I’m sorry but I thought these people were kidding 😂 Surely they don’t actually think AJ & Kai are comparable to Georgia & Gio?? They actually dated for 6 months and were a genuine couple, AJ & Kai tricked the British public into a showmance and almost a year down the line some people still can’t let go, despite the fact he’s been dating someone else for over half the year 😭

There seems to be a lot more females than male contestants this year. I was hoping for the last two reveals to be men so fingers crossed it’s not Helen Skelton. I just think it will be all about her marriage breakup if she is on.

The pic of Helen is just a normal photo rather than a ‘Strictlified’ one. I wonder if other media outlets get a copy of the ‘official’ photo ahead of the reveal, or if they have to wait until after the announcement? It just doesn’t look like that was a ‘here’s the full line up’ image that was ready to go & got leaked by accident.

I think they just can’t admit/accept how gullible & dim they were, or that their ‘precious couple’ took advantage of such gullibility as an exercise in career progression.

There was literally zero evidence of an actual relationship, and whilst I have no particular opinion on AJ one way or the other, she’s clearly very ambitious and profression focussed. Which is great, fair play to her, I hope she enjoys a tonne of success as a reward for her hard work.

But the shippers were played, and that’s what they really can’t come to terms with.

Yes, if she is in and the quote is true about “looking for love” I feel really sorry for her partner. The paps will be all over it and Tessbot will be unbearable about chemistry ( even more unbearable)
 
I think it’s getting harder for Strictly to get a “wow” lineup because there’s just so many different platforms and shows for people to watch and be interested in now. 10 years ago we were all watching the same stuff so it was easy to cast stars from stuff we all watched/listened to/read etc. Nowadays that’s almost impossible unless they spend all their budget on signing cast members from Stranger Things or Bridgerton.

I have to admit I’m a little disappointed in this years line up but in previous years I’m sure there’s been lineups I’ve loved that others haven’t (eg my favourite was 2018 with Stacey Dooley and Joe Sugg yet tonnes of people had never heard of either of them)

And just to follow on, we’ll all be obsessed with them by November. As many have said, I’d never heard of Rose, John or AJ last year and my god did I love them! It was one of my favourite top threes ever.
 
I’m not sure I’d write off an entire series based on bios and headshots but fair enough.

The AJ and Kai thing always mildly baffled me as I never saw anything beyond working together despite their best attempts. They actually seemed to me to have the least chemistry out of the 3 final couples (friendship/dancing chemistry). I saw Kai and Maisie dance on the tour and thought they were cracking together.

Absolutely- they were clearly playing up to the showmance angle. Much much more genuine affection between Rose/Gio and John/Johannes. Might be unfair to make comparisons but I felt with the other two couples it was so natural and they didn't need to pretend.

I think getting 16 celebs a year, without dipping into who? territory would be well nigh impossible … especially with the age/demographic range range it’s shooting for.

I think as well, people putting together wish lists and then being grumpy because Judi Dench isn’t on are just setting themselves up for a fall. Chances are, if they are on a random person’s wishlist, they will be on Strictly’s and have been approached (possibly more than once) and turned it down. Strange but true - not everyone has a burning desire to be on Strictly.

You seem very sure about that when you don't actually know. I'm not going to get involved in a to and forth here but the scenario you describe between AJ and Kai is not how it played out. I'm not on DS and don't care if you believe me or not.

But budget blowing wouldn’t come into to it when everyone is on the same base fee and increasing amounts the longer they’re on the show. That’s why Mel C wouldn’t do the UK version as she said the fees were tit compared to the amount of work and potential opportunities post show (I lost a lot of respect for her after that).

There’s more celebs now compared to when they started and some of them are too lazy to be bothered to put the work in.

Yeah lots of people - Dawn French, Gok Wan - say they've been approached but couldn't face it. Others might be waiting till a convenient break in their schedule (eg Adam doing it last year was a surprise but he had decided he wanted a break from swimming).

According to Gio's PA Lady Lavender Gio and Anton are in Sicily to film a travelogue (WHO is going to watch that??) and pro filming resumes on 24th August?
