Not keen on American Smooth in the first week either - it's not one of the 10 dances so I'm not sure if it's really giving the celebs enough grounding in pure ballroom. It feels like we're almost a series or two away from Charlestons in Week 1 or *shudders* Couples' Choice in Week 1. If they did have to do a non 10 dance for Week 1, I'd say Salsa which can be a crowd pleaser, which AS rarely is.

Why no Waltzes? They're not my cup of tea but classic Week 1 material especially for someone like Kaye. I'd usually say Waltz for weaker celebs and Tango for stronger celebs then Cha-cha-cha for the latin side, maybe the odd Jive for someone who wants a challenge off the bat.

I only switch on for Ken Bruce. It always feels like he tolerates rather than likes Richie but that might be me projecting my own feelings 🤣

I bloody love Ken Bruce, a friend when was on Popmaster last year. He gave me a shout out, best day of my life! I always laugh when Ken does the link with Jeremy Vine, you can tell he can't stand him!

I agree, I think it should be a Waltz or Cha Cha Cha in week 1. If nobody goes out the first week, then it means some are getting tougher or less popular dances out of the way while others aren’t.

I have to be honest, Karen has never been my fave pro but I’m really looking forward to seeing her and Jayde!
 
Is Foxtrot necessarily bad for Week 1? DWTS often did it in Week 1 & 2 and that didn't cause problems plus prior to Susannah Constantine's walking Foxtrot in 2018, it had never scored below 16 on SCD.

I just want her to have a really likeable ringer just once! I'd love to see what she's really capable of with a partner who can match her talent
 
Oh god, Tony. Katya is going to have to bring the theming. Several CCC there! Kaye will struggle with the tango, I fear. James and Will both with jives?
