The routines seem to be planned out weeks in advance so it's probably just easier to use the ones that were on the bench from the start, plus I suppose that's why they're there.

Never really considered the planning in advance...just seems a but redundant to bring in extra backing dancers when there's a row of eliminated pros clapping politely on the sidelines...
