are shagging - they have the chemistry of a bag of King Edwards.
But… it doesn’t really matter if it’s a romance or a showmance. She can dance well (if unemotionally) and is far more wholesome and appealing to middle England than Layton. That’s what’s getting her the votes.
Normally I don’t vote for ‘ringers’, but there’s something about Layton and Nikita dancing together that’s just mesmerising.
I don’t mind Ellie getting to the final, and fully expect her to win. But I see no passion, no soul, in her dances. Vito has ALL the personality in that partnership.

Had a glance at DS, I don't know why I'm surprised because it's the same every week, but more of the usual deranged, deluded cries of 'it wasn't a Paso, it was a showdance/exactly the same as all his other dances!' :rolleyes:

Funny how I haven't seen anywhere near as many complaints about Ellie's Quickstep almost looking more like an American Smooth and being full of 'illegal' lifts.

Gutted JoJo wasn't in a proper Glinda gown, would've been fascinating to see if it would have magically transformed Annabel's Foxtrot into 90 continuous seconds of this

It’s usually the case that less chemistry on the floor, more off it. I have noticed a slight change in E&V the last couple of weeks , not so all over each other on ITT especially.
I agree with you about L&K, their dance chemistry is incredible, no barriers up, pure 🔥.
 
I've been back on my leaderboard calculation bullshit, and it's a long shot, but I think this week's scores carrying over to next week could possibly give Layton a small chance of avoiding the dance-off. He can avoid it if four things happen - 1) There are no ties, 2) he's at the top of the leaderboard, 3) Annabel is at the bottom, 4) Annabel doesn't get above Ellie in the vote (or Bobby above Annabel.)

Realistically I don't think it is very likely. Ellie has more dances left that should suit her, while 3 out of the 4 Layton has left would be difficult if not impossible for him to score highly with. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Annabel currently being at the bottom (even if it is only by one point) and Layton having a 4 point lead on Ellie could result in him just managing to scrape 1 point higher than her next week, and then if Bobby can manage to stay at least one point ahead of Annabel, no one's tied, and the order of the public vote goes as expected with Ellie at the top, we could still get our longed-for Bobby vs Annabel dance-off.

layton - 4 + 1 = 5
ellie - 3 + 4 = 7
booby - 2 + 2 = 4
annabel - 1 + 3 = 4

I just wanna see their happy lil faces called safe one more time! 🥺 🙏 Please, it's the least we deserve after having to have one of Booby or Annabore in the final instead of Nigel. Or Angela. 😭

How does Bobby have the most views? I’m hoping it’s people rewatching because it was such a car crash.

I don’t see the chemistry off the floor either. There are always ‘tells’ even if (or maybe especially if) a couple are trying to hide it. Mirroring, involuntary touching then reaching back. They give me sibling vibes.

I said something similar about Bobby, upthread. He seems to be working hard and honestly is easier to take than Dianne now. I don't dislike her or anything but she was never my favourite pro anyway. I skimmed over some of their feedback but I'm sure Shirley called him 'young man' and gushed about how wonderful he is. 😁

I'm going to rewatch Layton and Nikita today. For me, the series would have been nowhere near as good without them. It's not just the dancing, it's the partnership. Layton has shown such vulnerability and Nikita is just amazing, in every way.
I would love if they won.

Still heartbroken about and for Nigel and Katya. I hadn't the heart to watch until late last night. I love them more than ever after their interview with Claudia.

And speaking of the Clauditorium, Graz is always such a cheerleader for everyone, I love that about him. He is beaming from ear to ear for others getting praised.

And I loved the general reaction to the 40. From everyone. Fab-u-lous 🎉
 
Think the glitter ball is definitely Ellie’s - she can dance, she’s sweet, likeable, pretty but not intimidating pretty, had the journey that people like to see, gained the confidence and now the ‘pal’ confirming she and Vito are together. If that is a real source I’m kind of disappointed that it’s come out now so close to the final - feels like it is glitterball grab. The fake showmance story they should have just ignored as no one believed that.
Now so close to the final my votes going forward will be for Layton as I do find him and Nikita mesmerising.
For me Layton has improved - he dances as couple now, more focussed and controlled. Comes back each week after receiving such awful online comments and performs. Beautiful dancer, beautiful person. I would love Layton to win as think it would mean more. Also so pleased that Motsi called out the hate Layton is receiving.
I was thinking I wonder if say Tom Holland was on Strictly if he would receive the same level of abuse that Layton is as they have same level of dance experience. I bet not.

I was very disappointed to see how covered up Nikita was when they walked on but it didn’t matter. Their chemistry is insane, from the start where they looked like they were about to devour each other to the end where Layton was stood arms aloft staring down at Nikita on his knees it was 🔥🔥🔥🔥 They have more chemistry in one moment than all the other couples put together.

Weirdy every time Nikita gets down on one knee I appear to involuntarily growl 😂 and 2 of his hottest moments were his hand lingering on Laytons hip and him adjusting his waistcoat as he walks down the stairs. This boy has done something to my brain 🥵

Oh I get what you mean. He was so hot. And adjusting the waistcoat yeah, definitely hot.

Just everything,.the whole vibe, his whole energy.

Nikita is just God tier hot in a category all on his own.
