I might be wrong but I think it comes down to money, I'm guessing the pay isn't brilliant and you wouldn't get much of a career boost from just doing the Christmas special unlike the real show.
 
A few of last year's Christmas celebs felt very much along the lines of well-known names who would never commit to a full series (Mel and Anne-Marie especially). Which kind of makes sense if you're going to book new faces

Weirdly, I can imagine Rosie and Rickie on a full series, but compared to last year's special, they don't feel famous enough for Christmas 😆

Well, the Christmas lineup is pish so far. Not expecting A-listers but the whole point is to get recognisable names who can do a full series. So far we have the wife of a comedian who did the show 3 years ago and some barely known radio host. And they've not cast high profile pros either, Neil again, really?
 
Angela Rippon, Michael Mcintyre, Jason Manford, Alan Shearer, Hannah Fry from Panorama, Michael Moseley, Gordon Ramsey.......etc... not saying I'm a fan of these but there are loads of names that are either paid ££££££ by the BBC already or could do with exposure to a different sort of audience.

If Rosie Ramsey is their biggest name then their booker needs to be sacked.

It’s all the simple but passive aggressive “who?” posts that make me laugh. “Oh sorry Ted, you’re not familiar with this person? Why don’t you tell us who your favourite celeb of all time is? Meryl Streep you say? No problem, we’ve been putting her off for years. We’ll give her a call”

It seems to be only Eastenders folk that are possibly given no choice in participating but I think they may ask the bigger named stars if they want to do it and if they say no, that’s it 🤷🏻‍♀

I’m inclined to agree. I’d imagine the pay and the exposure from the Christmas special are not especially persuasive. Then when you throw in the possibility that you’ll end up jiving to the Only Fools and Horses theme tune with ‘Sexy Rodney’ …

to be fair, Alan is a bit otherwise engaged this year. I think we got Tilly last year as a make do Ramsey in lieu of Gordon.

Rosie does seem to be someone the BBC have plans for if being on both Strictly and Sewing Bee is any indication.
