Have fewer in the audience, don’t have 30 odd people crushed in the Clauditorium, keep the judges sat further apart, have masks … but they won’t because it’s over … until about week 3 when a couple or more have to take a bye.
Exactly. Some of the new bits they introduced improved the show IMO - the recorded intros of celeb and partner, no cringey judges' "dance", no opportunity for attention seeking pro dancers in the claudeatorium - all of that worked for me.

Love Katya too, really hoping for a decent partner this year but don’t see it.

If she doesn't get a contender this year, I'll be a bit annoyed. She won once with a journey contestant in his 40s five years ago and has otherwise had five other celebs ranging from mediocre to average. Given that she can partner almost anyone at 5'5 and has shown lots of good choreo, I have no idea why she's continually passed over for the contenders.

I really felt I was in the minority with my dislike of the Claudiatorium and ridiculous antics. I do feel like a small audience is better I doubt half the folk they were cramming in could see anyway. So a larger audience than last year but smaller than pre covid would work for me (plus less people who can’t even clap in time/random whooping half way through a dance).

I also quite like the VT meeting the partners but if it went back to pre covid I wouldn’t mind.

I liked the VT meet up … much better than standing in a line and having to pretend you were thrilled to have got the Susannah Constantine when the Ashley Roberts is stood right there.

I also like the empty Clauditorium and the fact the couple could have their post dance interview be all about them, not Janette bouncing about waving an inflatable palm tree.

I also like the fact you could watch a dance without knicker wetting screaming every time a toe was lifted off the floor 😎

I really like the meet up VTs and hope they keep them, but they must cost quite a bit extra to shoot so I suspect it might go back to just filming it all in the studio

Honestly don't mind the clauditorium either way, although if they bring it back hopefully that will mean fewer awkward zoom chats with relatives. But thank god Janette's clauditorium gurning and leaping will be a thing of the past. Unless one of the new pros will be even worse for it

Maybe I'm subconsciously influenced by her height, but I predict Jowita will be a gurner. Probably not up to the Olympic levels of Janette but who could be?

I wonder if anyone from Neighbours will pop up? They are all out of work now! Get Harold!

Ooooh, good call on the Neighbours alumni! I’m not up to date with the recent cast, but there’s got to be a few likely candidates between the newbies and the old-timers.

(And hopefully with a bit more energy about them than Holly Valance had!)

[Insert obligatory Holly Valance ‘I crack myself up, I really do’ photo-steal, with apologies to Monkseal for the pilfering]

To be fair, I haven’t watched in 20 odd years, but I assume one of the longer serving cast members would get some support.

Now that I think about, it’s odd that there’s only ever been Holly Valance and Jason Donovan on SCD, as ex cast members often relocate to the UK for panto, etc. I’d have thought Mark Little would have been a likely call before now.

There’s a farewell tour coming to the UK, so that might suggest some likely contenders.

So far there’s Toadfish, Karl & Susan Kennedy, & someone fairly new that I’ve never heard of. The Neighbours tour is in March, so I’d guess someone could do SCD, the neighbours tour & maybe even the SCD tour if the dates fit. Alan Fletcher has an auto-immune condition so might not be up to it, but Susan or Toadfish would have been my first guesses even before I knew they were doing the Neighbours tour.

In terms of Neighbours people I initially thought Alan Fletcher (Dr Karl) but his tour clashes with some of the opening shows (possibly one for next year ?).

Rebekah Elmaloglou (Terese Willis/Robinson also known for H&A in the 90’s) is a thought. She has mentioned how she’d maybe like to do some work in the UK. She’s also related to Judi Dench (cousin)

Jackie Woodburne (Susan K) is northern Irish by birth and one of the most recognisable characters alongside Karl.

Stefan Dennis (Paul Robinson) a neighbours OG and I’m sure has done panto here a while ago.

The young lad who played Hendrix (Ben Turland) is a reasonable shout. He was due to leave regardless of the show ending so maybe has new work lined up anyway but he’s a talented lad with potential so may be looking at spreading his horizons further than Australia. He also has dance experience which would probably go against him.

The trouble is a lot of the current cast aren’t well known enough here but if the younger ones want to keep working then a move overseas might be wise as Australia does lack options.

This is why when I mentioned Neighbours, I suggested Harold. He would likely be the comedy act but I’d vote for him on a heartbeat!

Whoever it is, there is a 95% likelihood of them being made to do a waltz to ‘Waltzing Matilda’. Or a couples choice to ‘Down Under’ by Men at Work.

I was thinking that a young eye-candy type (make or female) might want to do it as a stepping-stone to the USA and becoming the next Margot Robbie or Guy Pearce. I’d personally rather see an oldie do it as, like the rest of the UK, I stopped watching it 15-20 years ago so nostalgia wins for me.

I’d happily bankrupt myself voting for Harold! 🤩🤩🤩

Sadly at 84 I think Ian smith is probably too old to be considered for strictly. I do think if they were going for a ex neighbour it would likely be one of most recognisable actors. I wouldn’t object to seeing Toadie do the show with throwbacks to the bad shirt days or house of trouser/law man references.

I think for younger ones I do think it would be Ben or April Rose (Chloe Brennan) they seem to be fan favourites so they might aim for a uk career.

April Rose already did DWTS in Australia. Ben could be a good shout and I reckon it would be a good career move for him - he can dance and would get exposure in a new country.

Ah I didn’t realise but I checked it was in 2014 which is before she started in neighbours which Is probably why I never knew. The fan groups where quite good at backing Olympia (and Courtney/Rob mills) when she did it a few years ago.
