Good point - hopefully both he and Karen get ringers this year!

Yeah that was my thinking as well, Gorka and Karen are the only pros who have been in two finals and haven't won yet. Karen must be nearing the end of her time on Strictly, and what better way for the longest serving pro to go out than by winning Strictly's 20th series in the BBC's centenary year etc, etc, the storyline writes itself 😁

Agree, she deserves a win for sure! Always been very gracious in defeat too. I do think this season is likely her last regardless, but would like to see her get a real ringer. I think Gio will be doing his best to pull strings to try and rival Oti on her win streak though, so it wouldn’t overly surprise me if we have him in the runnings

It would be nice to see Karen with a finalist who actually has a chance of winning (Mark Wright and Jamie were both very much finalists by default)

Actually, would be nice to have a final where the winner wasn't obvious from week 3 onwards 😂

Gorka reminds me a tad of (my)Tristan in that he gives off an air of not really taking the whole circus seriously.

Amy, however, gives off an increasing air of desperation and Diane seems to be the one given a potentially good on paper Celeb, who leaves early in a range of unflattering costumes.

Mark Wright and Jamie were never going to win by benefit of being Mark Wright and Jamie (see also Lee Ryan).

They’ll need to find someone slightly more ringerish for her than when they tried to pull that stunt with Anton and Emma Barton (and not replace any injured midtablers with a week one winner :cool:)

I think Kai will take over that role, always getting decent partners & getting to the final and just missing out every time.
 
There’s quite a lot of R&G activity at the moment as they’ve been filming and doing podcasts etc so they are probably busy with that. Calm before the storm 😅
 
Random comment but I didn't realise how many of the pros have birthdays close together.
Karen, Neil, dianne, graziano and katya all have either just had a birthday or are in the next week or 2 all celebrating whilst on tour.

Yeah, a lot of Taurus pros in the lineup. Must be a dancing gene there. Johannes had his birthday last week as well.

if you look at the pros birthdays, the vast majority have a birthday in either may or september.

i think its neil today isn't it, pretty sure he's 40.
 
Kai seems like the obvious next one for the Kevin/Gio/Pasha run of contenders until winning though I'm hoping Nikita gets plenty of good partners in future if he brings the same energy that he did last year.

I agree with the sentiments above that it would be nice to see Karen have one last real crack of the whip after being there so long and sticking it out with many duffers, comedy celebs and middlers. However, I do have slight reservations about her choreo as her 3 good partners - Charles, Jamie, Mark - all tended to do better in styles that she didn't choreograph and none really did good ballroom. She needs to bring more routines like Charles' Samba, that one was great! I suppose if Janette can get HRVY for her last though, Karen should get the same treatment and I do reckon Janette would have won with HRVY had it been a normal 2020 series (Bill wouldn't have been on).

What's with Neil's revolving door of girlfriends?

Yes, I felt the same way. It was more the VT, the chat afterwards, everyone's reactions etc that got me a bit emotional with Rose's CC (Nadiya crying was sweet, made me aww) but during the dance itself, especially before the silent part, I did feel a bit meh.

Obviously they're hard to compare, since they're going for such a different vibe, but I Nyle and Peta's freestyle definitely had the bigger wow factor for me.

I remember feeling in November like practically half the people I follow on instagram had birthdays then (which is mostly strictly/dwts pros.) I remember Luba and Giada, and I think maybe Jake or Robbie's were within a few days of each other, and Janette and Gemma's are on the same day. I feel like a disproportionate number of people I went to school with had November birthdays too, though maybe it just seems that way to me because mine's in November too, lol. Though it would make sense for a lot of birthdays to be then, 9 months after Valentine's Day after all. 😂
