Wow! A lot of surprises there. I got a few last minute predictions right, but really surprised they've benched Neil and Cameron - I wonder why they went with Carlos over either of them? Really looking forward to Jayde and Karen dancing together. Would not have predicted Nikita and Ellie S because he's a bit taller - maybe a better age match? A bit disappointed Ellie S isn't with Gorka but him and Helen will be great together I reckon

what does G have on the producers that mean he can’t have some old duffer like Kaye ? I mean him and Ritchie probably will have a short run but urgh…

Is Helen Manchester/Lancs/Yorkshire based ? Wonder if that’s why she’s got gorks so they can both stay with their familys. Looking forward to jayde and Karen should be good.

Yeah, I think Helen lives near Leeds. I think on paper they'll have quite a bit in common - both parents and quite outdoorsy. And lucky Vito getting a mega ringer in his first series :LOL:
 
Some surprises there, Neil benched and Carlos getting a partner I wasn't expecting. I never thought of Nikita with Ellie, but I'm here for it. Will and Nancy I'm not sure about. Yay for Karen getting her same sex pairing. Hamza and Jowita could be adorable together. This could be Gorka's year. Another little known radio DJ for Dianne 😬 let's hope he is a ringer.
 
Poor Katya, when we she get a contender??

Not that I think Tony is outright awful but we've been round this track before, 1 good partner in 7 seasons is tit treatment for a pro like her.
 
Gorka and Helen - On paper this seems a very happy match, if she has a scrap of natural aptitide I'm sure they'll do very well!

Graziano and Kym - Fingers crossed he's learned a great deal by now and can choreograph well for her, she could be really good, I think

Vito and Fleur - I am hoping for 100% pure filth in a Latin, pls

Carlos and Molly - A very promising young partner for Carlos in his first year! I am sure they will be charming together.

Giovanni and Richie - I cannot see their personalites meshing well, but I do hope Ritchie enjoys himself whatever happens, he was so excited to participate

Kai and Kaye - Kai will give her a LOVELY waltz and an American Smooth, god bless her, but unless he's a miracle worker I can't see him getting her through any sort of Latin

Nikita and Ellie S - I am here for this, Nikita is a darling, so is Ellie, bring it on!

Karen and Jayde - An excellent challenge for Karen, I think they could produce some really interesting dances together!

Katya and Tony - not a pairing I expected, but Tony seems well up for anything, and Katya can take a person expected to be a duffer a great deal further than anyone dreamed of.

Nadiya and Matt- I am not sure this is going to work well, but at least they'll look impeccable on stage together. Best Cheekbones Winner 2022.

Nancy and Will - again, an odd pairing, I will need to see them dance before forming an opinion. Will is a guaranteed vote-winner amongst a certain section of the public though, so well done Nancy!

Dianne and Tyler - oh look Dianne has another decent-on-paper obscure DJ again how interesting

Amy and James - oh look Amy has another decent-on-paper pleasant celeb again how interesting

Johannes and Ellie T - I am not sure he will be the best teacher for her, she was all angles and knees and nerves, but I am sure they will have fun together!

Jowita and Hamza - How cuuuuuuute they'll be, glad she's off the bench.

I feel bad for the pros left on the bench though, that's got to sting for a couple of them at least.

so who is benched other than Luba and Neil? Are the rest jus newbies?
 
Gorka and Helen - Nice pairing, even if not a natural straight off, I like that Gorka has more of an improver, and more importantly, someone who the public will definitely like. No early exit this year 🤞

Graziano and Kym - A bit of a better dancer for Graziano but I only see them going about midway, he's not the best pro out there and I'm not convinced on her popularity.

Vito and Fleur - Chance for us to get to know Vito straight away I guess. Good for him, hope he brings the choreo because the standards at Ballando con le Stelle are nowhere near that of Strictly!

Carlos and Molly - Unexpected but I like the look of Carlos so hope this partnership is successful. I think Molly has some dance skill so again, he'll have a good run to make an impact.

Giovanni and Richie - LOL, I like this because the personalities are just so obviously mismatched. Do they really think that a straight Italian stallion dancer is going to get on with a camp gay travel reporter?

Kai and Kaye - Lovely ballroom. Awkward Latin. Early departure. Better luck next year Kai.

Nikita and Ellie S - Whilst I want him with an actual ringer one day (is he AJ's successor in getting all of the young middlers?), he did a great job with Tilly so Ellie S is in great hands and I'm glad we'll see him for a long run again since Ellie is popular.

Johannes and Ellie T - First boot methinks. Seems nice but I know she has Johannes, I think that there is no chance she will look good, her dancing is already very very awkward and adding Johannes' overdancing into it makes me think this won't go well.

Karen and Jayde - Yay for Karen! Glad that she has the opportunity to do a same-sex pairing and hopefully Jayde has a good experience as well. Expect the fun routines here for sure!

Katya and Tony - Tony seems nice enough but this sort of partnership has happened before. #MegaRingerforKatya2023Please

Nadiya and Matt - Glad that Nadiya has a good partner after Dan, I hope she makes the most of Matt's potential and that he comes across well.

Nancy and Will - Nancy is kinda favoured getting two good ones off the bat IMO when she didn't really make the most out of Rhys last year. I hope that she makes the most out of Will and they don't go the frantic route because he could be good.

Dianne and Tyler - Has potential, maybe I'll be surprised and this is Dianne's year to really go all out or it'll be the usual boring choreo, naff themes and a repeat of Spoony or Dev.

Amy and James - Yet another "nice young man" for Amy. Yeah, it's obvious they want her to win. #RichardMadeley&Amy2023 please.

Jowita and Hamza - Yay for Jowita! So glad she gets a partner. Don't know much about Hamza but you all seem to like him so hopefully they stay a couple of weeks. Probably the "nice couple"?

You have pretty much summed up my thoughts there!

Dianne and Amy's pairs do look a bit snoozeville, and I can imagine a lot of blank expressions in Nadiya and Matt's VTs - not sure they'll be quite on the same wavelength
 
I agree re Katya - I'd have liked her to get a contender but are there are real male contenders? also after the Adam business maybe a nice family-friendly Mike Bushell type will rehab her with the pearl-clutchers. Vito has struck the jackpot. I knew Gio would get a male partner

So is Strictly going to be postponed due to the queen's death? Apparently there will be 12 days of national mourning. (I am not a royalist so this seems like overkill, and also, are people just supposed to watch endless news coverage for 12 days??)

I can see the Launch Show being postponed … it will be Funeral Weekend after all … but it could be slotted in on a weekday after that.

presumably they're more confident about Carlo's teaching/choreography, so I'm starting to wonder why they hired Cameron in the first place if they're not sure he's good enough for a partner. Just feels a bit like the Chloe situation all over again. I guess they will try him out with a partner on the Christmas special first maybe
