And Anton declaring so many dances 'the best he's ever seen in the show!', another thing that becomes meaningless after he's said it half a dozen times.

You're right, this sort of thing doesn't build excitement. It's so annoying because Strictly doesn't have to resort to silly tactics (see also the ridiculous use of stats at every opportunity - 'did you know that's the earliest 10 for a cha cha cha ever?' - not a good thing!)

It's no coincidence that the dance of the series so far - Hamza's salsa - was a genuine surprise and not a result of manipulation. And I think the producers were just as surprised as the audience!

BIB - They are the moments you just can't manufacture, no matter how hard producers desperately try.

They make such a big deal about Criag's first 10 and the perfect score that you know full well it's weaved into the 'storyline' and is signposted for Blackpool or just after. Therefore no spontaneity at all.

I’ve never been but have heard the studio audience is led to applaud so standing ovations etc. They boo every time the score is lower than a 7. I’m not sure how they can go past it without having a root and branch deconstruction of the scores. The first week used to be amazing if you got a 6 - now you get 8s and 9s it’s stupid.

10s were for perfect dances once - now it just has to have a really good story attached and not too many obvious mistakes.

I think it was Arlene (or maybe Len) who said they start each dance as a ‘5’ then add and subtract for each good/not good thing they spot.

I’m guessing that, Craig notwithstanding, the current panel don’t judge that way.

Something is going a bit awry when you have the same dance score a 7 and a 10 (especially when a Strictly 7 feels more like a 5 these days 😆)

I think what he really means is 'that was much better than anything I did on the show'. So are 99% of the dances, Anton
To be fair, that’s always happened with Craig and his scoring … he gave Mark Benton a 3 for one of his dances, when Len gave an 8. Bruno used to give 10’s out willynilly as well - he still holds the title for earliest 10 giver for Louisa and Vincent’s jive. Week three dance but actually only their second dance because of the split start in that year. Trying to make sense of the scoring is like trying to plait fog.

I remember Len saying he started at a mark of 3, one point for actually getting out on the floor, one for knowing right and one for knowing left. Although he gave a 3 to Quentin Wilson where 2 of those were debatable.

He said "i didn't have a choice" meaning fleurs dance was so good he had no option but to give a ten but I heard it differently

Was this before or after her win with jay? Always liked Aliona! I feel her era is so different to the strictly of now and she wasn’t even on it that long ago!! Feel it’s changed in the past 4/5 years.

Totally agree with this! I don’t know what it is but she seems to have the sexual chemistry of an ironing board.
I've seen Amy and her Husband dance together life on the here come the girls tour and I can tell you when she's with someone she finds attractive there is definitely sexual chemistry there 🔥🔥

Agreed!! I think she just doesn’t do manufactured forced emotion- her and Karim were more like siblings which worked for them albeit certain dances see AT

It really struck me when Tyler's dances and scores were shown on ITT. He started off with very high scores. And Shirley drooling over him.
Ended with a very respectable score also, if I remember correctly.

But did his dancing not really improve or were the scores all over the shop? Or a bit of both?

I think it was a case of both, really. He did seem to plateau and started to look like he was struggling a bit, but I think if the judges had addressed his posture and footwork issues earlier on rather than ignoring them to create hype, he might have made some improvements.

I think it's both - good start but slightly overmarked both raising expectations and annoying some people maybe. Then not much real progress, wasn't good in hold. And didn't have much of a narrative (ran marathon, brother's wedding, liked torches). I found him most likeable at the end talking about himself to Rylan a bit on ITT.

lmao at this photo of Leo looking like some kind of cryptid. His poor little flat face though.
