Will’s music + foxtrot = coma

Hopefully Kym will benefit from a bit of Irene Cara memorial voting. Though I agree she’d have rocked ‘Mein Herr’. Cabaret is my favourite musical of all time, and that’s my favourite song from it.

I just can’t see the look, characterisation or dance style suiting Helen at all.

And let’s all just take a moment to imagine how fabulous Faye Tozer would have been with ‘Mein Herr’

Can Helen just sub in Faye instead? That would be EPIC.

Agree it was a silly and premature thing to do. I do wonder whether Oti regrets leaving too when she is standing there having to present whatever crappy ITV dance show they have made her do! But at least she is a good presenter and has name and face recognition from Strictly. AJ just didn't stick it out long enough.
Oti is getting to close out Christmas Day on the BBC with the Luke gospel reading, which is quite a thing for her.

I know it was a different actual week last year, but I’ve just remembered that last year gave us Tom Fletcher’s elimination and this year will never live up to that.

Musicals-related: this was a fab pro-dance

The best bit of all being the fact that Anton rocked up wearing his nan’s coat 🤣

I think Oti's done fine, really. Her whole career never had to revolve around Strictly like other pros - she had an established, successful dance studio where she continues to teach. She can choose to do whatever work she likes but I know doing the bible reading will mean a lot to her. Plus she's now a choreographer for Strictly which is probably more enjoyable for her than balancing the heavy partner schedule.

plus the masked dancer is my guilty pleasure, okay?

Why, in the name of all that is holy are we getting another Lion King samba!!!???
There's so many different musicals that they could pick from??

Such a disappointing mix of songs and dances for musicals week! The only one I'm looking forward to seeing is Molly's Charleston
Also slightly intrigued about Helens CC VT...she's been so stoic about the cheating ex husband, I can't see her wanting to make a big deal of a VT, but likewise I can imagine the production pushing for some sympathy votes...
My guess is that Helens VT will be about her struggles as a single mum and will allude to her unexpectedly difficult year without giving mention to her ex at all. I bet they're going to focus on how she's getting her confidence back after it took a battering and how she struggles to feel sexy.
Also Mein Herr would totally work for a little light tap dancing.

When Sara and Aljaz were eliminated last year, they said they would have been dancing to a song from Six if they’d stayed in and I was hoping it would be used for someone else this time around but instead it’s the same bunch of musicals it always is.

There are so many fantastic musicals out there with so many fantastic songs but Strictly keep picking from the same few. I love musicals but they manage to make musicals week boring every year. I haven’t been wowed by a dance since Faye’s goatherd Charleston.

She's talked a lot about how much her parents have helped her recently, so I'm thinking the VT might be a bit of a tribute to them (on her stories earlier she posted the crew were filming at their house today)

Especially as he was a good pro, that did well partnering his different celebs and worked really well with Lauren and her disability. He got pretty far with all of them, so it was just a bit baffling. I know covid apparently messed up some of their plans but it was still a foolish gamble.

Thats what was so frustrating he is an excellent dancer and teacher to throw it all away to be a celeb is baffling. Surely he knows the rent a Z lister reality tv circuit has a shelf life and the later he left jumping ship the better it would be? Could he really be that vain and thick?
I know the Pros like to give the impression they are all one big happy family, and for the most part I believe them, but each year when they were on tour I was a bit suspicious that AJ had no real bond with the other pros.

I think a lot of the pro’s are the same age and know each other from the competition circuit … AJ was probably the next age group down?

I do wonder sometimes if people who have worked and studied hard at something like dancing or singing or acting and gone to audition after audition then find themselves famous as a side effect look at z list reality TV crew and think ' I wish I hadn't wasted my time developing a skill when these vacuous dimwits are getting work for nothing'. Maybe he thought being a z lister was money for old rope compared to a life of choreography and dancing competitions and training etc etc.

I liked Ranvir's dance to She Used To Be Mine but that was mainly because I'd never heard it before and I identified with that song way too hard (I still cry every time I hear it)

Surely musicals week should target some musicals currently available in the West End or upcoming shows ie Guys and Dolls is a due a revival. This year we could have had Get Up Stand Up (Hamza has the dreads a reggae samba is totally possible), Back To The Future (not you, Lee Ryan), And Juliet (really fun pop songs that everyone knows), Tick Tick Boom (massive netflix success with great songs) to name a FEW. Why the hell haven't we had Hamilton yet?

we had a little trip down memory lane a few threads back when people posted a lot of previous routines from aj and i’d really forgotten what a beautiful dancer (and wonderful partner) he was. it is still wild to me that he (imo) threw that away. i completely agree that he didn’t seem close with the other pros though.

Oh that is one of my favourite Musicals Week performances. Just a lovely, simple VW #justice4ranvir

i was surprised by no six too - there are so many options! helen could have done a great and fun little number to don’t lose your head, heart of stone would make a wonderful foxtrot etc…. it’s a shame they’ve picked the same set of shows again, including one song and routine that has already been done (and well) before.

(I'm so sorry for the epic space between paras but I can't correct it as my phone is throwing a total Tattle wobbly.)

i saw a few people post about that in the help forums so i don’t think it’s just you.

i like it - it gives your posts a dramatic pause 😉
