Ugh, just seen this tit on twitter. Remind me to never go near facebook.
This wasn't a comment on the CC either, this is from the stupid Blankety Blanks game. Where they were not draped all over each other, just sitting the same amount of distance apart as everyone else. As enraging as it is, you kinda have to laugh a bit too. How does the whiny snowflake in the second screenshot function if she can't stand to see a man put his hand on another man's shoulder for 1.5 seconds? Bet she doesn't have a problem with any of the other couples draping themselves all over each other, which they all do.
You know what, I take back saying I wish they'd done something with more dance content and less posing and swinging around a pole, I'm glad Layton did exactly what he wanted, had a great time doing it, topped the leaderboard and dodged the dance off, and hopefully caused a few aneurysms among the Neanderthal population.
Plus they’re all talking shite - they’ll be watching it next year just the same. Here's a thing. Strictly posted a video of Johannes backstage, looking drop dead gorgeous in the green jumpsuit. There were actually comments (with vomiting emojis) saying how it was disgusting he was on the show. He's a professional, and if he wins they'll stop watching.
It had to be pointed out to these individuals that they were, in fact, mixing up their gay black man, and that this was Johannes, not Layton.
The audiences reaction to a privately educated, middle class, white man who had his first TV role aged 8/9, went to theatre school and has extensive musical theatre experience really does very accurately show their unconscious bias. He is every bit as much of a ringer as Layton, probably more so as he was doing this way before Layton was even born, in fact he was in the original cast of Mama Mia when Layton was only 5 years old. Layton works his arse off, Nikita added that photo the other week of him heading off to training before 7am, and delivers with every performance. He expresses gratitude for feedback, is everyone elses biggest cheerleader and he gets slated with people saying he shouldn’t even be on the show. Nigel will probably win because lots of people feel bad for him because he can’t take criticism and is not demonstrating any resilience despite the fact that he has been in show business for 42 years.
All the sympathy white middle class Annabelle is getting following the death of her husband, remember the vitriol Alexandra Burke, whose mother died days before strictly, got? She probably used strictly to distract herself from her grief too, worked her arse off and delivered with every performance and she got relentlessly trolled.
Like @jfletcher said above. My frustration isn’t at Nigels reactions, he’s human and is clearly very frustrated and disappointed as he wants to do well. My frustration is with the double standard and really obvious bias that the audience shows.
This is what I think makes Layton and Nikita such a special partnership. They don’t allow the blatant homophobia to dilute their performances. If anything they say a big duck you to the homophobes and push things as far as they can. Nikita is so much more than an ally. Their performances are as sexy as they would be with an opposite sex partnership. Nikita openly shows affection and love towards Layton without a hint of self-consciousness despite the overt hostility that is shown toward Layton and his sexuality.

As dramatic as this may sound I really do think this partnership is pretty ground breaking and I know that so many people from the LGBTQ community will be watching them and feeling as if maybe it’s ok for them to be who they are.
I wasn't watching back then but I have read a bit about it, recently. That's appalling.the annabel-alexandra comparison is so valid.
i don’t think anyone in this show (happy to be corrected) has ever received the level of vitriol that alexandra did. and all she did was, completely spontaneously, say “i wish my mum was here” after her jive?! and then have the nerve to be a confident woman who knew her own abilities. i’m mad about it to this day.

I didn’t explore my sexuality until my late 30’s as I repressed any feelings I had and my Aunt (who is only 7 years older than me so can’t use the excuse of it being a generational thing) has not spoken to me since she found out and threw a load of homophobic slurs my way. A few months ago she saw my brother and after nearly 6 years of no contact with me all she could say was ‘Is Boogs still pretending to be a lesbian?’ I’m sure she would be overjoyed to know that Nikita’s homoerotic dancing is making me question thatThis, absolutely. I love that they openly hug and kiss each other on the cheek, Nikita isn't afraid to be seen being tactile with Layton, and isn't one bit uncomfortable when Layton touches him. It's the polar opposite of Gio and Ritchie.
Young LGBTQ+ kids out there NEED to see representation like this on TV - and so do adults. So many are still uncomfortable with who they are and feel ashamed... I didn't come out as Pan until I was in my 30s.

hello Daily Mail! , you can pay me my commission into my bank laterStrictly's Nigel Harman 'storms off' dancefloor after low score
The actor, 50, and his pro dance partner Katya Jones ' routine to Duke Ellington's It Don't Mean A Thing left them second from bottom of the judges' leaderboard, with a score of 31 points out of 40.www.dailymail.co.uk
Oops the daily fail has now made an article about Nigel although they have made something out of nothing. I defo think it’s hard to keep a fake smile when it seems the judges are more harsh on you than others who have made mistakes.
I do wonder if Dianne’s experience with her dad is going to trigger something in Bobby. He had a massive loss at a very early age and apparently hasn’t had any counselling. This could be an emotional rollercoaster for him.Even a dance dedicated to Bobby’s Dad is going to be emotional for Dianne with everything going on in her life. Feels cruel to put her through it especially when she's already finding it so difficult. I do hope she's getting proper support. And I do commend Bobby for how he coped. He showed a maturity he's not shown before.
