Oh is that the musical guest this week? I didn't join the dots with Oti having choreographed that show until just there!


Loved that one too. I remember the emotion in the room after from Ranvir, Gio, the judges and the other dancers. Like you said a simple dance, done really well.
And also music from a new musical so it can be done.

Made me a bit mad last year that Ranvir got totally memory-holed by the Gio/Rose fans who claimed he'd never been 'soft' before. Yeah. (also features possibly his best-ever hair!)

Gio's hair was great that year, and 'age appropriate' (as Shirley might say) rather than whatever is going on with it at the moment which makes him look like a retiree hanging out at the golf club

Actually the BBC is short of money given inflation compared to long term freeze of TV licence and them having to fund licence for elderly that govt used to pay for. But they should be trying for more variety of musicals.

All the more reason for them to shop around. Jukebox musicals and ones that are from films too are much more complicated to negotiate. Strictly must have shares in Cabaret and The Lion King. Totally uninspired.

I forgot just how gorgeous this dance was - Ranvir really was the most beautiful ballroom dancer.

I don't really know why Giovanni is morphing into a sleazy mobster before our eyes. I was hoping a different type of partnership with none of the usual showmance he plays up to might humble him somewhat, but he seems to be evolving further into a caricature of himself. God knows what the final stage of his evolution will be.

I remember laughing at those comments last year. Like are people's memories so short that they can't remember back to the previous Strictly season? I watched 2020 quite closely because you know... lockdown! But I'd argue he was softer with Ranvir than Rose. Even if it is all an act

I just looked at that dance again and wow I'd forgotten how well they danced together. Their ballroom was just gorgeous.

And yeah 2020 was peak Gio - what has happened to him? You're right that he's like a caricature now! Basically signing up to every sleazy middle aged Italian stereotype, but 20 years early.

I remember everyone deciding from Ranvir and Gio’s AT that they were shagging and then when the series finished it became pretty clear they weren’t and then watching everyone do exactly the same thing with AJ & Kai a year later with the same outcome

England obviously qualified last night but sadly Wales didn’t and I’m assuming the schedule changes are around their potential matches. However the next two games from England’s group (D) are on Saturday at 3pm (USA v Holland) and England v Senegal is on Sunday

England or Wales could have finished second in the group and if they had, their match would be Saturday afternoon. Even allowing for extra time and penalties, Strictly could have been on at 7 or 8 o’clock on Saturday where having the results show at 5.40 on Saturday could end up being bumped (if the BBC are showing the match). The results show on Sunday could have been brought

I love football but I don’t understand the logic in shifting things around when neither match would clash with it on the usual Saturday night .

Because there are still ties to be played on Saturday and Sunday that haven’t yet been finalised … they will be decided today (one to play on Saturday at 7 o’clock and one on Sunday at 3 o’clock). Until the knockout ties between groups C and D are decided ITV won’t make their decisions about their picks.

as It stands, the only match you could say for sure ITV will have will be the England game on Sunday at 7o’clock. The Saturday ties and Sunday afternoon tie haven’t been allocated.

The BBC won’t put Strictly up against any match on ITV and they had to make a decision … they couldn’t wait until tonight or even tomorrow morning to find out what matches they have and where to put a live Strictly show With all the planning that entails. This way, they have put it somewhere they know it won’t clash with anything and the pre-recorded results show can be shifted if necessary.

It’s now at the point of the tournament where the TV schedules are only going to be finalised at 2 days notice.

It’s the polo neck under double breasted jackets for me: bank manager at the golf club dinner look! He has a new stylist I think so this must be her doing, maybe prepping him for his BBC/Anton gig?
