I now feel bad for her - she was basically evicted from the AT she was the main poster on for months for the 'crime' of saying she saw Rose with her boyfriend Sam at Gio's show. She was then viciously attacked by crazies for spoiling their ship, as she couldn't provide 'proof' it was Sam and not some random, so she graciously retired to the Gio AT where she continues to act like his PA.
This was hilarious. Other posters were grilling her like she was on trial for war crimes, it was so bizarre.

I do wonder what kid of life lady lav leads to know Giovanni’s whereabouts at all times.

I agree. I know she can be a self appointed thread monitor but I genuinely think she means well (if LL reads this then that is not meant to sound patronising). She really didn't deserve all the grief she had on that thread.

There is a poster on the Aj and Mollie one who posted quite recently that she had ‘made peace’ with them not being together and the proceeded to lay into Mollie’s fiancée (and her tbh) like she knew them. Honey, it’s time to move on 😆

Out of all the crazy Strictly ships, I think I found this one the most baffling of all. Nice to hear they've finally let go after several years of zero chemistry or interaction between them 😆

There was one who used transport down to the main part to say how Strictly had done AJ wrong by making sure he was put out at the semi finals and didn’t want him to win and that he should leave and go on I’m a Celebrity and show Strictly what they are missing.
so all going well, then.

I’m looking forward to being part of the thread this series, much more so than the actual show.

I haven’t properly enjoyed it for a couple of years now. It’s gone very X factor with all the crying and feelings and wheeling grannies out for sympathy votes.

The standard of the pro dances are also absolute shite imo. Jason Gilkinson is a terrorist.

Also maybe an unpopular opinion but I don’t think Gio is THAT amazing as a dancer or choreographer. He’s able to play to his partners strengths (and I did think he and Rose did genuinely get on well!) but I find most of his routines boring. He really relies on the whole chemistry and connection thing. Boak.

I think you will like it a lot here 😜

Yep, way too much x factor bs - I don't mind the odd moving VT (especially when it is genuinely heartfelt, not them trying to desperately make someone cry because they simply have a grandparent) but every single week is ridiculous. I just want Strictly to be fun again 😩

And Gio just needs a proper bonafide duffer for a change (but I wouldn't be surprised if he gets another Debbie McGee type this year 😒)

Have to disagree with you. I love how Gio tells stories in his choreography and think he is a very good dancer. I saw his show and it was amazing, he is actually quite funny and takes the mickey out himself.

It's on this page of the thread: the tone of those women scolding LadyLav! and I see that Gio apparently posted a message on insta at the time saying 'Don't get bitter, get better' which they then decided was him having a dig at LadyLav!

Thanks for doing that for me SG. That was pretty mental - especially the idea that Gio was actually reading the AT and responding to LL's post. The levels of delusion are unfathomable. Also, have we ever actually been told Rose broke up with her partner - I thought it was quite serious and they lived together - or are their confident assertions he is an ex more of the voices in their heads?

I think all of the pros styles become a bit stale over time as they use the same tricks each year unless they are really good. Remember Kevin From Grimsby and his amazing spin with Susannah Reid hanging onto his neck - which we then saw repeated with practically every celeb after?! My favourite choreographers so far as Strictly pros go are Trent Whiddon and Anya Garnis - but they only lasted a season each, so it was probably the novelty factor as much as anything.

He does have a knack for telling a story, eg I loved the Alicia Keys dance he and Rose did, but not every dance needs that. I find myself getting bored at times with his routines.

I don’t actually dislike him though. I watched Jamie Lang’s podcast with him as the guest and he came across really well and was genuinely funny. But I think it’s because he was natural and not all jazz hands and cringe.

Totally agree - it is so X-Factor now. The current producer has really put a dampener on it. Coming here for the threads the last two seasons has kept me watching it though.

Just thinking about the possibility of duffers this year and whether we'll see any proper ones - last year, the only celeb who really couldn't dance was Greg and even he managed a passable ballroom. I thought Dan and Sara would be crap, but they were actually ok. The year before, Jacqui Smith was the only one who was completely terrible

Do you think they're trying to phase them out a bit? Because maybe duffers don't really fit in with in this new era of shiny happy Strictly where nearly everyone gets showered with 8s and 9s from week 2 onwards

Also, maybe audiences respond differently now - they aren't into laughing at people doing badly or looking uncomfortable so much these days (which is a good thing I think). But it is nice to see someone who isn't a natural dancer have a go and get something out of it

I think you'll fit in just fine here 😜 Agree with you on all points. I think Gio is a good pro, but he knows what works and he keeps doing it. I am also unmoved by any of his shirtless distraction techniques

Also, I know we don't really do thread titles, but can we make an exception for 'Jason Gilkinson is a terrorist'? :ROFLMAO:

I kinda miss the days of the Sergeants and Widdecombes who keep getting voted through despite being incomprehensibly crap. But I do think that style of contestant is behind us.

Still think we might get a duffer or two in this cast though. 2019 was the first one under this producer and it had James, Anneka & David - all of whom were dreadful. Mike Bushell had his moments as well. I think COVID has limited them getting older celebrities and last year wasn't the first to not really have a full out duffer, 2016 was the same really, even Ed Balls had a few competent routines.

I’ve never understood the need to tell a story … look, luv your doing a 90 second Charleston to Green Grow the Rusheso (it is Strictly remember). Just stick in some flappy arms, a couple of swivels and gurn enough that they can see you in Berkshire to keep Craig happy … sorted.

Who turns every dance into an homage to West Side Story.

I will never miss anything about The Widdecombe. Ever.

I wonder if they’re being a bit more careful with the “duffers” after James cracknell. His time on the show made quite uncomfortable viewing and he spoke about the trolling he got. I know realistically he should’ve had more sense than to sign up for strictly but strictly should possibly have had more sense than too approach him/his people. Unlike Rose I didn’t think his time was particularly inspiring.
