She gets so caught up reading everything very accurately from the autocue and her question list that she forgets to display the required emotion to go with it.

That sounds really shady, sorry Janette, but good autocue reading and interviewing is something of an accquired skill. Rylan can do it, he can switch seamlessly from doing the autocue to pre-written questions to riffing with the interviewee easily enough, he's been doing it for years.

Janette sticks very rigidly to the script, even if there are situations where she should drop the questions list and allow her interviewee time to breathe and maybe say something interesting and spontaneous. I'm thinking of Molly last week, where she and Carlos said something that answered the next question on the pre-written script, and Janette just ploughed on with the question anyway, so the poor pair were left repeating themselves over again. That's the sort of thing that'll come easier with experience, I suppose, if she stays on ITT as presenter.
She’ll get there as you said- her instagram live interviews in the lockdowns were good and on the whole unscripted so she can do it but it will come with practice

4 of the female DWTS pregnant at the same time, wow! Wonder if we will see any of the strictly girls have kids anytime soon? It’s a difficult one because DWTS allows their pros to have seasons off and come back, i'm not sure strictly would be as lenient.

I always thought that was one of the reasons the bench was created in the first place, it allows the female pros to take a step back if they were pregnant but then it's never happened.

Yeah that would make sense but like you said it’s never been the case. DWTS pros have been allowed to dip in and out over the years but I don’t think strictly have ever had a pro return after leaving have they?

I can't think of any pros who have left and then returned, the strictly team are always quite swift in bringing in new ones soon after
Didn't Kevin want to return but was told no.

Aliona got the boot, and then got promptly hauled back in 2013 because the lovely Natalie had hurt herself at the last minute and they had literally no other spare women dancers.

Aliona got to dance with Aged Golfer Tony Jacklin for all of 2 weeks, and then spent the rest of the series giving amazingly bitchy sidelong looks to the camera and selling stories to all the papers about how AWFUL and UNFAIR the producers were, it was extremely entertaining.

I think the closest would be Aliona but she was brought back before the series ever started. I know the US version is well paid compared to Strictly but I have always had the impression that Strictly is more prestigious for the pros especially if comparing the Euro versions so it's likely the producers can pick and choose.
Especially in the last few years when new Pros like Nikkita, Kai and Jowita have had a really successful debut I wouldn't be surprised if the line-up started get refreshed with a bit more frequency.

I forgot about Aliona, although like you said that was due to an injury wasn’t it? DWTS literally fired both Artem & Sharna but brought them back the next season because they had so much backlash, and Artem finally got his win!

DWTS also had Louis van Amstel & Mark Ballas coming back after quite a long hiatus. I wonder if any of our earlier/middle era pros could be tempted back for a series in a similar way or if they are all done with it for good. I know that age is a factor but Louis came back to DWTS at 50.

Doesn't seem to be SCD's style though and at least that means we don't ever have to watch KFG or Pritchard again.

I think it might depend on the situation and I assume there’s probably some equality employment laws they have to abide by which would probably include maternity leave

If for example Dianne (I’ll use her as she has said she would like children one day and I’m not sure where the others such as Katya and Jowita stand) signed up for another year but found out she was pregnant unexpectedly (because these things happen) a month or so later I would imagine they’d at least have to offer her the option of coming back because she was under contract. Some of the more senior pros might have a bit more sway than say Michelle or Lauren so might be able to negotiate some kind of deal. (Especially if they were a pro well liked by production)

Obviously in this industry a lot of the time the decision to start a family means slowing down career wise and a change in direction so coming back probably wouldn’t be a thing anyway.

I think if one of the Dancers went on maternity leave they would have to let them back in they wanted to. Different from Kevin deciding he was going to be a megastar or whatever he thought.

Dancers are contracted year by year for Strictly I believe, so probably wouldn't even be maternity leave for them.

An 8 yr old competed in the Indian version. Wow!
And I thought DWTS was bad having a 14 year old compete. Or was it a junior version of the show like DWTS did?

Yeah, that's right. So technically the pros never get fired they just don't get asked back. None of the pros now know if they'll be asked back for next year or not.
