Anyone else think Tess could have been a bit more dressed up for Blackpool? Years back she was dressed up every week but she’s dressing more and more casual. I’d love Angela Rippon to take the job. Big hair, big shoulder pads and fancy clothes. She’d be excellent on Strictly, bring a bit of glitz back.

Am I missing something?
Is Sugg attractive and I'm not seeing it?

Gio on the fags (I just think 'fag breath' sorry).

Georgia May Foote smokes as well (or at least she did when with Gio)

Joe used to have something about him, back in the day, very likeable, sweet, funny, cute in a slightly unconventional way. And his personality really elevated his appeal and made him more than just someone you could like based on appearance.

He has lost a lot of that spark and appeal these days, but not the worst looking guy still.

I think it’s an Italian thing 🤣 it’s much more common over there to smoke as a younger person. My friend’s Italian husband and all his siblings smoke. It does help with weight control which I imagine is a bonus too for professional dancers.

I was about to say the same: I used to work with an Italian who smoked like a chimney, ate almost nothing, and mainlined espresso. Unsurprisingly, he was extremely slender.

I suppose it was going to happen at some point, she's been angling for Strictly since Chris did it. Apparently she's partnered with Neil as well 💀

(I’m only laughing because I don’t watch the Christmas special - these two together will be a special kind of annoying hell! She’ll be fully looking at this as a gateway to being the ‘main star’ on next year’s show)

If Vito can do it..

It’s his hair.
im sure it is clean … it just looks very … off putting.

I sort of like the idea of a CC week so the dances can be more easily compared, but a big problem with it is that CC is usually the place for 'sob stories' and the fact that some celebs won't have one (or one they're willing to share.) The Most Memorable Year week on the American one this year was so eyeroll inducing I couldn't watch it all in one sitting. Too much second hand embarrassment, had to watch it in two parts. A few celebs had genuinely tragic and/or inspiring stories, and it was sooooo awkward the way the VTs were scripted, edited and overproduced to try to make the contestants whose stories were things like 'when I got my big break by being cast in a teen soap' or 'when I became a mother' seem just as serious and impactful as the contestants whose stories were like 'when I was diagnosed with a chronic, debilitating illness' or 'when I worked as an ICU nurse during the pandemic.' Basically it was like 3 or 4 genuinely moving stories, and the rest awkward producer-mandated crying about their alive sisters/children/guinea pigs. The American one has always been a lot worse with production forcing melodrama, but I don't think that Strictly has the right production team at the moment to do much better.

I struggle with the idea that any dance needs to be accompanied by a misery memoir. I look back fondly on the days where a dance was just done.
Jill’s jive stands well enough on its own without being dedicated to a dead gerbil.

I think that’s the issue. She’s 33 years old, not some sappy teenager, but she seems incredibly juvenile and silly. 🤷‍♀️
And she massively plays up that silly, ditzy side of her personality as I think she thinks it makes her stand out and fun? But it’s actually quite annoying. Like she is clearly talented but that overshadows it somewhat for me.

She just comes across a bit "try hard" in general. The improv stories were just embarrassing. I think if she just relaxed she'd be so much more tolerable.
They were so cringe they make me want to shrivel up.

Why would they have Rosie Ramsey for the Christmas special - her husband is more famous and he did the full series? The whole point of having new celebs for Christmas is to have names who aren't that likely to do a full series at that point in time (or ever).

And why Neil? We have 3 good male pros to use in Kai, Gio & Nikita, why does Neil need to feature? I don't care that it's because he was benched, no sympathy because he's lucky to still be on the show full stop.

I saw Gio and Anton's show and saw him backstage smoking. I was gutted.

I was heartbroken to see this photo of Aljaz!

Ugh, why? I still love him, but ugh. 😣 😭

I was also really shocked to see pap pics of Karen smoking. Seems so at odds with her facemasks and incense zen master thing.

Also was shocked by pap pics of Maisie, John and Jake smoking during the tour. They just seem too young, especially Maisie. I'm 29 and I genuinely don't know a single person who smokes, apart from a few older relatives.

Nadiya too! How disappointing knowing she looks like a goddess but smells like an ashtray.

Even smokers will tell you, smoking is gross.

I'm not surprised they do it though - dancers do it as an appetite suppressant to get through long hour days.

Gio seems to eat hardly anything (pace Gola and Hello Fresh!) and smokes - wonder if it's a weight control thing?

I have noticed in recent years his celebs always mention it, it would appear that he doesn't eat lunch (or snack) just a coffee and cigarettes. I did notice with Rose they would often get something to eat in the evening at the end of training so maybe he just has excellent self control to wait until afterwards.

I have a vague memory of it being once said that pretty much everyone other than Gorka smokes.

I had no idea she was 33! She sometimes comes across as rather vulnerable and emotionally immature which I took as youth and lack of life experience. I actually like Dianne outside of Strictly, for some reason Strictly seems to bring out all her insecurities and she doesn't appear to have the mental strength to work on those issue on the off season.
