. Maybe they should just scrape the DO and whoever gets the least votes goes home.
The issue with this is that you’d probably end up losing people like Ashley Roberts fairly early on. People in the early rounds vote for the likes of Tony (I’m semi convinced Rob Webb would’ve done a Tony and gone on a fair distance had he not pulled out) but then the public turn on the tonys and Dan walkers and thus are eliminated on their first dance off.

I think the main issue is that production have favourites and so do the judges which I think is why we see such random scoring sometimes. I’ve seen dances get praised but only get 7/8 and then really meh underwhelming dances getting 9s. It’s getting to a point where the judges scores are irrelevant imho. New production and nee judges are needed so badly.

Couples choice doesn’t bother me it just needs to be a week on its own (like on Halloween or musicals ) with guest judges who know what they’re talking about and not shirls being cringe.

Just caught up on ITT. Wow. Talk about suck the joy out of a room. So he thinks it wasn’t as bad as the judges made out and he doesn’t take himself seriously?!
Not a vintage series for me. There’s only a few dances I’ve gone back and watched all series. I’d love them to spend more time showing training room footage so we get to know them a bit more. I don’t feel like we’ve seen much of Molly’s character for instance. As much as I love Vito, it’s Hamza or Helen for me.

That's a fair idea, actually. CC week can replace Musicals, Movie Week becomes Movies & Musicals. In CC week 2 judges get the week off and they bring in a street/commercial judge and a contemporary judge.

And the BBC does have form for this, the BBC 4 Young Dancer of the Year Award is judged by a revolving cast, depending on the styles of dance presented by the competitors in any given year.

I mentioned this yesterday (under a spoiler 😁) and I know it has been alluded to by others - Will was placed top of the leaderboard twice in a row, literally in the two weeks preceding the semi final. I was puzzled by the fact that the judges especially Shirley suddenly pointed out flaws, that presumably were there before that? I genuinely didn't understand that tbh.

Perhaps that was partly why Nancy was so upset. Plus the intensity of it all, from working with him, because he is verrrrrry intense, as we have said here. They didn't have the same easy rapport that the others seem to have at any point. Not that that is a given, by any means, but it probably helps.

Ellie T and Johannes, for example, cried after they watched their best bits, but they still went out on a happy note, and I loved that she was so proud of what she had achieved over her time in Strictly. Will should be proud also, he certainly went into it, heart and soul, and I think I read he is due to be on the tour, so that's a good outcome too.

I'm happy with the four in the final.

I see the argument for getting rid of the dance off. It would defo make it more exciting and I do think the judges manipulate the leaderboard with their mental scoring, and probably have too much influence. But I don’t think a final of duffers would make great viewing which might happen if it was solely down to the public vote.

Maybe bring in the dance off at the QF stage to ensure a balanced final but have everything before that decided by the viewers? Or the other way round, idk?

the thing is, in the years without the dance off we didn’t have any duff winners … Natasha, Jill, Darren (as much as it pains me), Mark, Kara, Harry … generally speaking left to their own devices the voters don’t do a bad job of it.

I’d actually get rid of the dance off at the quarter/semi finals if we have to have it at all. Make the finals about who the viewers want to see. If that includes someone who isn’t the best dancer so be it.

The most bad tempered and tetchy series we’ve had have been ones with dance offs. Series 6 was terrible and series 7 even worse mainly due to the ill feeling hangover from series 6.

I'm a bit worried about Molly's dance picks. She's really good but she hasn't had a stand out dance like the others, has she? Can't think of anything I'd want to see again.
No, I do not think that Molly has had a stand out dance. However, I do not think that it matters because nothing that her or Fleur do in the final will stop Hamza or Helen winning.

I don't think the wrong person went last night. Yes, Fleur made a mistake in the dance off but she had a lot more actual technique and content in her routine to judge - Will was let down by doing his CC in the dance off. For a street dance routine, it was very basic. Most of us could have probably done it. I really don't think CCs belong in the semi final because the judges cannot judge them. If he had done his paso, taken the judges comments on board and made no mistakes then he may well have stayed.

i didn’t like either of the dance off dances … I have natural antipathy to Charleston’s danced in plimsolls it just looks wrong, to me, and makes the dance seem sticky. Couples Choice should be killed with fire. For everyone that’s half way acceptable you have to sit through half a dozen Junior Theatre Productions.

As long as it's not her CC I'm fine but if I could chose it would be her AT and the Quickstep.
To be fair, I don’t think either Molly or Carlos would want to touch that CC again with a 10 foot barge pole.

Yeah I agree, I'd like to see CC binned now. Certainly don't want to see it cropping up in the semi final, let alone the final.

Do we know that Hamza is doing his CC in the final? I really hope he goes for a ballroom otherwise - two CCs in the final, 3 if Fleur does hers is just ridiculous really.

I’ve not read the whole thread so apologies if already mentioned but at the end of the main show on Sunday Tess or Claudia said that there will be a special performance ‘tomorrow’ on the results show with the professionals and Craig but that didn’t happen

Did I mishear them?

I didn’t watch the early series but that’s interesting.

I just think it gets to be very predictable. This year you could guarantee it would either be Molly or Fleur in the DO which is boring as a viewer and also must be disheartening for them. I’m personally delighted Molly’s in the final cos I think she’s the best dancer and an absolute sweetheart, but I do think it would be a more exciting show without the dance off.

The thing about the dance off is that voters are trying to get their favourite out of the bottom 2, which makes the the lower/middle of the leaderboard into the danger zone … add in the number of ties that we seem to get on a regular basis and it creeps up higher. With the the dance off, it’s only stopping them from being dead last. Voting patterns change between the 2.
