Yes to Paul Heaton!!!! And if he doesn’t want to dance, maybe he could come and take over as a singer
Him and Jacquie Abbott are phenomenal together, if you get a chance go see them, they play all the Beautiful South hits (so many of them!) and they make sure the tickets are kept to a really reasonable price. A lovely, lovely pair of human beings.

I can't see Paul ever doing Strictly, but am now a little sad there's never been a waltz to "Song for Whoever" or "A Little Time". The lyrics are so very expressive (Promises, promises turn to dust...Wedding bells just turn to rust), I'm sure an actor could have the time of their life emoting all over the stage in a cynical, dark hued waltz about the perils of cheating.

Yeah, that's true. It doesn't look good though really does it, if the two white contestants get dances that can't be compared to anybody else (tinfoil hat rustles)

i don’t think it’s anything more sinister than they can’t work out a Dance order schedule To save their lives. They front load the series with lots of the fun stuff, which stuffs up the schedule at the end.

in the semi final for series 16, we had 2 VW’s, 2 sambas and 2 AT’s. The only one not to have any duplicated dances was Ashley … and she still pitched up in the dance off.

I think we seriously overestimate how much the viewers at home actually pay attention to duplicated dances 😂 People will vote for their favorite regardless of what they dance and how they dance it.

Yeah I don't see it as an issue. If anything people are already going to be making direct comparisons between Fleur and Molly particularly so having possibly one of the same dances will just help people decide.

And if they all do a different dance then some people moan 'how can you compare a VW to an AT?' or whatever. I assume that they have been throwing darts at a board all season and are now like 'FUUUCK we've got 5 pasos left!'

Yeah, the paso is the forgotten dance this year … isn’t Tyler the only male celeb to have had to waft a cape around?

Possibly in the minority but I don’t like the paso one bit. Even on the rare occasion I’ve enjoyed one, I forget everything about it half an hour later.

same. i think (like the rumba) it’s a dance that’s really easy to make look awkward because you have to be so sincere in it, if that even makes sense!

the only one that springs to mind that i’ve enjoyed is alexandra and gorka’s but they are always a little forgettable to me. yet when i watch pros do it i absolutely love it! must be a dance that’s really tricky for a novice to get right.

Yea you’re right! I know I’ve older relatives who watch it and don’t even listen to the name of the dance. Two dances can look so different it’s hard for most to tell what they’re even dancing! I was convinced Molly’s cha cha was a Charleston and if you put Helen and Will’s Charleston’s beside each other they’re like two completely different dances.

I had this very thought earlier about the lack of Paul and Jacqui/Beautiful South songs being used earlier on. Also apologies for derailing slightly but going to see Paul and Jacqui is an absolute treat like you say. Saturday’s ticket was the best £30 I’ve spent in ages (The Proclaimers ticket the week before was only £35 too)
