I can't bring myself to care about Adam either way tbh. I had no idea who he was before Strictly and I'll probably forget him promptly after.

He's not the first or the last celebrity to have to learn a routine with very little training but honestly it does surprise me that Waterloo Rd is a BBC show and they're fine with him publicising that he gets no let up from them. Interesting that BBC gave Bobby and Nigel breaks and not him.

Nigel is 'between jobs', he finished his series contract with Casualty in August, he is not due to return.

Doubt he would have agreed to this Strictly stint if he couldn't commit 100% to it. With age comes discipline not to over extend oneself.

On the basis of zero evidence other than my own opinion, when they were competing internationally, being married to a British passport holder may have significantly simplified entry into certain countries for someone with a Russian passport.

I've always had the same opinion. I figured the Seann mess was partly because she was privately single (or at least in an open relationship) but could hardly sit on ITT during the 'make Seann and Katya as shame faced as possible' segment and announce that her marriage was more of a professional arrangement.

Karen is an idiot - while she is correct it’s an entertainment show . The celebs are judged on their dancing technique therefore to not teach your celeb the correct technique is just crappy for the celeb.

After all these years, I think there's a good reason Karen has never got a true ringer. The closest she ever got was Will Young (in a year where I'm convinced they were aiming for all three Cliftons in the final) and we all know how that went. Someone like Nigel would have been wasted on her.

I don't watch Waterloo Road but I kinda had the impression that Adam had a fairly minor role.
I don't know what I am basing that on 🤣 he described himself as starring in it...

James Bye was still working in Eastenders last year during Strictly. I suppose it's easier to write out someone like Bobby who has a much smaller role in it.

EE have long experience of the cross promo though - it nearly killed Scott Maslen and Kellie Bright and Emma Barton did the first 3 or 4 weeks on 10 Christmas dinners a day.

I honestly don’t think the celebs get any say … if a BBC soap has a big upcoming storyline, one of the celebs will be from that. I tend to think the producers work on the basis that there will be enough deadwood at the beginning to hide fewer training hours behind and then give it 4 or 5 weeks and the storyline is shot and they can up the hours.

That makes sense! Thank you.

Scott Maslen becoming an exhausted shell of himself as he crawled to the semi-final will always be one of my biggest Strictly disappointments. His jive is still one of my all-time favourites.

Agree regarding the Karen comments. There's plenty of opportunity to bring Eddie's personality and culture to Strictly, but in an appropriate way that doesn't screw up the dance he's meant to be doing. She just had no reasonable explanation for that.

That being said, though, I'm getting a bit tired of hearing him constantly banging on about Congolese and gyrating his hips at every opportunity. I'm not getting the impression he wants to tackle learning a new dance, only doing what he already knows how to do.

One of my ex partners, who is a very well respected theatre actor, phoned me today and was moaning about Nigel doing Strictly because ‘he’s a triple threat and it’s cheating.’ It’s not just Facebook Brendas!

I for one am incredibly grateful that Nigel finally doing the show this year Im not bothered by him being experienced and if he was a complete pro then he would have nailed the VW last week but didnt.

Eddie has great dance ability but I'm already doubting any of it is going to be channelled into great ballroom or Latin. That quickstep was so crap and they had the longest to learn it. I hope to be proved wrong!

I'm pretty sure EE sent Matt DiAngelo's character Deano to prison for part/most of his run on Strictly Series 5 in 2007. He was in a two-couple final with Alesha Dixon - after they finagled a way to get rid of Gethin in the semifinal. (sorry I'm cynical - and I wanted Matt in the final - but still, t'wasn't fair)

That must be so annoying for the pro. Why sign up if your too busy with work
I can't stand him. He's got such a chip on his shoulder.

I don't think it's fair either tbh. One of the selling points was that this stars had no dancing experience, now it seems they all have.
