I love how Nikita approaches this same sex partnership. He makes it as sexy (actually sexier because he would be given the youngest) than with previous partnerships with women. He's exactly what Gio wasn't. Gio was so uncomfortable dancing with a man so it had to be upbeat, side by side lest anyone thought he'd caught the gay. 🙄

I'm not a fan of Layton. I never am of the ones who have professional dance experience. I'm all about the J word! I know you need a mix because a whole cast of Ann Widdecombes would be dreadful tv, but I get far more enjoyment from watching Krishnan put in a fun performance than something where my husband has to ask me which one is the professional.
Same!!! I also enjoy the surprise you get when celebrities like Angela S and Annabel knocking it out of the park!! To me that's what makes Strictly so good!

This week's most liked dances (and compared with previous two weeks) according to official Strictly FB and IG.

*Bobby was unusually low down on the list this week, so not a massive shock on that sense that he slipped onto the DO, although I was still surprised.

I think Ellie would get the same response Nigel did because she’s likeable - the only acceptable thing for a woman to be on Strictly. If it was Angela R or Annabel then they definitely be torn to pieces. Similarly, Nigel can show upset at the feedback because he’s a handsome straight white man. Bobby would probably get the same allowance too because he’s young and most viewers find him sweet and helpless whereas Layton would be attacked and labelled arrogant within seconds.

I love Strictly but there’s very clear biases that I actively have to ignore at points to allow myself to enjoy my frivolous Saturday night entertainment.
And in fact, remember how Angela got slagged for looked annoyed with the feedback? and had to clarify on ITT that that was her ´listening face´ (and who knows, maybe she´s a bit hard of hearing at 80?)

Not Helping, Ellie’s mum!

In the very same week that Bobby also looked pissed off with his comments, quite a bit moreso I would say, and yet nowhere near as much was said about that.

We’ve had this during the recent series of Big Brother Facebook Karen’s and Darren’s who are blatantly racist, homophobic and transphobic. The worst thing that ever happened to FB was the boomer generation discovering it.

I don’t ever get to watch in real time so I usually just read along on here and don’y contribute as everything has already been said!
However… I don’t get the tit Nigel is getting for his reaction. He was disappointed, angry (at himself, I think) and it showed. It’s an entertainment show… wouldn’t it be dull if they all just smiled sweetly at the end and said ‘thank you very much’. Same goes for them all… it’s far more interesting to watch when you see their genuine reactions. No one has given Carlos any tit for crying out of pride/happiness (rightly so), but anger and disappointment are normal human emotions too.
Disclaimer… not a thirsty Mumsnet Nigel fan, I think he’s pretty meh, but don’t think his reaction is an issue.

Yeah exactly
Were not going to be lusting over a daft 20 year old lad when we've got man like Harman to give our coils a wobble, we're not hurting anyone there's room for all in the big strictly thirst trap surely 💦
I like Kai, Johannes, Nikita, Vito, Layton, Graz - but like brothers, or sons in some cases, age wise. 😁

I like Nigel, I like his self deprecating sense of humour and I like his partnership with Katya. And I like his voice, he can read the dictionary or phone directory to me any time he chooses 🤣

I didn't overly love the way he acted in the stage door bit, because I felt sorry for poor Katya trying to be encouraging and cheer him up and him just not having any of it, but I can't really blame him either. Far worse mistakes have been glossed over and given higher scores on many occasions, fair enough him not plastering on a fake smile. It's not like he flipped the judge's desk and stormed out of the building.

Last snippet from me and then I really will shut up about going! Just caught up on the results show and they cut out lots of Kai’s exit speech which explained why he was so emotional. It was the 10 year anniversary of his Gran’s death and she would’ve been the same age as Angela. He talked about how being with Angela had bought her back to him for a while. It was really touching but I suppose didn’t fit the narrative so they chopped it!

Ellie isn’t really that likeable though - she’s incredibly bland. Personally, I don’t like her at all - she’s not inspiring, I don’t feel moved by her dances. They’re good, yes, but they’ve not got the sexiness of Nigel’s, the joy of Bobby’s, the ‘journey’ of Annabel’s, or the sheer fire of Layton’s.
But I do think she benefits from the other contestants this year being such strong personalities. They can be a bit marmite, whereas Ellie gives the impression of being more likeable because she’s the only middle of the road (you might even say boring) personality left.

Exactly - this is a really significant partnership to everyone. I'm voting exclusively for Layton from now on, I think. His win would mean the most and he doesn't deserve a shred of the flack he's getting (not even for being a ringer as that's an issue with production, he's not personally responsible for his place on the show)
I totally agree and he got all my votes on Saturday and will for the rest of the series.

Now I want someone to do this. And reveal what they keep under the desk. The creepy little shoes must surely be there! 🤣

Absolutely each to their own! I find Nigel as sexy as a middle manager at a small rental car company near Heathrow. :)And good as Annabel is, and moving as he story is, I will never ever vote for her due to her horrid views.

Just generally with regards to Bobby and comments -

Going back to Saturday night Shirley honestly never ceases to amaze me year on year the way she attaches herself from week 1 onto the youngest male contest salivates and blows smoke up their arses with the biggest grin on her face always like she's about to tuck into them.

First was Joe Sugg, her biggest love nothing matters you're just wonderful etc
Next was Hrvy Cantwell nothing matters you are amazing and those moves, just wow etc
Now Bobby Brazier none of those mistakes matter those hips thrusts, my darling trust me you are amazing no matter what you just have it all etc

I never see an ounce of bias from Motsi I listen to her the most for balaced sense in fact Craig tends to also be unbiased anyone is fair game but Shirley honestly should be ashamed imo.

Same and Same!

Nigel seems like a nice enough bloke (when he hasn't got a face like a smacked arse) but personally I find him about as erotic as a wet flannel.
