I think for me this is why Layton & Nikita’s partnership feels a bit more special than John & Johannes. Of course they paved the way and without them we might not have ended up here, but seeing a gay man and a straight man dance together without any worries or concerns is amazing. I’m really glad the producers didn’t go down the road of automatically giving the gay pro the same sex partnership every time.

And poor Nikita was just trying to have a romantic moment and point out how pretty the stars looked in the sky but Layton was too busy throwing himself over him (lucky bastard).
 
I wish Craig's reason for the 9 was just the splayed hand, because the reason he gave on the results show is really an issue with the choreography that they can't change, so it's either going to be another anti-climactic moment when it gets 39 again in the final, or else he gives the 10 and looks silly when it's exactly the same as last time.
 
I'm hoping both Ellie and Layton get 40, that would take a little bit of the anti-ringer heat off Layton for getting the first perfect score for a dance style he's already a professional in.

'Twould be awkward if none of the dances next week are as good as they were this week but he still has to give someone 40 just because it's Blackpool. Tbh that's how I felt last year. Not that Fleur's Couple's Choice wasn't good, but it felt a bit ridiculous when her Samba the week before was better. And, I'd argue, Kym's Argentine Tango and Molly's Rumba as well.

After what somebody said above about Bobby never having to work for anything it set me wondering if the perceived lightness of the criticism of Bobby is due both to his age and the judges feeling that the others can take it?

Nigel, Amanda, Layton, Ellie and Adam will have heard far worse than even Craig's hardest put down as auditioning actors. Eddie is a comedian, he lives or dies by potentially drunk or hostile crowds. Annabelle's from the extremely tough world of professional sport and will probably have had strict coaching from a young age.

Bobby, on the other hand, will probably never have heard the word no in his life. The judges are a bit over generous with their comments but as has been pointed out, they've never scored him over 32, unlike most of the others left, who've they criticised more harshly.

I doubt ellie had to audition for coronation street. She got the role through nepotism like bobby did.

To be fair to Craig, he did. If he’d used the right reason. If you watch the end section where they are dancing in hold, Layton‘s hand is splayed out like a starfish on Nikita’s shoulder which is usually an automatic point dock for him.

She did … I’ve seen an interview with her about getting down to the final 5 and that she the other girls for the part were older.

I think the people seriously shipping them must not have paid any attention to Nikita before this year. He's always had the same cheeky, flirty demeanour. He's not acting any different this year, aside from being a bit more excited, because, duh, he's got a ringer, of course he's in a good mood!

That said, I was bemused by people who speculated there was something more than platonic between John and Johannes. I rolled my eyes whenever people were like 'ooh John's boyfriend looks fuming!' and then look what happened. 😂
