Ach, I don't mind Amy. There's no harm in her. She's very enthusiastic about the show and clearly feels very deeply about everything -good and bad- that happens to her and her partners on the show. She's a wee sensitive soul, as my gran would say, and that can lead to being a touch clingy or over-emotional with her partners, but equally, can be good in helping a very nervous beginner dancer feel welcome and safe with her.

I thought James gave a lovely farewell interview, very relaxed, very complimentary towards Amy, no sour grapes or nippy comments about anything or anyone. Very professional. Hope he gets a nice juicy storyline in Eastenders next year and a BAFTA nod or something, seems a nice chap.

Same here. I'm not a longterm watcher of Strictly so don't know a huge amount about her anyway.

I have to catch up yet on his interview with Rylan but I thought James came across all the time as a genuinely nice man. He got a bit emotional last night through being absolutely wrecked I would say, so while he didn't launch into a goodbye speech, he still thanked everyone, and was very gracious - and relieved 😁. He gave it all he had imo, and was appreciative of feedback good and bad.

I also thought that there was genuine affection from the others towards him.
You could see Tony rubbing the back of his head when they all gathered around him and Amy. 😁

She was a bit better when she used to get interviewed beside the pool after the Olympics because she was on her home turf and the sports journalists tended to ask very direct and pertinent questions, but she gets very flustered and giddy with nerves when plonked on a sofa doing a personal interview.

Someone who does not get flustered is Nikita, who did not even have the grace to blush when he lied that he thought that Scooby Doo dance had good music and choreography. Absolutely shameless liar, what a diabolical minx of a boy he is!
With earrings ❤️ . I would like my daughter to marry Nikita . I think. Or would that be bad. But good.

I laughed reading the AJ/Kai thread on DS about the Kai and Nadiya show. Because it's billed as being about their real-life journey they are assuming it's basically the story of their love affair, and wondering how it will incorporate the supposedly dodgy timeline! I think they're imagining a re-enactment of last season with AJ (possibly played by herself) getting brutally tossed aside in a contemporary routine while Nadiya swings in on a rope.
(the reality is more likely it will just have a selection of songs that are meaningful to them)
bleeping hell 😭 I’m sure Kai & Nadiya are devastated that a group of 6/7 middle aged women aren’t attending their tour and think they have no chemistry.

Only because she was out of breath after her swim. 😁

i haven’t listened to it yet, but she was on the Fortunately podcast and my mum said she said something about ‘seeing behind the curtain’ making it harder to watch Strictly now, and it sounded like she maybe hadn’t had the best experience. Whether that was due to Giovanni I don’t know.
TBF they didn't do a Halloween themed ep that year as they started later - but they did dance on Halloween weekend and Maisie and Gorka were top of the LB.
Ranvir has defo had enough of Strictly, whether because of him or other stuff, who knows?

Haha, yep! Plus Emma Weymouth was hanging around all of them too.
Emma Weymouth must have an alternative life to her life on Instagram where it is all glamorous fashion set parties, frocks and shoes and sponcon, trips to Venice, Paris and beyond with her friends and lots of men to attend her. When it was strictly it was wall to wall Aljaz and Jeanette.

I think her husband is one of those - never on social media don’t post me people - which I understand - and she keeps her kids mainly hidden which I approve of - but honestly apart from her title and mansion, you would be forgiven for not thinking she had a husband if all you knew was social media.

This is the most left field tour ever. Do we know enough about either of them to go see them dance, if I have understood correctly they have a show about their life journey/romance?

Amy's integration into the Fletcher household and recent infiltration of the Bye's may be more interesting!! 🥴😁

But there was also that weird stuff where Giovanna was saying that Amy had to live with them because of covid ‘bubble’ rules, but there were no such rules in place at the time so it was clearly untrue and presumably a misjudged attempt to try to explain the fact that her husband had moved his dance partner into their house.

And then there was Aljaz doing the school run for Sara’s kids while she was at Tom’s kitchen table doing crafts with the Fletcher kids.

The whole thing was INSANE! It’s no wonder this year seems dull by comparison.
Oh yes, I'd forgotten about that. For some reason I remembered it as some fan of Tom and/or Amy making that claim, lol, it definitely does seem weirder that his wife was trying to make that excuse. Though, maybe the show strongly suggested that people stick to bubbles, even though it wasn't being legally enforced? Not that that explains it after elimination... 🤷‍♀️ 😂

Not really. They are two popular pros on the biggest dance show in the uk/world so it’s hardly surprising they have decided to tour. I would much rather watch them then whatever Neil Jones had planned for his “gingerland” tour, one of the only reasons i’m thankful for covid happening was that it cancelled it 😭 Superfans of the show and also the younger fan girls will attend most of the strictly tours regardless of who’s dancing. I think the idea for the tour is mainly focusing on both of their journey’s through life & dance, not necessarily all about their relationship but of course the bitter ones next door are suggesting otherwise 😂

It was noticed despite Ranvir (and Gio) being pretty effusive over their bond for life Gio dropped Ranvir Very quickly after Strictly. It became rather awkward when he was doing lives with Kai during lockdown Gio would bring on other dancers and celebs to chat alongside them, Ranvir would come on and all his follows would constantly mention her and ask him to bring her on. He brutally ignored them all.

I've got deja vu about having seen a very similar article a few weeks ago now.

I wouldn't blame him if he was fed up of it though - Shirley with her obvious favourites and lechery, Anton giving 10s because why not, Motsi just generally being a bit mad. It does feel at times like the judges have been given an obvious agenda to push and if I was Craig who is feel is genuine, that would be hard to swallow.
Yes, I agree, and especially that there does sometimes seems to be some producer interference going on behind the scenes, and that Craig doesn't like it.

The biggest 'wow this really seems rigged' moment that comes to mind (other than Jamelia's elimination, I suppose) was the Judi/Katie dance off. I was absolutely gobsmacked that everyone (but Anton, I think?) mysteriously went blind and didn't see the glaring mistake with the braces and the multiple timing errors throughout Judi's dance. And come to think of it, the Nina/Katie dance off was weird as hell too. I thought Katie performed worse in the dance off, with no energy like she was trying to get sent home, meanwhile Nina corrected the errors she'd made on the night, but they still saved Katie. That said, can't imagine why the producers would want to engineer that scenario though, so it's just odd and confusing.

Also, when Craig judged the Australian one a few years ago, I remember feeling that the elimination in the semi-final was very hinky. He looked like he was sucking a lemon when he had to save the nailed-on winner after a big mistake landed him in the bottom two. I dunno, I don't have any authority to be judging Jive technique so I could be wrong, but I felt he was very clearly the worst in the dance off, and I got the impression Craig did too but knew the producers would be furious if they sent home the biggest celebrity who was doing it for his dead sister and their cancer charity. FWIW, after his vote no longer mattered, Tristan said he would have saved the other couple.

The same celeb also made a mistake in his freestyle, nearly dropped his pro and the camera jerked away towards the ceiling to try to hide it from the audience, and the judges made no mention of it (though Craig did give him a 9.)

ETA: Just went to Wikipedia to check the scores, and I'd forgotten, but the eliminated celeb had unanimously been judged to have the better Jive of the two in a dance off a few weeks earlier (an a-thon style dance off for extra points, not an elimination) so yeah, lol, def rigged.

Oof. I'm still gutted for Nina - she had a lot more to give and I was excited to see what she could do. I still think Neil should have had Katie and vice versa - Katie was a bit doofy and would have suited Neil better and Gorka could have got good dances out of Nina.

The way the shows are rigged is both surprising and unsurprising. It must be really hard to be a dance judge and have to judge things based on what production tells you, even when you don't actually believe it. I do think Craig fights it ie with Tyler but I imagine it's exhausting.

He definitely doesn’t seem happy. I thought he behaved quite badly towards Anton last year and if you watch him when he’s in shot with the other Judges or on the Sunday show, he doesn’t seem remotely interested in any of them. He’s still the Judge that gives the fairest and honest critique (to the main)

20 years may be enough for him. He’s touring with Annie next year and won’t be short of work I’m sure.

BIB - Yes, I sometimes wonder if that's just him keeping up a persona iykwim.

Also, am I dreaming or did he have to apologise to Shirley about something he said about her in a book he wrote? I will have to search, cos it's way back and maybe I'm thinking of the wrong person.

I agree that he is generally the most reliable for fair and honest critique. And he doesn't hand out 10's like smarties either.
