I said the same last night: the draped trousers that pool around the feet appear to be Matt’s trademark ‘look’, along with the hat.
 
Do they still do that whole thing where the pros all meet the celebs together and they dance around a bit and then the pairings are made taking chemistry etc in to consideration?
I just think that Richie and Gio were thrown together because they both wanted a male partner if that’s something Gio has openly said.
I think Johannes and John worked really well because John had loads of masculine energy which obviously Gio does too but in a very different way if that makes sense? I think this is the first year since Laura Whitmore where Gio might actually struggle. I’m trying to think who out of the current cast I would have put Gio and Richie with? Maybe Richie with (gulp) Neil or Luba? I don’t think Richie necessarily needs a male partner whereas I think it really worked with John Waite. I think Gio and Jayde would have been fun and then Karen with Will and sorry that leaves Nancy benched.

I have seen that they did the pre sorting hat meet up anywhere …. But that doesn’t mean they didn’t

I think most of the pros have said they would like a same sex pairing … and I just wonder if Gio was given the nod purely because it’s one that is so different to Rose. Any female partner would have had a very glum time of it, I think.

I’m still baffled that Katya drew Tony while Luba is sat on the bench. I know Luba has done more than her share of wafting round the tall, immobile sportsman but even so.

remember her in the great dance off fiasco of whatever year it was? 🤣 claudia came into her own whereas poor tess basically short-circuited.

it is incredible that we haven’t had more issues, i have awful second hand embarrassment though so i’m glad. i had to leave the room on kai and aj’s non lift last year. any time i can see a dance is going wrong, i’m out 🤣

My exact thought!
I thought when Tony started off that he was meant to be doing what he was doing iykwim, kinda like a very stiff puppet or something and then it would all come good. 🤣

Haven't watched all of them yet but saw Fleur. If she takes the feedback on board and reins things in a bit, she will be very good. At times it was like the Fleur show, I thought, rather than a dance with a partner.

Hamza is adorable and I really liked his and Jowita's performance. He is giving it his all.

Didnt see Nikita and Ellie S yet, but he is such a great addition to the Strictly team. I loved him with Tilly last year.
 
Re Ellie and Nikita, I think this is why people were saying it would make more sense to pair her with the shortest pro regardless of gender (though I'm super glad we got Hamza and Jowita 🥰). You have to consider the pro as well and how the dance is going to look, and stooping over like Nikita did looked painful. I'm sure they will figure out a way to get round things and then she'll be great - she's got good musicality and she moves well.

When Richie was announced I thought him and Graziano seemed like the most obvious pairing as they have a similar vibe

I'm sure Richie is a nice bloke but their is something so infantile about him, not helped by the show treating him like an excitable child who's come to the studio for a day out
 
Richie is annoying but he’s already in the thick of the BBC with Radio 2 and his stints on The One Show. Hopefully he will calm it down with the over enthusiasm as things get going and it all gets a bit harder. He’s fun to watch and BBC are desperately trying to mix it up with the celebs. Every year I think it’s a crap line up and I end up enjoying it. Saying that, Matt Goss needs a miracle, he’s wound up rightly like a spring. He needs to be more of a slinky!

I remember when Ramps and Karen got tangled up with the mic wire and they had to completely stop their salsa midway through. Brucie handled it like the professional he was, turning the chaos into a funny moment and giving them time to get themselves sorted. If it had been Tess in charge, she would have frozen and had no clue what to do! I always think there’s a reason we don’t see her presenting anything else from January to August.

This dance was amazing. He was in another league from the very first week #DannyMacWasRobbed
