It really surprises me with his crazy touring schedule (I imagine like the last couple of years he’ll add to that a tour with Anton, Donaheys weekends, some teaching and other side hustles) that he doesn’t take better care of himself physically. I guess he’s one of those people that thinks ‘well I’ve always been fine so

It leaves no time for much life around it- seeing family and friends and chilling. And then with strictly even if you don’t go far you are still a slave to the filming schedule.

Having seen Giovanni on tour, it’s clear to see it’s what he loves and I wouldn’t be surprised if he does give up Strictly this year or next. He did say though that he would be back for this year as he didn’t want his last dance to be the Lion King one

If he wanted his last dance to be good, he should have bowed out after Rose. After all, he could easily do something worse than Lion King-gate this year.

Yeah, I think this year might be his last and he will probably get a contender to go out on a high. He'll be 33 and he seems over SCD, not to mention the physical exertion (pace Actimel). Re: partners, I wonder if it might be Jowita next year if they are still together? Or just bring out a rotating selection of instababes, different one every night.

Ikr, it instantly reminded me of the poster for that crappy Dracula adaptation on NBC that got canceled after one season
He better not, they should tell him to shove off if he asks for one as well. Not fair on the new guys when he's had his chances and could have left after winning. If he wants to 'leave on a high' then go to the back of the queue and wait his turn again like Pasha did between Caroline & Ashley.

I wouldn't be so sure that Gio wants to leave any time soon. I'm guessing that perhaps seeing AJ and Aljaz's attempts at post-Strictly acting careers flop might have dissuaded him from going down that path in a hurry.
I think Gio either leaves or turns into the new Brendan in that he'll keep coming back without any real interest in it to flog tickets for his tour.

Yeah, this is the impression I'm getting from the pros in general. I've read a few recent promo interviews Gorka and Karen have done for their tour, and when they're asked about Strictly, it's now very much 'i love it and I want to stay for as long as they want me/until my body gives up' basically
I know the pros are probably better off than most, but why would anyone willingly give up their main chunk of income right now

which is exactly what happened last year, isn’t it.
I think he lobbied hard for the same sex partnership and had his bluff called when he still got basically the same kind of partner that he was always scheduled to get.
when he realised he absolutely checked out and sulked. I mean when the worst you can say about your celeb is that they are a tad too excited to be there, it makes you look a bit of a berk. Especially when Jade is right there.

Yes, on the other hand he is a bit shafted now if he stays with Jowita (unlikely IMO) as he won't be able to play on a showmance, and Rose fans will be furious if he does the same old routine with someone else. He'd prob be best with a Faye type - super competent, no romance, professional.
There is a lot of discussion on DS about the presumed casting of a wheelchair user - they seem to think it will be a woman: Sophie Morgan or Abby Cook (I don't know much about either but apparently Abby is the new Blue Peter presenter and very into wheelchair sports). That would mean, presumably a male pro - I wonder if he'd be in the frame again: surely not after Rose? I'd like to see one of the other fairly experienced men get a shot like Johannes, Gorka, or Kai.

I can’t for the life of me fathom why they chose that creepy pic to market a light entertainment show by a cheesy Italian dancer that features musical theatre.
Much as Jowita is obviously more than good enough, I can’t see her being his leading lady as he doesn’t really like to share the spotlight on his tours (unless it’s Anton), and to have her now she’s won the glitterball would surely make it more of a joint-headliner tour like Karen and Gorka/Nadiya and Kai.
ETA: Also, with his relationships barely scraping over a year generally, it would be hedging A LOT of bets

I think it all depends on which pros get a partner this year. If Lauren gets one and does well then I would think the SCD tour would be a more realistic option, she can’t tour with Gio forever and if she’s going to be a long standing pro like most of them are these days then transitioning to the official strictly tours makes sense.It's such an intense schedule - I guess it's a case of make hay while the sun's shines? Have to say, it seems to be a pretty smart move to announce it now so those happy punters who've just been to see him will no doubt have their credit cards at the ready
I wonder if Lauren will be part of it again? His thing seems to be use a new female pro as his leading lady, but not someone who's famous enough to get billing on the posters (Luba, then Nancy, now Lauren)
I guess Craig might be a bit miffed if pros don't do the tour, but I don't think it really matters - Oti didn't do it after she won with Kelvin. It does make me laugh how Anton spent years refusing to do the tour... until he became a judge so could spend most of it sitting down

Yes, I think the show will give her a good run this year so she'd be silly to turn down the tour in that case to play second fiddle to Gio and his Freddy Mercury impression.
According to his PA LadyLav tickets for meet and greets with him next year are selling out! (Surely at some point her credit card will max out..)
I think the documentary is 4 x 1-hour programmes! That will test all but the most devout.

It always makes me laugh when people praise the meet and greets and say how friendly and charming the pro is … of course they are. You’ve paid upwards of £100 for them to be. Even me at my most morose could summon up a grin and a giggle for that. I imagine that it’s there and the merchandising where the big profits lay so unless they want to kill the goose that lays the golden egg, they will dance to whatever tune they are told to.
