I think Layton was wearing a knee pad for the floor work rather than a strap/brace. I actually don’t think their dance deserved a 40 this week, I think people are only saying it did because they felt like they deserved it after last weeks robbery. I still can’t get my head around why Craig didn’t give that Argentine Tango a 10. I’m getting the vibe that a lot of the pros are tired now, it’s getting to the stage where they really need to be doing well every week and if something doesn’t go as planned or how you hoped it must be gutting.

Blackpool is also such a massive deal for the pros - Nikita has danced there since he was a child but this was his first Strictly there. He's probably just a bit let down after all the hype, even though they were great. I think if everyone is predicting you'll get a 40 it's hard..

Nah, they might be a bit disappointed but I don’t think either one of them will be heartbroken.

They're both professionals in their fields and they know sometimes (or quite often in Nigel’s case 😬) it doesn't go your way.
 
In regards to Nikita, also worth taking into consideration, if he looked and/or seemed a little off, his blood sugars may have been going low. Or, had been low prior to performing and he was in 'recovery' mode.

But, I do think he was just genuinely gutted. I think it was a shame they went to Craig first, as it just killed the buzz entirely. He probably couldn't even hear the positive FB from the other judges after that.

And god bless the voters for allowing me to experience such schadenfreude with this result.
Unless Nigel is about to get eliminated by Bobby in which case I will be burning Blackpool Tower to the ground…
