I'm enjoying Carlos Gu's competition/exhibition dancing on YouTube!

He seems to be a latin specialist, I wonder how well he'll fare at ballroom. He moves gracefully! The show's heavily recruited from the latin dance sphere including shows like Burn the Floor in the last 5 or 10 years, I don't think they're prioritising ballroom anymore 🙁
I miss when all the pros had a good grounding in 10-dance and could choreograph accordingly without so many of them needing outside help in that department.

Nadiya's background is 10-dance for example.

Yes. I miss that also. That's why the launch show dance being a ballroom number was such as nice surprise! And featuring Dianne, who does have a ballroom grounding

More nonsense from digital spy. 😛

Not sure how to feel about Kai with Kaye but I don't think any pairing will have quite the impact that AJ and Kai had on me last year. One of my all time favourite pairings and if/when Kaye goes early he might get the powers that be to get AJ a slot for him and her to do their final dance they would have done had she not been injured.

Ha! Still banging on about that sodding showdance!
Why on earth do they think that the producers would have any interest in giving over part of the tightly scheduled live show to a dance that didn’t happen last year? 🤷‍♀️

I've yet to watch the launch show, I missed it yesterday - thanks for the heads up!

I was looking forward to seeing that new shorthaired (British?) female pro however it looks like she doesn't have a partner.

Some of the latin pros are good at ballroom (including Gorka ♥️ to my untrained eye!) so I'm not complaining (much, lol).
The powers that be seemed to decide that 'sexy' latin, streetdance and musical theatre would appeal to youth viewers they were trying to draw in - over and above 'boring' ballroom. Teens couldn't care less I expect; kids, families and middle aged and older people are the core demographic 😬
Bring back ballroom say I! (There were a few nice numbers tonight from Ellie and Johannes, Helen and Gorka and Jovana and Hamza).

Further thoughts on the show - I thought the scores, while all a bit high, were actually reflective of the quality of the dance and the leader board would have been accurate regardless of where a dance featured in the schedule of the show.

Wasn't expecting anything from Ellie T and Johannes so they were a nice surprise. Hopefully this will shut up the people who say he outdances his partner as he showcased her really nicely here with a lovely routine.

I never understand Motsi's feedback, it's always just nonsensical cliches. You go, girl kinda thing.
She reminds me of this scene in Friends.

'There's no urgency. The scene is a struggle, it's a race. Also, what you did was horizontal. Don't be afraid to explore the vertical. And don't learn the words. Let the words learn you.'

What was Shirley saying to Fleur - something like stand on your legs? 😄
I meant to. Ask in the previous thread if anybody could speak motsi? I don’t. Understand most of what she says

The countdown to Christmas is on. Poor Tony, will have to hope my fellow Gooners will ring in to dig him out. Richie seems to have massive hands. After someone put pretzels in her hair 'last night,' to tie Motsi in a curtain tonight was just cruel. No wonder she makes no sense albeit with energy and a multi decibel output. Hopefully the satellite dishes in her ears kept her entertained.

Singers were as shite as normal although there were some songs which were utter bobbins. No vocalist could make them sound good. But you know what? It's Strictly, Autumn is here, my mum has her Saturday nights sorted for the next however many weeks and I wouldn't change a thing xx

I love him.

Fair play to Johannes - I'm not usually a fan of his choreography, but that was a really well-judged wk 1 routine and showed Ellie off well. Was it worth an 8? Absolutely not

Couldn't keep up with the thread last night as well as 2 WhatsApp chats going on all about SCD!! 😂 I bloody loved Will, that was a sexy dance!! Also liked Helen, Hamza and Fleur. I think Fleur may win/be in the final. I also agree with someone above, as much as I liked Ellie S I think it was awkward between her and Nikita. Hopefully as time goes on they'll get better. I think (and hope) Tony will go first 👌
