Schwee'arts, I'm out at fireworks tonight and I am FEWMIN :ROFLMAO:

Relying on you motley crew for the usual witty honest critiques tonight, so I can read along with watching it on catch up.

I have absolute faith that you won't fail me

saving my place here so i can read along as i watch it later 🤣

I didn’t follow Rose particularly closely when that story was posted, but it seems like a joke that misfired tbh. Considering they went on to work successfully for a number of weeks more, spend time together socially and work together again (including filming in Italy with his family) it can’t have really demonstrated a bigger behind the scenes issue.

On Facebook/DS there is a slightly patronising narrative of ‘delicate, poor Rose’ which I don’t think is the case at all- she is a grown woman who has been working in theatre and tv for a while. In Dan Walker’s book she mentions that after the semi final she was exhausted and struggling and Gio was pretty firm with her and told her to stop giving up, but that it helped her. I think she can handle herself ok.
I actually think it comes across as quite ableist towards Rose if i’m honest. It's implying that because she’s deaf she’s incapable of doing certain things and incapable of criticism, it’s extremely irritating. The whole reason Rose went on strictly was to show that deaf people can do anything the same as someone who can hear, and she always said she didn’t want to be treated any different but her fans clearly didn’t get the memo.

He obviously pushed for it as a ticket out of duffer duty assuming he'd have a John 2.0 partner. What he didn't realise is that they can easily give him a male partner with no chance of winning.

Now he's used up that card, I wonder if he'll try and push for any celeb next year and get them.

I don't know that he really expected to get out of duffer duty, but I think he might be annoyed that he got a male duffer (well, duffer adjacent) as it makes it a lot less likely that he'll ever get a good same-sex pairing. We know they take celebs' requests into some consideration, so I wonder if Richie wanted him and the producers granted it? I'm pretty sure Kym requested Graz and Ellie requested Johannes, so that left it between him and Kai to get Kaye and Richie. I think he maybe would have preferred it the other way around - had Kaye to fulfill his post-win duffer duty, and then campaigned to get a good male celeb next year that would gain him attention and a shot of winning again. Or maybe he was trying to dodge duffer duty, and thought Richie would be a bit better than Kaye, but had more trouble making it work than he was expecting? But I think it's more likely the former, and the sour grapes are because he's pissed he's probably lost the chance to have a successful same-sex partnership and the publicity that would bring.

I don’t think Ritchie was actually bad. He got very unlucky with a dodgy theme and ultimately ended up in the dance off with someone who danced significantly better than him on the night. If it had been Matt or even James in the bottom he might have survived and could still be in the competition now. They were never going to reach John & Johannes levels but from his quickstep on week 2 I thought he had a lot of natural rhythm and ability so it’s a shame he went out so soon before we got the chance to see any real improvement.

Yes, he definitely got very unlucky and could have improved. I think with the right dance order he could still be in, but I don't think he was ever gonna be very good at any Latin dance, and he got very unlucky that they saddled him with the hardest Latin and a stupid costume and song that was half spoken words on the same week. I think if he'd had a fun Charleston on movie week instead, and then another ballroom the week after, he'd have made it to at least week 5. And then perhaps had enough voter support by then to survive a dodgy Latin. It's a shame we didn't get to find out. I would have liked to see another ballroom dance from them. :( The overscoring didn't help him either. I honestly thought he was safe from the leaderboard alone and wouldn't have voted for him.

I’ve put on Classic FM for my dog but now I’m just listening to barking AND classical music 🤦🏼‍♀️

Fireworks stress me out something terrible. I'm watching Strictly in my back bedroom under a duvet with headphones on and all the windows locked up tight.

My neighbours have taken this as a challenge, and now seem to be launching fireworks with more BANG than sparkle, apparently. I hate them so much.

Please let tonight be a good show, I've been a little ball of nerves and misery all day, I need something to cheer me up.
