I had the opposite thought, I feel like they might be trying to set Hamza up for success, samba is similar to salsa which we know he can do well and a lion king dance will have African theming reminiscent of his couples choice. Only thinking this because he's been a bit underwhelming the last few weeks and now getting accusations of overmarking, feel like they're trying to orchestrate another breakthrough moment like with the salsa. But this is just my cynical side talking, maybe they have the songs and dances planned weeks in advance 🤷

I doubt it… I think they’re just acknowledging the choreography team which is fair enough. Regardless of people’s feelings Jason and his team put a lot of hours into the group dances and do deserve to be recognised. I also think if Shirley did leave for the states the bbc would never get way with replacing her with a man. They’ll be another woman who’s just as knowledgeable that can replace her probably someone who’s not as widely known.
 
The extent of my musicals knowledge is going to see Jersey Boys, reading a couple of the Carrie Hope Fletcher’s (she’s Tom’s sister dontcha know) threads and watching Amy Lennox’s Cabaret on YT (she’s from my home city). But even I know there is a plethora of musicals they could have chosen from! What is going on? I don’t know what is involved in rights to play songs etc but something has shifted not only in the costumes but the sticking to the same songs/features year in year out. Pay the Judges less and up the costume/music budget.
 
Mein Herr seems like a really odd choice for Helen , especially for couples choice . It’s got a really distinctive dance style/routine linked to it which needs to be sharp and confident, which isn’t her strong point , and the song ( at least in the context of the musical ) is about feeling trapped and suffocated by the idea of domestic life , and wanting more as a strong sexual woman , which again is pretty much the opposite of Helen .
 
I thought they would have left Hamzas Samba until the semi-final, he does good with the party dances and they usually do two differing styles.

This week seems really weak music wise, I have wondered if this year they are putting in a basic effort budget wise since its World cup season, with so many of the songs beings repeats this year or at least similar and the costumes being worse than ever it's all a bit weird. :confused:
 
I think Fleur has the best music with a bit of old Hollywood glitz and glam. Vito in tails, please!

I reckon we'll get a Kym vs Will dance off. Will's dance has "boring" stamped all over it with a song like that, and I just don't see a Fame cha cha being Kym's forte.

Kym would have done a stunning Mein Herr - bit of a shame it didn't go to her.
 
I thought Helen had couple’s choice this week as the VT crew were filming at her house with her baby this morning. I’m not sure how it’ll go either but I also can’t imagine her doing street dance or a floaty contemporary (particularly as they are all about emoting and stories, which isn’t her strong suit). Maybe she can hide behind the theme a bit this week 😬

Looking forward to Fleur and Vito, can’t believe we have another Lion King samba

I can’t believe we’ve got to the Quarter Finals and people have been wearing shoes in every dance

I thought Molly would have the edge with the Charleston in the battle of the dance off queens, but Fleur's Quickstep could be good.

I have been obsessed with those threads the past few months, especially since she got engaged to a walking ick after only 5 months 💀

I just don't see her public vote letting her down, even if she's shite. We know Fleur, Molly, and Kym lack support, so whichever two perform worst on the night..
I feel a 40 coming on for Helen. They're filming with her kids so maybe she's going to allude to her difficult year and then this will be her Big Breakthrough (tm).

Omg re CHF's fiancé. He's repulsive and there are more red flags than a golf course. I can't look away- I read every thread about their relationship in about a week!
