Anton is a knob for the pro challenge, purposely mocks and puts them off - bring back Craig

I wonder why Craig isn't doing it anymore. It was always nice to see more of the real him and less of the caricature.

I have a sense Bobby will get nice comments along the not wanting to critique something like that, Craig may say a few things but nothing much, Shirley will have a pile of screwed up Kleenex in front of her like she's been in a snowball fight. But possibly not get high scores. Then I remember that Eddie 10.

So apparently Bobby is now already a national treasure? Hmm. I don’t want to slag Jade off too much but this piece feels quite whitewash-y (I’m not sure ‘endearing innocence’ is what comes to mind when people think of her..)

🤣 Exactly.

'You're a star, young man...'

That article is a MEGA puff piece that just feels so... paid for.
Yeah, the fact that the main person they talk to is Jade's friend and biographer is sus. I don't want to demonise Jade, who obviously had a horrible life for the most part, but this 'by the time of her death public opinion had largely forgiven her' feels very PR-y.

I haven't even seen a lot of Beryl chat about Bobby, beyond just 'oh he seems like a nice young man'.

I haven’t either, beryls are either lusting over Vito ( aren’t we all?) or Nigel.

Wow they really are going all out to make sure Bobby doesn’t go this weekend. I think the awareness of Bobby just speaks before he thinks. I work with young people who are a similar age to him who have been through lots of trauma so I find his behaviour pretty mild if I’m honest compared to what I see on a daily basis.

I think there is probably some arrested emotional development going on regardless whether he remember Jade or not. He had a massive loss and grew up as the son of someone who was quite infamous. I admire the fact that he hasn’t capitalised on her fame, although undoubtedly he has gained professionally from being so well known. This is why if TPTB are pushing this CC for ratings and votes it’s really exploitative.

Having said that this a dancing competition and he is definitely the weakest dancer there. Not sure foal-like limbs have a place in the later stages of a dance competition.

I thought Ellie's rehearsal footage looked good, but I'm less sure now I've seen the camera blocking. It might just be the choreography I'm not loving from those clips. She'll be safe no matter where she is on the leaderboard.

Annabel didn't look bad, but definitely the weakest (other than Booby.) It's hard to say whether she's one whose votes will drop off now things are getting serious, like Dan and Ellie T's did, or if she still has enough support to be safe even from the bottom two of the leaderboard. She has consistently improved, so I think her votes might not be as quick to dry up as they did for weaker dancers who plateaued, like Krishnan and Ellie T. She's the one I most want out this week, other than Bobby, but unfortunately I don't think either is likely to happen.

So little of Nigel and what was there doesn't seem great in the hips, but they might have intentionally released the most dodgy looking footage to have an even more exciting 'wow, what a comeback' moment. Even if it isn't great, I don't think he's quite worn out his goodwill with the audience yet. I think he'd have to have a major disaster to land him in the bottom 2, and probably not even then.

Really hard to tell from that short clip for Angela. She looked to have good energy, but will her legs be straight enough? I hope she can pull it off, her Samba wasn't great but it wasn't bad, and Cha Cha should be a bit easier technically.

Bobby looking awkward and without conviction, but it's hard to imagine anyone, even Craig, giving honest feedback. Even if they give him great comments and middling scores, he'll probably still get the votes, but fingers crossed not.

I think Layton looks really good, and massively improved from his Viennese Waltz, but I wouldn't know if there's something off in the footwork. I think I'm tentatively a bit less worried about him ending up in the middle of the leaderboard after seeing the footage, but of course being at the top still may not be enough to keep him out of the dance off anymore. I just hope if he is it's not against Angela. Or Nigel.

Watched La Ballas on Portrait Artist of the Year. I actually felt a tad sorry for her as the three artists that painted her made a dogs dinner out of the final result. Actually some of the worst I have seen on the show.

You could almost hear her going WTF...took all her powers of insincerity to critique them. ;)
Speaking of La Ballas, I saw a video of her and Corky doing a rumba based show dance. If you jump past all the wafty bollocks to the end at 3.29 she does the stirring pot move Layton and Nikita did in their cha cha cha and it’s insane!

Oh that was hilarious … I think the best she could manage for one was a rather choked ‘you’ve put my necklace In, that’s nice’

It’s so long since I did latin and ballroom training that I forget what is or isn’t ’correct’ , but I do agree with your summary. I think Ellie will bring the passion out on the actual dance. Don’t forget they are pacing out the dance in the camera blocks, so it’s never quite the real thing.
I think Annabel looks the weakest frame wise going by the above footage.

Whatever we think about Shirley, she was, and is, a phenomenal dancer.

For all Kevin from Grimsby annoys the bejasus out of me, I did find it interesting when he was covering Choreography Corner and he said he gave up trying to teach the correct technique for the straight leg in the cha cha because it took too long in the time available and just went for an approximation.

That is an absolute 'Well done on your spins!' moment. Amazing!

Having said that nobody is talking about Bobby, I looked at Juliet's FB group there - she did a poll of who people wanted to win, with 3.7k responses (so a lot less than Dave's but maybe a bit of a different demographic?). It went:

Ellie
Bobby (half as many votes as Ellie)
Annabel (very close behind Bobby)
Nigel (very close behind Annabel)
Angela
Layton

I wonder if Bobby is just so inoffensive to some people that they might include him in their votes? Of course that doesn't mean that they would vote for him when it gets to the sharp end..

It’s a ballroom step this year and so The King of Ballroom gets a turn?

I was going to be grumpy on the “unintentionally hilarious” thread on DS but thought I would take it here instead. I just KNEW someone would say how incredibly bloody funny it was when Craig thought Anton was wearing false teeth 🤦‍♀️. I actually found that excruciatingly awkward and felt so desperately sorry for Craig who I think is actually a genuinely sensitive soul and his mortification

There's a lot of dislike for Layton on that page that goes way beyond him being a ringer. His muns on the page and I wondered how she took it but from what she's posted she's taking it in her stride and has clearly heard worse.
