They've always had good dancers on the show.

The problem with Ashley is that she was a professional dancer!!! Not just a pop star who was used to dancing. But she actually earned her living dancing!!! I'll never understand why they cast her.

And I liked Ashley on I'm a Celebrity and felt that she was robbed by Janine playing the kiddy card. But I didn't like her on Stricly. Cos she was a professional dancer!!!

It wouldn't shock me if some are put off but I imagine some (especially slightly lower profile ones who want a boost) would still do it. Equally the uber bad duffers haven't appeared in a couple of years except for Tony in Week 1. The middlers interest me the least unless they have a breakthrough. I've enjoyed seeing the likes of Kym this year and Tilly last year progress but when it's a James Bye type who is never going to be anything above average then it's a bit dull to watch.
 
Well that was a fun show!
I never quite "get" all the Blackpool hype but the ballroom itself is undeniably gorgeous and the atmosphere was fantastic.
Motsi looked fabulous, working that storage basket hairdo!
My mum says she had a raincoat like the ones in the pro dance back in the 1950s when she was a babby.
Hamza danced beautifully and Jowita looked lovely. Lacked a bit of wow-factor and he is certainly pigeon-toed but still a nice dance.
I'm not a Beyoncé fan at all, not a particular DC fan, and not really a Fleur fan either but I fecking loved that performance! The power, the control, the balance stuff, the low-key partnering style of Vito - I thought it was so well done. I didn't see a single mistake so I was happy to see Craig dislodge his 10 paddle from wherever he keeps it 😬
Helen did fantastic too. Awful costumes but they worked well in motion. She is well on the way to unclenching and actually enjoying herself.
Poor Kym did phenomenally well with the crappy cards she was dealt - shocking song and meh costumes, and no cape! Her armography (😏) was really impressive - she deserved a cape dammit!
Tyler did well. I just don't trust him in the lifts - they never quite come off for me as they don't flow, always seeming to begin mechanically after a noticeable pause, so they become a bit clunky and uncomfortable to watch. I felt he was a bit overmarked but fair play, better than other weeks.
Mardy Mellor does nothing for me. He danced well but again I felt he was overmarked.
Molly back in her Barbie outfit again - it was grand, nothing exceptional for me. Her expression while dancing confuses me a bit.
Ellie danced well. She has a great ballroom frame and an elegant build. Her costume, hair and makeup were lovely. I could've done without the bleeping about with the chair and the underwhelming attempt at flying - would've worked better if she had descended to the stage/dancefloor at the beginning of the dance, no?
Tyler/Molly/Ellie main danceoff risks I reckon.

i liked her and she was a gorgeous dancer (obviously!) but fully agree that she shouldn’t have been cast. she and debbie are maybe the few true ringers the show has had (i think a ringer really is someone who has actually been a professional and made a living through dancing).

trying to catch up but has anyone worked out what went wrong in ellie’s routine? she seemed so upset and apologised to johannes about ten times when they finished, but i couldn’t see anything obvious. i had had a few wines by that point though 🤣

overall found it very flat and no one stood out for me. i get why they have the extra dancers but i just find them so distracting.

I mean the show only finished at 9.15 plus they have to allow time to vote and everything, I just think it would be too soon for the results show to be done and dusted for 10.30. Possible they just had a break while filming the results show?
 
For once Ellie got a lovely dress and Johannes looked amazing.

Craig's comment to Will about Tyler was bitchy. Like him or not, Tyler comes out smiling every week even in his tiny bra
I thought he looked a bit crestfallen after that comment.

Will seemed to enjoy himself but if we are doing comparisons, he ain't got a patch on Kelvin's hip action 😁 imo.

Thread was absolutely brilliant as usual. I was cracking up laughing even before I started watching. Nikita's blouse 😁 was something to behold (still love him) but not a patch on Gio's yellow getup. 😁

I wonder was Tony at home with his feet up thinking 'thank duck I'm out'😁.
I would have loved to see him and Katya one more time. 😁
 
I don’t want to harp back to last year constantly, and I really appreciate a different new group this year, but I can’t help thinking that last year’s cast might have pulled off a more ‘wow’ Blackpool show, and it’s a bit sad they didn’t get to go.

Equally, they could’ve done and it could’ve been shite 🤣
