She gets so caught up reading everything very accurately from the autocue and her question list that she forgets to display the required emotion to go with it.
That sounds really shady, sorry Janette, but good autocue reading and interviewing is something of an accquired skill. Rylan can do it, he can switch seamlessly from doing the autocue to pre-written questions to riffing with the interviewee easily enough, he's been doing it for years.
Janette sticks very rigidly to the script, even if there are situations where she should drop the questions list and allow her interviewee time to breathe and maybe say something interesting and spontaneous. I'm thinking of Molly last week, where she and Carlos said something that answered the next question on the pre-written script, and Janette just ploughed on with the question anyway, so the poor pair were left repeating themselves over again. That's the sort of thing that'll come easier with experience, I suppose, if she stays on ITT as presenter.
