Just saw online that Tyler has now gone further in the competition than any radio DJ has been before.

I’m not sure if that’s right - was Zoe Ball on radio when she did the show?

edit: just checked: Zoe started her radio career in 1997, she did Strictly in 2005.

But I also see that I’m very late to the party on this as about 1000 other people have already commented on the DJ thing 😆

not doing great at keeping up with these threads, but I've been working on my top 10 dances of all time and I think I've cracked it

I just want to say, l saw Giovanni on the tube once, and he is absolutely gorgeous irl. I didn't really think much of him on the TV but my goodness irl he is a stunning man.
Interesting! wonder if anyone else has met the pros: I think I mentioned here that I bumped into AJ 'How's Trish?' Pritchard at a train station when he was with Claudia Frangipane and he was super nice (I think I blurted out something awkward about how tiny she was, but it was true! and he laughed a lot). Little did I know the dark path he would take..

A friend who works as a driver once gave Gio a lift - apparently he stank of cigarettes. 🤢

I went to see Singing in the Rain (Kevin Clifton, Faye Tozer) and Bruno was in the seat next to me. Just mid row in the stalls, no special treatment. He was much quieter than I expected! A few people noticed him and he exchanged pleasantries but wasn’t chatty. At the end we agreed it had been a wonderful show (he was on his own) and he just left through the foyer like everyone else. He didn’t appear to be going backstage, so maybe he just wanted to see the show.

I saw that show, it was excellent! Though fortunately I saw it early in the tour when Faye was in it but pre-Kevin as I cannot abide him.

We had gone to see Giovanni’s show and were going back to the car when he appeared unexpectedly at the backstage door of the theatre to meet his fans. He was really lovely to everyone and held the phone to do the selfies with me, 10 year old daughter and hubby who was the only man there lol! Didn’t catch any fagbreath - we all laughed when we said we’d enjoyed it more than the Strictly show at the O2 and he said “But of course! This was MY SHOW! “ ( all good natured)

I took my great-aunt to see Anton and Erins' show about a decade ago.

It was an excellent show, but my great-aunt was in a wheelchair and oh lord, I was not used to handling the thing. She wasn't very happy with it or me when it was time to leave, and I couldn't get reception to call the taxi, nor was I able to get us away from the crowds as quickly as she wanted me to.

Someone on stage or a production staff member -I never found out who- must have noticed how distressed she was at the end, and took us up and around a side exit, away from the crowds at the front, and had a wee word with Anton and Erin and some of the charming musicians and backing dancers they had, and she got to meet them all briefly.

And I know we like to laugh at Anton, but he was the kindest and most courteous and charming man possible to my cantankerous old relative, and had her giggling like a schoolgirl within seconds. Erin was delightful too, as were the singers. (And my god, the figure Erin had! Not an ounce of fat on her, pure muscle, she could have taken you down without breaking a sweat)

Dementia hit my great-aunt soon afterwards and she died a few years back, but right up until the end you could switch on Strictly and she would look at the TV and smile and tell you: "I met that Anton du Beke and he was a lovely man"

This is lovely - thank you for sharing.

What a lovely memory for you and your late Aunt, made me a bit teary eyed if I'm honest.

I like Anton so it's wonderful to hear how kind he was.
