100% agree with you.
This isn't eurodance... It's meant to be fun and the competitors are meant to be varied in age, ability, background, etc! I miss the days of the absolute clangers knocking half decent dancers out of the competition to be honest. A lot of viewers take it far too seriously with all this "it's a dance competition" stuff.
It's a glitzy celebrity challenge show for people to watch on cold Saturday nights with a glass of wine and a chinese.
That is exactly what it is. It's my comfort tv for the time it's on. Even better with the chats on here.

And when they managed to put on a show during lockdown and all the restrictions, that cheered me up an awful lot.

Some people really are just pricks. We should be celebrating people like Ellie Simmonds and strictly for being inclusive.

Absolutely this, as a mum of young children the one thing I love about strictly is how inclusive it is, no one is made to feel "different" and that for me is so important, especially for younger people watching; I want my kids to be able to accept anyone who is different to them without question and having this on a prime time show like strictly really helps x

I hope this makes as much sense in print as it does in my head lol

I'm bitter and twisted that Krishnan was sent on his way in favour of Angela Ripon.

I don't tend to get too bothered but I was really upset at the results. Seemed really unfair, as her performance was clearly inferior with mistakes.😭

Ehhh... I'm torn really. I 🩷🩷🩷 Krishnan, and I adored how much joy he got from being on Strictly... but... I knew as soon as I saw his Samba that he wouldn't be sticking around. His performance level had definitely improved from week one, but he still looked like he was only delivering at 50%. There was also a lot of standing around at the end.

I get choosing a more technical routine with a recovered mistake over a very simple and undersold routine with no mistakes. Likewise, in a different scenario, I can appreciate a joyful, enthusiastically performed dance with a mistake being chosen over something dull and joyless without one. So, I'm a bit six of one, half a dozen of the other with it.

Oof Ellie’s bruises. Hope this Charlestonnis worth it! She looks fab though, and seems so much more body confident

Same. I adored Krishnan & Lauren, and I’m not fussed about The Ripponator one way or the other,
but even with a mistake it’s not impossible that one person could deliver an overall better execution of more complex choreography than their dance-off opponent who made no mistakes.

As I’ve pondered before, imagine a hypothetical dance-off between Ashley Roberts & Anne Widdicombe, in which Ashley slips a bit in one move but Anne doesn’t - who would you choose to go through?

True, the disparity between Krishnan/Angela isn’t quite as extreme as Anne/Ashley, but not slipping doesn’t automatically mean that it was a ‘better’ dance.

Yeah, I’m not sure Brooke Vincent has that amount of sway, TBH🤷‍♀️

Maybe not, but she was on coronation street around the same time ellie was cast, and she'd been there since she was a child.

I'm not saying she definitely got the role because of her, just saying it was possible. If she wouldn't have any sway surely Jeff brazier doesn't either?

Should probably say it wasnt meant as a negative towards ellie, i like her dancing and think she's been consistant throughout. Was just pointing out they both have some similarities.

eek I've noticed the bruising on her arms before but that's a lot of bruising! I love that she seems so much more confident in herself wherever her career goes after Strictly I really hope she takes this confidence along with her.

I don't think Jeff Brazier has any sway in getting Bobby jobs but he will have the contacts and PR know-how to help get him a foot in the door, more so than the average Joe.

In terms of Ellie and Corrie I suppose it was similar-ish, Brooke likely told her there was a part coming up so she auditioned
