Really failing to see where Oti has been the luckiest pro in terms of celebs when in her seven years she’s had Anthony, Johnny, Ugo, Graham, two ringers and one likeable but surprising guy in Bill. Strange comment 🤣

I’m kinda glad she had the final year with Ugo, who obviously wasn’t great but it seemed like she let go last year and just enjoyed it.

So you don't think Dianne did well with Joe? She didn't get the best out of a guy who hadn't performed to any capacity on national television before? Just wondering. On the flip side you could argue that Oti never took a non-performer to the final either; she took a massive ringer there ever has been there and 2 men who were guaranteed at least a final slot from the get go. Once again not to say she isn't talented.
If I’m completely honest, I think the bigger factor in Joe reaching the final was his popularity - he had a massive fanbase and the regular strictly audience took to him very well. I don’t think Dianne did a bad job with him, however I didn’t find any of his dancers particularly memorable. None had that ‘wow’ moment for me

Joe getting so far was purely down to his fanbase and romance rumours. He was someone who should have left halfway.

Agreed. He won over the nans as well as having an army of teen girls voting for him. I don't remember any of his dances other than one with the basketballs and she didn't choreograph that. I think there was a dodgy Joseph one where he looked mega awkward too.

People dont read posts do they? There you go:

Not to diminish her talent as she is a talented dancer (as are all the pros) but she is without a doubt the luckiest pro of all:

-Got Danny Mac; arguably the best male dancer the show has ever had
-When Jamie hurt his leg then got Kelvin and once he did his shimmy in week one he was the nailed on winner
-The year after then getting Bill, the most liked, well known celeb out of a diminished celeb list that year

Obviously it hasn't been all plain sailing; I barely remember her dances with Ugo and her dances with Graham, Johnny, and Anthony weren't anything spectacular but I find it hard for the most ardent Oti fan to not see she has had great luck on the show with the points I made above.

I don't think a fanbase got him as far as a final; maybe to a certain point but not as far. You could argue that Aston from JLS had more of a fanbase than he did.

Thats okay if thats your opinion; I personally liked their ballrooms in particular like the foxtrot and the quickstep; I think Dianne is one of the better ballroom choreographers IMO.

I read it and still failed to see where she’s the luckiest pro 🤷🏻‍♀️

Fair enough; I thought Oti getting Kelvin and being earmarked for the final from the first dance and then getting Bill who was the most likeable well known celeb his year and earmarked for the final after the first dance was pretty lucky. 💁‍♀️

Side Note: I find it funny that whenever there is a discussion about Oti other users must automatically bring up Dianne. I mean I like her and Karen and I like the look of Jowita but I feel some users try to bring up their ardent dislike of one pro whenever there is any sort of discussion about another pro. I'm personally not a fan of Amy or Katya but dont bring up their names every time a discussion about another pro is mentioned.

You can’t deny Oti had a major piece of good luck when Jamie got injured, landing her with Kelvin, but obviously they still had to work hard.
It’s a tricky one with Bill, as I think with someone else he might not have gone so far, Oti seemed to get the best out of him.
I think for any celeb, unless they’re absolutely hopeless, you never really know how well they’ll do before the competition gets going. Some people who look good on paper just don’t click with the audience and will never reach the winning post.

Luckiest pro of all though when Gio & Kevin exist and that’s not even going back to any of the older pros is the point I think people were commenting on.

One user brought up Dianne, and in the same post they also mentioned Janette. It was a comparison to back up the point they were making. Gotta say, you're kind of the one keeping the Dianne conversation going.

I did acknowledge already that Kevin and Giovanni have been very fortunate in who they have gotten as well but the luck of the 2019 then 2020 season to follow was too hard to ignore for me.

More than one person mentioned her actually but I i'll be happy to stop now ;)

The only thing I remember about Anthony is that his trousers split mid-dance. That could just say a lot about me mind

Listening to the news at 1pm on Radio 2 I thought Oti had died from the way they were talking about her. Has any other pro ever got a fawning mention on the news when they decided to move on? I doubt it🙄 What Will the BBC do without their pet pro?

I'll also add this because I think this thread took a turn and this point seems to be forgotten; i'll add a sentence which I saw under one of the announcements on one the newspaper online comments.

''Oti is a great dancer and amazing on strictly however that doesn't always translate to amazing Tv presenter!''

Like I said in my initial post when the announcement was made I wish her all the best but she will now have to tread careful on the next moves she makes; if people are already calling over saturated now as she leaves the show it may only get worse as she now has more opportunity to do other things.

Now I wonder how people will comment and bring up how another pro would be worse at oti at everything?? :cautious::ROFLMAO:
