What Strictly should be at all times 😍

I love it even more as it was his choice on how to end the routine according to Lauren!

I wouldn’t mind him winning right now coz suddenly it’s all got a bit ugly. The comments flying from other celebs, Jonathan Goodwin etc… this is what I was talking about earlier. Amanda, either just come out and say it or don’t but stop this sideshow one way or the other. tit or get off the pot, as the saying goes

I have to agree. - it's all a bit 'Facebook vague', isn't it? Just need someone to reply with 'U OK Hun?' And she can say 'it's private' 🤣

I’ve just skimmed the comments on Amanda’s post and Gio’s post: pretty much the ENTIRETY of the current Strictly cohort (celebs, pros, even Claudia & the Gilk) and countless former contestants (even Craig Kelly!) have posted in support of Amanda.

Gio just has a crying emoji from Michelle Visage, a comment from Lauren, and a comment from Nadiya.

WTF has gone on?!

God DS is properly pissing me off this year, for the first time I don't even want to read over there anymore. I swear they're being more nuts than usual.

Some of the criticisms of Layton are beyond ridiculous. You can just say you don't like him and/or the way he dances without making up some nonsense argument to try to prove you're objectively correct that he's both too good to be there and also actually terrible at the same time.

On ITT they talk about it being a Cuban-style Salsa that's a bit different from the style usually seen on Strictly. The judges also mention it being a Cuban salsa. They do two lifts commonly seen in Salsas and a couple of not-very-Salsa-y spins that last like 3 seconds at most
those twatwaffles: There was no Salsa in it, that was a street dance with a bunch of gymnastics!

They do a jazzy intro to their Quickstep then stay in hold almost all of the rest of the time until the end.
these douchecanoes: That wasn't really a Quickstep because he kicked his leg in the air a couple of times. That was a Quickstep themed Showdance!

He spent 5 seconds doing the splits, which cancels out all the Cha Cha steps and means they don't actually count! etc etc etc

That was a fair enough complaint about his Samba, I think the balance between traditional/basic content and showing off what he can already do was a little off there, but understandable for week 1 and since then there's been improvement in that area. But nope, not according to the Beryls, every week he comes out and does the exact same dance he's already a professional at.

Funny how I didn't see anyone say Nigel didn't do a Foxtrot when he crawled around on a bartop, stepped on Katya's foot, then crawled back on the bar again. Nor mention that he already has experience in the style of the out of hold sections (I like Nigel, and I've liked all his dances, even the Jive, but come on 😂)

Because I'm a loser with nothing better to do I counted how many seconds in and out of hold between the two - 40 seconds in, 50 seconds out for Nigel's Foxtrot, 50 seconds in, 40 seconds out for Layton's Quickstep. But one definitely wasn't really a Quickstep but the other was definitely a Foxtrot that was undermarked

No one on Strictly does a full, pure Ballroom/Latin dance like you'd see in actual competition, there's always some bits of disco/jazz/whatever style of faffing. Gee I wonder what it is that these people don't like about how Layton does it, whatever could it possibly be? 💅 It's such a mystery. :cautious:

and then there's that one poor, broken Nadiya fan who keeps insisting they're not watching this year because they're too distraught but also keeps popping up to insult the other pro girls at every opportunity

and that one weirdo who never misses an opportunity to complain that ringers shouldn't be allowed on the show despite their favourite contestant being Alexandra Burke, who they insist was not a ringer 😂
.
I haven't even dared venture into the Amanda's withdrawal thread yet 😬

My fave comment I read today

I'm curious as to what use the judges would be if they refrained from pointing out any mistakes, or taking marks off for them 😂

I’m pretty sure there’s some contractual limits on what people can say about the show even after they’re out. We never, ever hear a single negative thing. They struggle to cast it as it is, they don’t want any horrible experiences being made public.

I think Amanda is saying what she can without saying it outright. Plus I don’t think she’d intentionally cast a pall over the rest of the show for everyone still there.

Anton survived the racism scandal in 2009. Arguably was lucky to keep the job then. We're now in 2023 and Anton would 100% be sacked for that now, no question. So IF (and a big IF) Giovanni has been using ableist language, then his career on the BBC is finished.

His former partners uniting on Amanda's post is also NOT a good look. At all. Perhaps not a fireable offence but I bet all 4 of them plus Richie will have plenty to share. I somehow doubt Laura Whitmore & Georgia know Amanda very well so them commenting is definitely to do with Gio.

I'm still no fan of Amanda, don't get me wrong but IF this proves to be true then surely Gio should have been asked to leave? Someone like Neil (😬) could have taken over.
Then the producers would have had to come up with a reason why Amanda had to change partners. They couldn't pretend Gio was injured for the rest of the series and admitting the two of them were having issues would damage the "big happy family", family friendly perception of the show.

That's rather damning! With the higher ups and the pros distancing themselves from Gio it suggests they are worried whatever happened might get out.

If even Gilkison is pro Amanda, then that means Gio isn't coming back. He probably has some sway on who gets to stay in the lineup.
Apparently he said at one of his shows this year that this would be his last year on Strictly. But of course he won't want to go out under a cloud and will be desperately hoping nothing else leaks out. His Beryls are loyal.. for now.

No wonder he put out his message yesterday, which now looks like an attempt to get ahead of Amanda. And of course cancelled his launch - GPVita can't compete with the Fail trying desperately to get dirt on you.
