Be interesting to see which pros stay on next year. I wonder if Karen will stay on but asked to be benched. It’s good steady income for a dancer. Gio, I think stay on and try and do an Anton, plus the Beeb have invested him with his and Antons travel show - their answer to Ant n Dec? Maybe they will give Luba a celeb next year?

Ellie might have the votes but she’s highly unlikely to win a semi-final DO I think barring miracles ( if we think Will, Hamza, Helen, are guaranteed).

Re Gorka, this will be his third final with an excellent partner but no win. Not his fault but wonder if he’ll ever get the magical perfect partner

The elusive female celeb winner that ticks all those boxes. I doubt we'll get another Rose any time soon, but I guess anything is possible. Or maybe he'll be considered for a good male partner

I'm also wondering if we'll ever go back to the days of a close final. It feels like things have shifted a bit since 2018 and couples build momentum a bit earlier - maybe to do with a wider use social media a those 'moments' going viral?

Some of the early series weren‘t close either really.
Darren had won series 3 from week 2 …and even said in his autobiography something to the effect that he was so far ahead in the voting when the final started (voting lines open all week in those days) that the actual final made no difference at all.
Was anyone other than Mark really going to win series 4 after week 4 at the latest?

Ah, I've only been watching since about 2013 (and only really been paying attention since 2015)

It would be nice to have some genuine jeopardy and tension in a final again after the last few years, but I might have to wait a bit longer 😆
 
I feel like Gorka won't get a win TBH. I reckon that Gio was the last of that generation to win and after Jowita gets hers this year, the newer generation guys like Nikita and maybe Kai are likely to be the ones who will win in future years. Next year would be Gorka's 8th series and every winning pro has done it within 7 series, most winning fairly early (Flavia & Gio waited the longest). He's not alone though, I can't see most of the long term pros as winners.
 
If the general public liked Alexandra Burke, she would have been Gorka's winner but I agree he's missed the boat now.

I don't see Karen, Amy, Nadiya or Dianne ever lifting the glitterball. Not sure Jojo ever will either.

I think in the current lineup, Nancy, Nikita and Kai are the ones likely to win in future.

(Just realised I missed out Neil but come on, he's never gonna do it!)

I think they're hoping that Antons' unthreateningly comedic "Englishman abroad" plus Gio's self-aware "sexy Italian" will prove a mild ratings hit in the same way that Gordon, Gino and Fred did for ITV a year or so back.

Plus, the BBC have been trying to give Anton a steady presenting gig away from Strictly for the last 15 years Who can forget the mild peril and staggering indignities of the gameshow "Hole in the Wall"? Or "Step Up To The Plate"? Or any of the ten thousand One Show/Pointless/Saturday Kitchen appearances he's done.

(No disrespect to Anton here, if someone offers you a reasonably steady gig plus appearances on the One Show when you're in a profession like ballroom dancing, you grab it with both hands. You'd be mad not to. But his IMDB page is basically a History of Televisual Light Entertainment 2002-2022, someone could base a whole PhD on British Modern Media off of just him)
 
Commiserations to poor Richie once again as Gio posts more stories for Rose’s birthday than he did with him during their entire stint on the show.

Also, commiserations are due to the KJ shippers who’ve taken nothing but Ls for nearly a year whilst Gio posts videos of Rose in her pjs. Considering they are clearly still good friends, I can’t help thinking their own shippers thinking they are about to elope must be a running joke between them…

I do wonder to what extent Gio is trolling and to what extent keeping interest alive... They are clearly good friends, and this way he gets to follow Miss Huddersfield or whoever on insta and still keep shipper hopes alive - there's always hope that at some undefined future event they'll come out as a couple..
 
I wonder how much actual rehearsal time the celebs have had this week and whether that will impact on the dances or on the ones that take longer to pick things up. There has been a lot of instagram stories of train journeys, Dianne and Tyler were hanging around for quite a while at the pleasure beach this morning filming and doing improv stories😳 Ellie and Johannes on a Cinderella coach along the prom. I guess having extra dancers can cover a multitude of sins and the judges scores will be prone to the Blackpool effect🕺💃

This is really harsh of me, if Rose wasn’t perhaps as popular with the public, hadnt of boosted his popularity and her doing well career wise, would he have stayed such good public/Insta friends with her? I have no doubt they are good friends, but it feels more for publicity and it also possibly helps her as well. He doesn’t wish everyone an Insta happy bday - not Luba, not janette etc.

Yeah, it's the contrast between the radio silence for good friends Luba and Janette, and the four posts for Rose (including shots from their FaceTimes together)- more like something a boyfriend would do. The FB shippers are in ecstasy!

Me - yeah I’m fine thanks, I’m thinking about Strictly Come Dancing actually
Dental Nurse - I love it! They’re all good, well I mean the misery guts who never smiles, he’s the worst one left
Me - ah yeah Will (trying to smoke out a fellow Tattler) he’s so…mardy
Dental Nurse - (doesn’t bat an eyelid) he’s always greetin (crying) about something!

So it’s not just us who aren’t on the Will Express to Blackpool 😂

I know in years past some have rehearsed on Sunday due to limited rehearsal space once they get to Blackpool.
