Unless I missed his comment on her post, he only commented a goat emoji on the post from the Strictly account and that was it. People like Jay and Ore wrote longer, more effusive comments and they never even danced with Oti.
Is there beef between the two of them that I never picked up on? Or is he just a man of few words?

In other news, looking at Otis photos she’s posted to Insta I find it hilarious that she’s cropped Anthony Ogogo’s entire head out of the photo and just kept herself in, and used the most unflattering photo she could probably find for Peacock. 🤣

I believe tabloids were trying to stir up something was happening between Kelvin and Oti after the final when she went to visit the strictly tour and they were seen leaving the hotel together. I think around that time Kelvin's wife was seen not wearing her wedding ring and had unfollowed one of them/both of them on insta for a bit. I think they started to distance themselves from each other after that.

The press really are tit stirrers. It’s a shame a friendship has to end or become more distant due to press intrusion and insinuation

That and trolls.

It always struck me that Kelvin seemed ambivalent to the whole thing anyway and didn't jel as well as the rest of the cast did his year probably why Oti doesn't seem as close to him as she does some of her other partners.

I think Oti has great memories of Kelvin but just not friends for life, press/trolls or no press/trolls impacting things. The partner who Oti seemed to have issues with based on her It Takes Two video was Jonnie since she barely spoke about him.

I recall rumours at the time that Jonnie didn't enjoy training so that makes it easy to see why Oti would clash with him.

I guess it all depends on whether the 🐐 means greatest of all time or the animal 😂.

Nah I agree with you Glasgow, I think they’ll both have fond memories but either he’s worried whatever he puts will be misconstrued/reported on or they’re just not in touch any more.

Can someone who watched the whole of the 2016 series please explain what went on?

I didn't watch this series at all and all I've seen is the dances on youtube; I ask this as everyone seems to be flabbergasted as to why Danny didn't win

From what I've gathered from reading the DS forum over time the main reason I've gathered are:

-He was too much of a ringer (which isn't a shock as ringers the majority of the time don't win)
-His show dance wasn't good (I've watched it on youtube and I wouldn't call it bad but it wasn't anything to sniff about; just lots of jumping about).

If anyone who watched the whole series can shed light on what went and to put to an end of ''I can't believe he didn't win!!'' Well obviously more people voted for Ore so there is part of the answer! lol :ROFLMAO:

I watched that series and Danny was consistently better all the way through. Obvs Ore got the most votes but I don’t know why - maybe it was the whole Pop Idol thing where everyone thought Gareth Gates was going to win so they didn’t vote?

One thing that does stick in my mind (I can barely remember last series now) was the huge fuss they made about Ore in the final - “look everyone, we’ve flown in Gene Kelly’s widow and she says that’s the best dance to Singin in the Rain she’s seen since the man himself passed”. My feelings on BBC manipulation are no secret but you’re right, ultimately Danny didn’t get the votes 🤷🏻‍♀️

2016 was the only series where I feel it may have been a tiny bit rigged. The semi-final was suspicious (that's putting it kindly). Claudia Fragapane's fantastic Quickstep and Danny Mac's amazing American Smooth - two of the best dances of the season, neither got 40s even though deserved (Craig I think gave Danny's AS a 10 but Darcey opted for a 9). I suspect this was so that they were in the dance off and Ore wasn't. Ore was placed at the top of the leaderboard with two strong but not top class dances. It seemed organised for him to make the final, especially since he had been in the dance off twice before.

In the final, Ore gets two of his best dances to repeat whereas Danny & Louise didn't. Lo and behold, the win goes to Ore since he had 'the best dances on the night' when in reality, the producers helped him considerably with their picks.

It's funny you made the Gareth Gates comparison because I was kid when Pop Idol happened and I was so shocked when he didn't win because everyone my age wanted him to win; in hindsight the younger crowd wanted him to win and the older crowd (my mum and aunties included) wanted Will to win, and because they were the ones paying for the phone bill then they got to decide and vote.

I wonder how many people had decided on Ore to be the winner because normally going into any sort of these reality-competition-voted-for-final the winner is always normally decided already by the way the public votes have gone already; thats why the bookies create odds for these shows. I don't believe in rigging personally; I mean what is the monumental gain for making Ore a winner over Danny??? Its not the presidential election here! :p

based on the series as a whole, danny absolutely deserved to win. i was no ore fan but can admit that he had a wonderful final, with one of my favourite show dances ever.

danny, imo, fell foul of the old “but they’ve been to stage school” brigade, rather like karim did later on. actors/musician contestants in their 20s who are strong throughout never seem to do well - the voting public either love a journey or some kind of vulnerability they can focus on. danny was just excellent throughout and was a fairly cool personality, the type that sadly never wins 🤷🏼‍♀️

Agreed; its always a shame to see someone like a Ashley Roberts or a Maisie either never getting the full support (girl ringers always fare worse as well as this a predominantly female watched/voted for show and women don't always get behind other women sadly especially when they are amazing at something).

I actually feel a little sorry for Joanne and Ore because I've seen both of them speak in some interviews and they are the only winners (that I've seen anyway) that seem sorry that they won just because there has always been a ''Danny should have won'' brigade! I would ask anyone who said that did you actually vote for Danny on the final night then? Its easy to say something like that in hindsight and pop on a comment under Danny's dances on youtube or tweet it out or post it even on here but obviously people who enjoyed Ore voted in their droves in the final!

If another male ringer comes along that people like then please don't regret not voting! If you didn't watch the series and only watching the dances on youtube then too little too late! :ROFLMAO:

Not to go full on conspiracy theorist, but at the time I thought a few things were rigged in favour of Kevin and Louise that series. I may be mis-remembering (can't be arsed to go back and find the clip sorry) but I was really shocked that they got top marks in the chacha-a-thon thing when it was very obvious they weren't the best. And that semi final was a bit weird

Maybe they wanted a Clifton win and by the time the final came around, the momentum was with Ore and Joanne?

On the other hand, it is kind of plausible that a ringer wouldn't win and Danny did make a few mistakes in the final...but I prefer the Clifton shenanigans theory 😜

Ore was/is - imo - one of the favoured BBC presenters so that in itself could be considered a reason. And I know it’s a small industry where everyone knows everyone but I do think the Cliftons were favoured by the BBC.

For the above, also see Stacey Dooley’s win.

I also think Britons like an underdog - it was obvious Danny was miles better all round than Ore - it could just be that.

Bit in bold - I don’t really have an opinion on Joanne but I found Ore smug and insufferable so I’m reluctant to believe he’s genuinely sorry he won on any level 😂

Other BBC presenters/actors haven't won so I cant buy the theory it was because Ore was a BBC presenter. Stacey had the 'down to earth girl' image plus no female had won in 3 years behind her as well; she was the favourite from quite early on regardless.

True they do like an underdog!

He made mistakes in the final?? Didn't know that! As his show dance wasn't as good as Ore's it does mean Danny I guess ran out of steam by the final night.

Nobody is going to be able to answer your question - you asked why it was and people are giving you their theories 🤷🏻‍♀️.

I have to disagree about Stacey because of the complete abomination of their show dance - that should have negated how popular she might have been 😂. Faye Tozer came across brilliantly I thought and had some harder choreographed, better danced routines.

As LCCZ said, maybe they wanted a Clifton to win.

It could be anything suggested or something else completely.

ore also cried a lot and did frequent vts about how much he loved his wife etc and, as pointed out above, had gene kelly’s widow comment on how beautiful his singing in the rain number was. all things that your average strictly voter loves!

female “ringers” really do get it worse though, i got into an semi-argument on twitter with someone who tried to tell me maisie was a “trained ballet dancer”. the proof of this appeared to be that she’d taken a few ballet classes as a kid. the treatment of her, ashley and especially alexandra got really nasty at times.

i don’t entirely believe there’s ever been a true ringer on strictly though. a ringer to me is a contestant who has actually danced ballroom or latin to an extremely high level before the show - to my memory the only true professional dancer they’ve had is debbie mcgee, though you could argue ashley was too.

I agreed with all the theories apart from that one? Thats allowed isn't it to calmly disagree on a point?

I agree most definitely Stacey was the worst on the night of the final and Faye was amazing! Like I said in a previous post, the majority of winners are decided before the final anyway; Kelvin and Bill could have have sat on a chair and clicked their fingers and still would have won!

Of course it is - I wasn’t uncalmy suggesting it wasn’t.

It just shows it’s different strokes for different folks - they were both worthy winners but I think they worked to get it. I don’t agree with the post yesterday that Kelvin won it with the salsa. I think Bill wasn’t the best dancer but brought something special as the competition went on.

Genuine question - do you think you would you have thought the same about Kelvin and Bill if they weren’t partnered with Oti?
