In the years I’ve watched it the winner has always got a duffer the following year (I do think that on paper, Bill Bailey was a duffer) so this shouldn’t be a shock to anyone.

I had read Gio told the producers he wanted a male partner and when he got one, I did think the folk who believe he gets preferential treatment were on the money. But bloody hell, he’s going to have his work cut out and as much as he’ll try and style it out, I don’t think for a second this is going how he wanted it to!

I don’t think the producers saw Will as a joke older guy contestant (he’s only in his 40s). They would have known he had some kind of musicality and yes he has a cheeky personality but he’s definitely not there as a joke contestant

I think Cameron is the shortest, at a guess about 5"6/7. Gorka is 5"8 and Nikita looks about an inch or so taller

But I do completely get why they didn't pair Ellie with Cameron as she would need someone with a bit more experience, and her and Nikita have a nice chemistry too

At first I was surprised they didn't partner her with Gorka, but I wonder if his back injury might have ruled him out because it would put a lot of pressure on his lower back

Plus he's gorgeous! I know it's hard to separate him from dorky gaz on two pints though so i can see why people would expect him not to take it so seriously

Speaking of which Matt Goss takes himself very seriously, doesn't he? Part of me felt sorry for him because he looks like he just can't enjoy himself. I don't envy his partner. I'd say he'll be a nightmare

Think we all expected Gorka with Ellie, and then watching last night and seeing Nikita having to bend over a lot, I was like oh yeah, that's why Gorka didn't get Ellie, the back injury history.

I think Helen's score was right but it's good she didn't get 8s as people won't be banging the ringer drum and she can have a jourrrrrrney. They've already mentioned "confidence" so I do think she'll be our journey contestant. She did a beautiful job and def has winner potential.

I don't think the problem is necessarily that Richie isn't good, but that their energies do not match. Richie is CAMP all the way through - Gio is.. definitely not. He just gives out strong hetero vibe! Even in their routine last night, you need a male pro who will match that. And it's not just a gay/straight thing: Aljaz definitely had the camp energy to make that routine work by throwing himself into it.
And I can defo do without the producers trying to make Richie's mum a 'character'!

I agree, Tony would work better with someone taller - I'd have liked to see him with Nadiya or Luba, and for Katya to get Will.

My sister and I were saying this from the launch show - he's taking it SO seriously it's ridiculous. He needs to loosen up and just enjoy it a bit more. My sister actually said that she wouldn't be surprised if he got 'an injury' that forced him to pull out if he kept getting put at the bottom of the leaderboard.

You could tell he was FUMING at the judges comments and the low scores this week.

agreed on all counts! gio just can’t match his energy really - and i don’t mean that in a mean way to either of them, they’re just polar opposite ends of the scale. aljaz would have absolutely embraced it and, i hate to summon his name, neil probably could have done too. as it is, richie just goes more ott while gio tries his best to reign him in 🤣

i’m not sure if i can fully take to richie tbh. he has one of those smiles that turns into a grimace and not sure about all his obviously prepared funny one-liners after dances.

i have absolutely no clue how it’s gonna go once they get into a ballroom number.

exactly! a first week is surely just about looking for potential. if you’re giving someone 8s and 9s for their first dance then there’s absolutely nowhere for them to go.
