I think a lot of the pro’s are the same age and know each other from the competition circuit … AJ was probably the next age group down?
I remember reading (I think it was on DS) around the time AJ and Chloe joined Strictly that they were actually competing as amateurs when they were approached by Strictly. They turned Pro so they could join the show and then Chloe got screwed over and they never gave her a partner.

It was just TV gold!

- I’d like to dedicate this to my sister. Oh she’s alive and well, she’s in musical theatre and we don’t really talk
- Russell Crowe, sorry inebriated Russell Crowe, doing a good luck message for someone he’d never heard of
- the “this is it Amy. Get ready for your first 40 - they’ll all love it, especially Cynthia Erico” expectations
- Cynthia Erivo “it’s a no from me”
I forgot Cynthia Erivo was guest judge - love her.
Watch her Prom on iPlayer - it’s incredible.

Nobody asked for two Lion King sambas and luckily Richie's was a pile of lion dung otherwise people would be comparing Hamza's. Fair enough, the musical is quite different to the film but why not just do a totally different musical when there are SO many available?!

Yeah, I think that Molly will be compared to Georgia's performance of the same song (at least by LadyLav!), and Fleur's was done by both Ore (infamous showdance) and Simon Webbe. Not that things can't be recycled but there are so many great musicals and songs out there.

I totally get that applying for and paying for rights isn't easy, but recycling does nobody any favours and I'm sorry, but everyone knows that the BBC is not short of money. There's no excuse for constantly going for the same thing.

If they didn't know each other from the comp circuit they certainly all know each other from Burn the Floor! I suppose being so much younger didn't help either, it's a shame his and Kai's years didn't cross as they knew each other well.
Unbelievably AJ is actually older than kai despite looking like he is his baby brother.

Actually the BBC is short of money given inflation compared to long term freeze of TV licence and them having to fund licence for elderly that govt used to pay for. But they should be trying for more variety of musicals.

I think AJ could pass for Kai's son, really.

As Ariadne Reviews has noted more than once, Kai is a time-traveller from the 1950s' and normal standards of aging don't apply to him.

Also, I cannot believe that in the same year we lost both Angela Lansbury and Stephen Sondheim (those twin titans of musical theatre!) we don't have a single tribute song/dance to either of them! That's a pretty poor show on the part of the Song Picking Elves, I feel.

You could argue they've already commemorated Sondheim with West Side Story from Molly and Carlos, but a really fitting tribute to both Lansbury and Sondheim would be Sweeney Todd. A waltz to A Little Priest would be so entertaining for a celebrity who can act up to it.

Thats what was so frustrating he is an excellent dancer and teacher to throw it all away to be a celeb is baffling. Surely he knows the rent a Z lister reality tv circuit has a shelf life and the later he left jumping ship the better it would be? Could he really be that vain and thick?
I know the Pros like to give the impression they are all one big happy family, and for the most part I believe them, but each year when they were on tour I was a bit suspicious that AJ had no real bond with the other pros.
BIB - Yes! 😝

Surely most musicals running on the west end would only love the exposure of one of their songs on strictly that the licensing could go for cheap?? Not like the bbc doesn’t have enough money anyway

You'd think! They'll be promoting the new Cher musical with a performance so why not give as much exposure as they can while theatres are still getting back on their feet?

Oh is that the musical guest this week? I didn't join the dots with Oti having choreographed that show until just there!

Oh that is one of my favourite Musicals Week performances. Just a lovely, simple VW #justice4ranvir
Loved that one too. I remember the emotion in the room after from Ranvir, Gio, the judges and the other dancers. Like you said a simple dance, done really well.
And also music from a new musical so it can be done.
