Christ on a bike - I wasn't familiar with This Woman's Worth so I looked up the lyrics and the meaning behind the song and I'm sat here having a little cry! I'm pretty emotional anyway but I had a difficult birth and my baby was very poorly so it hit me pretty hard 😢 no idea how I'll cope hearing it on Saturday, although hopefully the singers will butcher it enough to lessen the emotional impact!
Kate Bush is awesome. Such a complete talent.

this is what I'm hoping for to be honest. Even if jf is a blatant and cynical ploy by the producers, the song really gets to me!

I've just had a little listen and it turns out I recognise the chorus but didn't realise what it was! I've also edited my previous post as I got the song title wrong 😅

I wonder if instead of the CC being about "my dead mum" and focusing on exploiting his grief, it'll be more about the work she did to campaign about smear tests and raise awareness about cervical cancer? Still bordering on exploitative and manipulative, but something more positive and that will help raise awareness even more?

This Woman's Work is a song about a man fearing for the life of his wife and child during a difficult childbirth, it's not relevant to Bobby's situation at all.

The whole thing feels very cheap, tbh, and how can the judges possibly criticise without being made out to be heartless bastards?

And then poor Dianne has to perform a routine about a dead parent while her own father's battling cancer? duck off, show. Really.

This is close to the bottom of the barrel, even for Strictly.

How is it that annabel did a couples choice for her husband and everyone adored and praised it to no end but as soon as bobby wants to do one for his mum which he's been very open about wanting to do there's issues from all directions?

The song may not be a great choice and everyone has mixed opinions on jade but at the end of the day she was still his mum if only for a short while if he chooses to dedicate a dance to her then that's his choice and I'm sure dianne would speak up if she had an issue with the song.
We shouldn't be deciding who the dance should be for

But we have to be fair after annabelles dance.

To some degree I don’t think it matters what the song is actually about … the lyrics easily work for a different scenario.

i just feel so sorry for Dianne. Her emotions must be understandably all over the place anyway and then To have to spend the week listening to those lyrics, regardless of anything else going on with the dance. Just give the lass some support.

I think the fact that Bobby has been so open about not remembering his mum, people are just surprised that he now wants to potentially dedicate a dance to her. It also leaves a bad taste in my mouth that Dianne has to be part of a dance about a parent who died of cancer when her own dad is currently battling it, obviously she won’t have been forced into it but it just feels a bit off to me. I just hope it was their choice and they didn’t feel any pressure from producers.

The CC to This woman's work has to be dedicated to the women currently battling with cervical cancer and those who have sadly passed from it, and if so it should be a lovely tribute from Bobby.

(No way can it be dedicated to Jade 'working' as a reality star sitting on her arse in the big brother house spreading racism, that would be sacrilege)

i think the two scenarios are very different tbh. annabel did strictly FOR her husband and wanted to paired with johannes for that reason. she also appeared to have a huge amount of agency in what she and her children shared, what was incorporated in their routine etc.

bobby is still a young man with a complicated relationship with a mother he, by his own admission, doesn’t feel like he truly knew. yet so much of his “celebrity” is still intertwined with being her son. people wanted this from the moment he was cast but i wonder what bobby himself actually WANTS to do. if this is fully his choice, then all power to him. but the cynic in me thinks the show had this planned for him the moment he signed up. this doesn’t even take into account the emotional impact on dianne.

For Bobby, not the most well known songs from Kate Bush, they quote the version by Maxwell which really isn't as catchy as Kate's and am imagining the singers butchering it. How the blazes did Bobby get to know this song, seems a very strange choice of an immature 20 something young lad. It will be a bit wafty will finish on a quiet note and the audience won't know when to clap.

Annabel dancing to the so very traditional paso tune. She will perform it well, she is getting better with the art of performance each week, under JoJo's superb teaching.

Layton dancing to my most hated song ever, they will make a good job of it so long as they don't go too rogue. He is such a good dancer but cannot remember when he has just done a traditional dance and left it at that. Angel R had a variety of dances that suited her with no real difference, Layton has had the same and of course the AS can be interpreted in many styles.

Angela S and the cha cha cha, always an unknown I will survive, perhaps she may.

Ellie and the AT, with Leandro and Maria choreographing it is always a spectacle in itself. The song has a twangy AT tune at the start and the beat will lend itself to the dance depending on which part of the song they decide to use.

Nigel, ohh Nigel, may be a bit biased but he can do all sorts with his hips, we have seen that, if he gets that action down and with Katya adding the lovely lines. Good song for the rumba and his acting should come to the fore. I can but hope.

All in all I can't help feeling much depends on the judges critique and scoring, as feelings are getting a bit heightened with the various supporters by this and some are swayed by the judges placement of the couples. Only 6 left now, bit squeaky bum time, imagine Ellie is the only one who is safe. Wouldn't we all love to know the voting figures.

Annabel had built a life and family with her husband while Bobby admits he doesn't remember Jade. Add in the fact that Dianne has to dance a dance about a parent who died from cancer while her own dad just started chemo to treat his cancer and she's on the other of the world and this is what you get. Nobody is blaming them for it, they feel bad for them.

I have often wondered if the viewing figures ever get released so that after the final we find out who comes second and third .
I know it wouldn't change anything but it would be good to see in the end where exactly all the contestants finished not just those who miss out on the final kinda thing .

Annabel seems to have a lot of support so she could be safe. Personally would prefer her to be out this week.

Layton will need to top the leaderboad for guranteed safety. Think he or Ellie will top it (unless they put Bobby top with his CS)

Think Angela will be in the bottom 2 with a Cha Cha. Nigel could go either way with rumba, wonder who the judges would save out of them? Nigel might struggle with the pressure.

Ellie is safe no matter what.

Imagine how awkward it would be if Bobby ended up in the bottom 2, and getting booted with a tribute to his dead mum.

The BBC never release the voting figures afaik, (or did they in 2021 when Rose won convincingly??) This is strange as some of the votes do attract a fee if voting by phone. Why they are different to the commercial channels where they release the figures, X Factor, IACGMOH, Big Brother etc who knows.

We never get to know who is place second, third and fourth, they are just 'runners up'. It is good to know that if a person has won if they were top of the voting every week it looks as though the result is justified.

I’m disturbed at the amount of people that still want to shag Fanny rat.

I don’t get any kind of romantic or sexual vibe from Ellie and Vito at all. I’ll be interested to see how they manage the intensity of the AT. All of their dances, other than the Paso and Rumba, have been smiley, cheeky performances. I didn’t get any sexual or romantic vibes from the Paso or Rumba either even though they were both very well done.
Rumba was emotional (but not sexy) and paso was fierce

This is probably their first dance where they have to lean into the overt ~passion~

But Vito is very good and Ellie is an actress and has managed to nail the moods of her dances so far, so they should be fine

I am delighted for Angela Scanlon and Carlos with their AT! Doubly so as she seems to be so far out of her comfort zone. They are delightful
