The BBC never release the voting figures afaik, (or did they in 2021 when Rose won convincingly??) This is strange as some of the votes do attract a fee if voting by phone. Why they are different to the commercial channels where they release the figures, X Factor, IACGMOH, Big Brother etc who knows.

We never get to know who is place second, third and fourth, they are just 'runners up'. It is good to know that if a person has won if they were top of the voting every week it looks as though the result is justified.

I can sort of see why they don't, tbh. If one celeb led for a while or a decent part of the show but another won, there'd be all sorts of fixing allegations and even more in fighting between fans and harassment of the participants.

And also imagine being a Zara or Nikita, and discovering that bugger all people had been voting for you. I think it would be humiliating and off-putting to others.
I am not sure a CC dedicated to cervical cancer victims is what TPTB want - I think it might be dedicated to Jeff, with just the allusion to Jade hanging in the air: 'my dad brought me up after my mum died' etc

I hope Ellie skips CC if she gets through - you know they'd give her something 'young' and they covered that with the Charleston.

A a bit worried about Angela I can’t lie. From what I remember her party latin hasn’t been great, similar to Helen last year. Bookies have her as next to go which would be a shame so hopefully she can pull it off

Love Ellie’s song but just not for AT, obviously modern songs can work but I much prefer the traditional music. I feel like she’s the clear favourite to win now so even if it’s not her best she will be fine

Rumba is a hard dance but Nigel was pretty good at CCC technique and can move his hips well so that combined with a classic song he could be ok, will probably send facebook mums feral which will help with votes 🤣 hopefully he uses his acting skills to really sell it

Was hoping for some laid back ballroom from Layton this week but with that song I doubt it… should be good but not sure if he’s now going to start falling into the dance off regardless of how well he dances

The thought of Bobby flailing his long arms & hands around while trying to dance contemporary is making me feel a bit on edge but I would imagine if it’s dedicated to Jade he might get a boost in votes

Annabel has great music and although her & Johannes do have a great partnership i’m not sure if they will be able to convey the correct energy for paso, her best dances are the slow romantic ones

It’s because the telephone votes are handled externally from the BBC by Telecom (I think) (and so the actual voting figures are known only by extremely few people at the BBC) and to release the figures would give too much information to Telecoms competitors.I think it was said in answer to a freedom on information request as a reason why it doesn’t fall under FoI.

We could, obviously, know the podium positions, but the Producers have obviously decided that everyone in the final gets a lollipop and a sticker.

Does the leaderboard make a difference I thought it was just the voting that counted?
If there's only six left the top on the LB gets 6 and then the others 5, 4, etc. If, say, Layton got 6 from the judges and was bottom of the voting he'd get 7 in total. It would then depend on how the voting went for the others. Say Angela got 3 overall (1 from judges and 2 from public) and say, Annabel got 5 (3 from judges, 2 from public) then Layton would be safe. Obviously ties can come into it.

From my understanding they get a point for their judges score based on their position on the leaderboard. So if there are 6 couples, top of the leader board gets 6 points, bottom get 1. They then do the same with viewer votes: favourite get 6 points, least 1. These are added together.

I have said before, I would prefer it if no one did CC. I don’t like the category, I don’t think it can be judged fairly. If Strictly are determined to keep it, then they should all be on the same night. Maybe once there are about 7 or 8 couples left.
I have occasionally enjoyed the performances, like Helen’s F.U to her ex, or Charles and Karen’s street dance. But most of the time it is either manipulative or doesn’t make sense. I mean, I love Krishnan, but what was ‘You can call me Al’ all about? Or poor Molly with Grange Hill!

Or what Soccergirl said!

The leaderboard position is huge. The positions are converted into points so for this week
Layton and Nikita = 7 points
Ellie and Vito = 7 points (because they both had 39)
Angela and Carlos = 6 points
Annabel and Johannes = 5 points
Bobby and Dianne = 5 points (another tied score on 35)
Nigel and Katya = 4 points
Angela and Kai = 3 points.

Then the public votes are converted into points and added to the total (so top with public vote = 7 and because the chances of a tied number of votes is almost minuscule these will run down to 1). If there is a points tie after that then then public vote ranking is the tie breaker and takes precedence.

The more ties, the easier it is for the bottom placed to escape and the higher placed to fall down.

This is absolutely apropos of nothing but I was watching a few old dances and Alesha's Waltz came up.

They did it to Memory and I remember at the end Brucey went "Oh, and Elaine Page is here!" and Matt Cutler went "Is she?!" and him and Alesha just sort of awkwardly waved at her 😂

I love it when they get somebody to do a VT if a celeb has danced to their song or represented their character and neither the person in the VT nor the celeb knows who the other is or what's going on.

I don't really want to know the amount of votes each celeb is pulling in, but would love to know the tally of votes the show actually gets each week. The final, in particular.

Like, if it gets 5-6 million viewers, how many do really bother voting? Half of that? Less? Is it really just the invested online fans who tend to bother?

Oh I love that dance so. It's my favourite VW, or at least the first one that springs to mind whenever I think of my favourite. The speed change with the key change is just gorgeous!

I just saw their VW to White Christmas which was also gorgeous. It's the little details (plus fact camera man isn't filming it all from above 😬)

I bet most don’t bother. I’ve watched most of the series but never voted before this year and my hormones were inexplicably taken over by Nikita fever.
