Hadn't considered Nikita/Ellie S, thought her and Gorka were practically a done deal, but I suppose maybe it came down to him not wanting to go too far from Manchester (I'm assuming Helen must live around there?) but I could definitely see Nikita doing a great job with her.
Bit surprised about Jowita and Hamza, from a height/size basis. She's gonna look so tiny next to him she'll practically disappear.
Did not see Vito/Fleur or Carlos/Molly coming. Intruiged.
Feel bad for Luba. I think I'd prefer her with Will over Nancy. Think I'd prefer nearly anyone with Will over Nancy, but we'll see.
Not bothered about Gio/Ritchie, it's not like he's been given a ringer after winning. If he can work miracles on an ex-football player, I'll bow down in awe of him.
Interested to see how Karen/Jayde goes. Hope Karen gets a decent run if this is her last year.
Guessed right that Ellie Taylor would get Johannes, I hope they'll be a fun pairing, and that she'll have a journey. Bit worried he might not be patient enough with her, she seems very nervous. Kinda lean towards wishing she had Graziano instead. She's the only celeb I've really heard of, so I hope she's not an early boot.
Wish Katya had someone better, or at least more likely to go further. She seems a very good teacher though, so he might do better than expected.
I'm not the biggest fan of Dianne, but I do hope she gets further than week 4 this year.

No, you calling Camilla Old Horseface isn't going to stop her from being Queen Consort, sorry.

I saw the spoilers last night but didn’t really take it in and kept going back for another look. A couple of things I didn’t expect but a couple I could have guessed. Looking forward to getting started!
I’m not surprised to hear the launch show may be postponed though, I thought they might have her funeral on Saturday 17th but that’s too soon I think. The official 10 days of mourning for The Queen began at midnight. The funeral could be any day between Sat 17th, Sun 18th maybe even Mon 19th.
The launch show was pre-recorded so they can slot it in any day before the live show starts on 24th Sept. It shouldn’t affect the scheduled dates they had planned for the rest of the live shows (World Cup matches permitting)
They had already said a couple of months ago that they weren’t going to do the Buckingham Palace show this year

I imagine the AJ/Kai lot are delighted that not only will there be no chance of competing with last year, but the cad will get an early exit. I thought Fleur was single and they were prepping her for a showmance but I see she's married so Vito will have to be careful following his Italian exploits..

It's ridiculous. They can mourn their close family member - we, as a nation, should be getting on with living. Life in the UK has been utterly tit lately and it's about to get worse. We don't need faux sombreness and bloody Imagine on the radio every five minutes, we need escapism and joy. Why can't they celebrate the 70 year reign and 96 year old life of Liz instead of bringing everything down?

I hope this means the public won’t have to follow it, and that the BBC won’t feel obliged to, but I can see the BBC still pulling shows during this 7 day period if i’m honest (hope i’m wrong).

That’s what I took it to mean (or at least that’s what I hoped it meant). Presumably it just means that the Royal family won’t be conducting any official duties for up to 7 days after the funeral

Yeah I hope that’s the case, it wouldn’t make any sense for the public to continue mourning into this period. Like I said though part of me wouldn’t be surprised if the BBC is still unsure about airing shows like strictly.
I can’t stand Charles but I do think he will make a decent king based on his work over the years and the things he feels passionate about. Anyway, back to the pairings.
I'm delighted that Nikita has a really high profile partnership and think he'll be wonderful at accommodating Ellie.
Glad Graz has a chance of going far, even if Kym is a bit annoying. I'd like to see him do really well as he's such a big puppy.
Gorka has a good chance with Helen. Honestly bit meh though, no strong thoughts about these guys.
Karen loves a bit of disco so with Jayde's background, I can see them doing some fun numbers.
Tyler and Dianne *yaaaaawn* both annoying so that'll my teabreak. Hoping for the schadenfreude of her being out again for week four, but at least if she wins she might leave. Suspect he'll be better at Latin and that's not her choreo strong point.
James and Amy *snoooooooore*
Will and Nancy I can see being quite fun.
Not really interested in Giovanni being in the spotlight again this series, but very glad there's another same/sex pairing to steal his thunder. Not sure Richie is a very good dancer either.
Thinking about it, Katya starts panto quite early in December (maybe even late November) so she probably needed an early exit. Who knows, maybe Tony will be better than we expect?

gorka & helen - really happy about this one, a different type of partner for gorka. he’s always had either a ringer the public hates, someone who can’t give enough hours to training or people who just aren’t that great. helen seems likeable and will likely be popular with that public so if she has even slight ability they should getpretty far.
graziano & kym - not surprised about this one as kym had been very open about wanting graziano. will be nice to see him have someone with some talent, based on what i’ve seen the last few years he seems to have stepped up his choreo so i’m hoping he continues to do so.
vito & fleur - HERE FOR IT. shame she’s married as otherwise there would 100% have been a showmance which is always funny to see. haven’t seen too much of vito’s choreo but i think they will give us some fire latin numbers. very lucky to get someone as good as fleur on his first series.
carlos & molly - really looking forward to this one!! i was convinced carlos would be benched so i’m happy he has been given a chance to show what he can do, think him and molly look sweet together and i think she’s had some previous training so should give us some good numbers.
gio & ritchie - this one confuses me. not that happy about gio not getting the typical duffer (kaye) after winning last year as that’s usually the pattern. he’s never really had a bad partner on paper so if he’s still around this year surely he will be on duffer duty. don’t think their personalities will click but i think gio should get some good dances out of him.
kai & kaye - would much rather kai have ritchie and gio have kaye, but i do think he will be able to get some good ballroom out of her. she posted a video on instagram of her swivels and they looked decent so with some proper teaching they could also do a decent charleston. looking forward to seeing what kai can do.
karen & jayde - this is what i wanted!! karen has been vocal about wanting a same sex pairing since it was introduced in 2020 so i’m glad she finally got it. jayde is the perfect partner for her too, i think they will get on really well and should give us some brilliant dances. think this will be karen’s last series so i’m glad she got the pairing she wanted.
nikita & ellie s - over the moon for nikita!! was not expecting this pairing based on height but i think they will be front runners. ellie is already loved by so many, combine that with having a likeable sweet partner like nikita and i think we have a winning combination. if she has even a slight bit of dancing ability they will do great.
katya & tony - i really like tony and think he could go on a similar journey to dan from last year. i saw someone elsewhere say “tony will be around for a while” … not sure if that’s implying he dances well or maybe the fact that he has katya who is well known for getting the best from her partners. think they will be really good fun to watch.
nadiya & matt - happy that nadiya has someone who seems to have potential. they both seem quiet but i doubt they will fade into the background, once he starts to relax into the experience he might come across more confident. can’t wait to see their ballroom.
nancy & will - i really like will and think he will be a contender but not sure nancy is the right partner for him? he’s very different to rhys though so might be a chance for her to show a more calm side, i ended up really liking nancy last year after not seeing much from her the previous 2 series. if she can tone it down a bit and come up with some good choreo i think they will do great.
dianne & tyler - rolling my eyes already. i was looking forward to seeing him when he was announced but not so much now. it will either be dev 2.0 or they will get all the way to the final. hoping dianne’s awful choreo doesn’t let him down.
amy & james - boring and predictable, would much rather james with nadiya. i like him though so will be routing for him, would much rather amy had tony as she’s had partners like james in the past. think he’s one too watch especially in ballroom.
