Due to family emergencies I watched both the semi-final and final on catchup, fast-forwarding through all the filler and stupid stuff. I got the semi down to 25 minutes, the final down to around 40.

It was a sensible, very watchable experience, I think I'll do that again this year.

So farewell then, Cameron, we hardly knew ye. I guess they might announce new pros later on but it seems excessive given that they will want to give Lauren a partner and presumably all the male pros [bar CFP]

ETA: not sure whether the pro show features a mechanics routine or Vito is just wearing a boiler suit to fuel my fanfics..

So, who do we think is going to be benched then? 😆

Neil is pretty much a given surely, but other than him there doesn't seem to be anyone else in male line up who's an obvious candidate - Graziano had a decent run last year, Carlos and Vito both got to the final (although they were both given ringer-y celebs)

Probably wishful thinking, but I hope they give Luba a chance this year and bench Nadiya instead. Nothing against her and she's an amazing dancer, but I would just like to see what Luba can do with someone half-decent. I reckon Michelle will probably be benched again and Lauren gets a partner this year

As soon as I saw Gorka I thought of you! He did annoy me a bit last year but I’m glad he’s back, he’s a very good choreographer.

Not a big shock not to see Cameron in the line up. I hope Luba gets a partner but I’m not sure she will. Unpopular opinion but maybe it’s time to bench some of the longer-serving dancers (I’m thinking Dianne, Karen and Amy but that’s just personal preference - Katya could come into that category too) and give Luba, Lauren and Michelle a go. Neil - don’t hold your breath fella 😔.

I was hoping Shirley would be moving on but no luck

I agree with you about giving Luba, Lauren and Michelle partners. It would be nice to see Amy, Nadiya and Dianne benched. Yeah, yeah, I know it won't happen it would be definitely nice to have a series without Amy and Dianne's underwhelming, predictable dances.

Totally agree and after Karen got lumbered with Jayde last year, she probably does deserve at least one more chance of getting a really good dancer she can push and enjoy a great run with!
 
Some people on twitter are acting shocked that Cameron wasn’t brought back…

He was benched for his two years there and they didn’t even give him a christmas special partner. He was out of sync with the others in virtually every group dance. He didn’t go on any of the tours and didn’t even make an effort to put himself out there on social media. I don’t see what the shock is
 
I think if they are going to give Lauren and Michelle a chance it wont be this year; I think until a couple of pro's leave then they will be on the bench. It's Strictly's own fault for hiring too may pros last year.

I'm actually surprised to see Karen and Luba back; I would have though Karen may want to move on now for being there 10 years plus; Luba has not really contributed much either.

I can see if they were to give Lauren or Michelle a partner then it would maybe be Nadiya or Nancy being benched as they have been before. Both of their choreography's are not really up too much especially last year with Will's cape flying about the place in the paso! :LOL:
