Ah, I really liked John :D

Kidding lol. I didn’t really like anyone from last year tbh!

I think because these days any hint of an argument can result in allegations of bullying from the public and it’s just not worth the headache.

Yeah, I agree that it’s probably this: if someone slams a door or raises their voice someone somewhere will complain that it’s ‘triggering’.

I also think they’ve painted themselves into a corner with their insistence that each year’s cast is the sparkliest, happiest family in the world. I think you’re now contractually obliged to deem SCD the greatest experience of your entire life, and any and all future lives you may live, and that your whole existence was geared purely towards the point where you got to dress up in a cheap shiny version of something you might wear in your normal profession, and dance ‘street’ to The Birdie Song with a ricter-grinning foreign dancer who is wondering how they ended up in an industrial estate in Borehamwood of a Saturday night.

In the name of God! I participated in a harmless thread on Twitter about the professional dancers that got randomly hijacked by Kai and AJ shippers. And a week later I'm still getting notifications on twitter from these obsessive stans who are convinced that Kai and AJ are going to perform their showdance and retroactively win Strictly 2021 on the launch show. Get over it! In the name of God, get over it!

Ooh, I like Ellie Taylor, I hope she does well (or at least is entertaining.) First celeb I've heard of so far.

I mean, aside from vaguely thinking I've probably seen Will Mellor play a cop or a gangster in something, but wouldn't have known his name.

Adam Peaty having to convincingly say that the training for Strictly was the hardest thing he’d ever done, when he’d just spent 6 months’ plus training for the Olympics lashed by his ankles to the taps of a jacuzzi in his back garden with a big elastic band.

I think the good thing about having the ground-breaking male-male partnership last year is that there willbe less pressure this year on whoever does it (especially if it is, as is possible, a non-gay male pro). I was just thinking about John and Johannes' showdance and how it was actually quite tit - technically a bit of a mess, just a melange of different styles executed tiredly - but I like it because they seemed to be really having a laugh and just having a boogie with some confetti. Meanwhile Gio was getting the world's biggest Juliet balcony built..

I don't know, he gave off the impression of being genuinely terrified of Katya to me, for the first few weeks anyway. 😂

I thought both showdances were pretty lacklustre. I mean really, did Rose even dance at all, I seem to remember Gio carrying her about 90% of the time. AJ and Kai got off quite lucky, at least theirs only might have been tit 😂

I'm hoping Johannes will get either Jayde or Ellie this year and just have a bit of a laugh. I'm all for highlighting how groundbreaking John and Johannes were, but it was all so serious and earnest last year

Would probably pair Johannes with that type of partner going forward, not quite the new Anton but definitely more the contestants who are there to have fun. The audience enjoy it when he does routines where he camps it up but I think he has a tendency to make it all about him otherwise so I don't think he's the best fit for anyone likely to win.

If I remember rightly, AJ was going to do her showdance to a song that had only recently been used and it was going to be snapshots of all the dances they'd done already.

I think most showdances are pretty bollocks really. Don't remember John's one at all and Rose just did Couples Choice 2 with extended lifts.

They danced to you've got the love and were both dressed in white if I remember correctly 🎶 ✨

I looked at Rose and Gio's there. Apart from the humungous balcony it is mostly him lifting her around with a super-romantic grin on his face and then a repeat of the Sacred Debbie McGee No-Hands Lift from her showdance.

But yeah, they are generally a bit tit. They have like two days to learn something totally new plus rehearse two other dances while shattered.
